Dibz's POV

"Guy do I really have to follow you to this suicide party?", Josh complained for the umpteenth time. He had tagged the party 'suicide' cus according to him, it was better he was dead than to be caught alive in Hailey's party.
He tried every trick to convince me not go and made up all sorts of arguments on why my being absent was the better choice, but I wasn't listening. I just felt I had to be there. Something told me this is the break I've been waiting.
It was a party so clearly there's gonna be lots of booze, and lots of booze only results in one thing, which is people being drunk. So if more than half the population at the party gets drunk, then I can maybe sneak my way to Hailey's laptop with little or no obstructions at all plus with Hailey being the host, she's gon be quite busy to even catch me. I had tried to make Josh see this reason but he just came up with lectures and reasons why my idea was so dangerous and emphasized on the consequences if I'm caught. Sometimes the guys can be so pessimistic sha.

"Dude cmon, I've begged you enough already. Pls just do this for me man", I sighed already getting frustrated at his constant nagging.

"Besides, there's gonna be lots of chics there, so maybe you should just think more of that and less of the fact that you'd be at Hailey's party", I added. Maybe that would cheer him up a little, I mean it's Josh and Josh and chics always go together. You can never go wrong with that analyses, trust me.

"Devil get behind me", He said sharply while snapping his fingers dramatically.

"Huh?", I asked surprised.

"I said devil get behind me", he said again.

"Yeah I heard you buy why?", i asked confused.

"Dude you know I'm with T now and yet you're suggesting I hook up with other girls? Despite the fact that I love her too much to even think about it not to talk of doing it, you want her to kill me, like literally end my life?",Josh asked.

I smiled at his reaction shaking my head.
"Damn bro, you're really whipped", I said smiling.

"Yeah, that I am. I really live that girl bro, really really do", he replied smiling too.

We got to Hailey's beach house where he was hosting a sort of bonfire party and it was also bikini themed too. I parked the 2019 G-63 Mercedes G-wagon and waited for Josh who was getting down quite reluctantly. I rolled my eyes at that as I let loose my hair from the band I used to keep it in a high ponytail. It fell loosely on my shoulders. I really needed to have it styled again or maybe even cut it, atleast dad would be happy with that.
We walked to where the party was booming as people danced and gyrated to the sounds emanating from the sound speakers.
As soon as we reached , they people stopped what they were doing and cleared us a path for us to get through. As we walked, the murmurs started immediately but I had already gotten used to this sort of reaction one too many times so I wasn't that affected. We got to where the booze was and took some to begin what was surely going to be a long day.
Josh was still frowning as he took a gulp from his canned Heineken while I sipped my soda. I decided it'd be best if I didn't indulge in any form of alcohol so as to be on top of my game tonight.

"Oh you made it", Hailey squealed as she made her way to me. Josh scoffed and left immediately which Hailey kinda frowned at but just let it go. Her shout had gotten the attention of most of the people at the makeshift bar as they turned to see what was happening.
Hailey threw herself at me hugging me tightly.
I could see the confused looks on some people as thy wondered why Hailey was so chummy with me all of a sudden.

"Hi Hales, nice party", I said as I released myself from the hug.

"Oh thank you, thank you", she squealed and hugged me again. Giddy much?

"I'm just so glad you came", she said happily.

"Yeah me too. Uhm Hales, I think you can let me go now, people are beginning to stare", I said or more like choked out. The girl had quite the grip in those little arms.
She released me but still held my hand as she smiled.

"Typical Dibz, always shy whenever he's with a girl in public", she said smiling. I forced a smile as I looked at her.

"You know me so well, besides I wouldn't want your boyfriend to break my head once he sees us like this", I joked.

"Oh please", she rolled her eyes as she put her hand up dismissively. The girl was beautiful sha I had to give it to her.

"You didn't act all shy and timid then when Fola was going full PDA on you back in highschool", she continued.

"Yeah.....", I was saying before her boyfriend Rex together with Henry approached us.

"Hey babe", he said interrupting me as he snaked his arm round her waist looking at me with a stony expression on his face. I smiled inwardly at his show of territorial claim. He really shouldn't be worried about anything, it's not like I was interested in her anyways.

"Oh hun", Hailey turned to meet him. He gave her a small smile before turning to me again with a frown.

"This guy bothering you.", he asked coldly.

"No no, he's not. Actually, I invited him", she replied him.

"But baby, I thought he's...", Rex was trying to say but she caught him off, rather rudely might I add.

"But nothing, he's here on my invitation and besides we are good now so I'd like it if you and everyone else acts or says anything hostile to him at all", she said with her voice raised abit, prolly so other people would get the message too.

"Excuse me Dibz, let me make sure everything is in order, I'll be back soon I promise", Hailey excused herself, dragging Rex with her and leaving Henry with me.

"Wow, just wow"!, Henry smiled as he clapped mockingly.

"You got Hailey to forgive you easily too?", he asked still that fake grin on his face.
"What is it, just what is it that makes people succumb to your wishes ,huh?", he continued.

I glared at him for a moment almost landing a punch on him too as I remembered what he did to Fola, but I controlled myself and just smiled.
"F**k off man", I said smiling and walked off.

Almost three hours had gone since Josh and I arrived here and I've been bored ever since. Josh hadn't shown up since and Hales had been on and off, I guess she's still busy playing hostess.
i walked around, taking in the whole environment. The beach house was nice in its own way -- nothing close to my family's own sha-- but it wasn't half bad either.
I got into the house and was met with the sorry sight of drunk young adults and the stench of marijuana or whatever drugs they were smoking.
Funny how Hailey had accused me of being under the influence of drugs when I allegedly raped here but here in her very own party now, the 'drugs' are been dished out freely like it's World Drug day. What if I called the cops on this sh**t right now.
I had opened most of the rooms to find people making out, puking and some stoning heavily but still no sign of Josh or Hailey. There was one more door left though, it was at the far right at the end of the hall. I opened it and saw it was still neat arranged, like no one had been inside it for hours. I almost closed the door back when I figured no one was there and then it hit me.
This must be Hailey's room or her parents and if the other rooms were occupied, then surely she must be using this one and that's why it's been kept of limits. Which means her belongings had to be here and by belongings, I meant her laptop too.
I smiled as the realization sunk deeper and without wasting more time, I began searching for the laptop. I searched and searched, even offloaded a box of clothes I saw there. The box was Hailey's, I was sure now because of the girly wears and also some kinky intimacy gadgets. The girl's just a psycho sha. Still I found nothing, no laptop at all. I gave up after another fruitless sweep of the whole room and decided to leave. I arranged everything and put them back in order and walked out. I had not taken more than ten steps when I remembered something. My mind went to something i had seen hanging close to the wall mirror, it had resembled a flask drive but I didn't give much thought it it then as my mind was bent on finding a laptop. I walked back to the room and it was really a flash drive hanging there.
If her laptop isn't here then maybe she might have backed up some of her files in here but the issue was where to use this drive immediately. My laptop wasn't here, who brings a laptop to a party anyways and suddenly my eyes darted to the flat screen smart TV in the room. Gotcha.

I had just finished inserting the drive into the TV when the door burst open.

"What are you doing here!", Hailey thundered......TBC

I froze. Like I literally froze, it was like time had stopped and I had stopped too with the time.
Blood stopped flowing through my veins just as my eyes too became still, I couldn't even blink. The only parts of my body at work were just my mind and my ears. My mind worked overtime, it was like my mind's abilities had heightened, almost like the paralyzed parts of my body had somehow been compensated in the workings of my mind. I reasoned and calculated at an immeasurable speed , trying to come up with the perfect excuse to Hailey's question.
I just had to get caught at my first trial. Can anything just seem to go well for me at all? Even if it's just one thing, just one thing.

"Why aren't you answering me? I asked what you were doing?", Hailey asked again, as she entered the room folding her arms. I could tell with the way e was looking at me that she was suspecting something.

"Hey Hales ...", I said without thinking. "Uhh... I was looking everywhere for you and Josh but couldn't find any of you and somehow I ended up here. This was the only free room without anyone making out or doing other disgusting stuff so I decided to just chill here", I said , silently praying she bought the B.S I just spewed off my mind.

"Mhmm", she hummed with a lifted eyebrow.
" Still doesn't explain what you're doing with my flash drive at the back of the TV".

Of course my prayer wouldn't be answered. I sighed at how pathetic I was to have even thought that my silly excuse would have gotten me off the hook.

"Yh, about that....I....I....got bored and so I tried to watch something to pass time and then I saw the flash I figured that it'd have some movies stored in it, that's all", I answered, marvelling at how fast I came up with that one. Damn, I'm becoming a pathological liar, I guess I should hang out with Josh less. The dude was a master at fabricating lies, no wonder he always manages to keep the long string of girls at the same time.
With the way Hailey was still looking at buying me, I knew she didn't buy my excuse fully and that she was still trying to come up with my questions as to why I was really here so I had to come up with something again. Something to throw her off this suspicious path she's on.

"I didn't know me touching your things would have been a big deal, I'm sorry", I said in a bid to try and make her feel sorry. "I guess I'll just leave now",I continued as I made to leave.

"Oh no, I'm sorry Dibz. Of course you can touch my things. it's just that the last party I had here, some things got missing and my dad scolded me real good then so that's why I was abit skeptical when I saw here like this. I'm sorry if I made you feel unwelcome at all", Hailey pleaded.

I smiled inwardly before turning to meet her.

"It's ok Hales, I understand", I said.

"Thank you", she said. "But there are no movies in this flash though, maybe I'll just get my laptop so we can watch together", she said taking the flash drive from the TV and hanging it round her neck.
There and then, I knew that the flash drive was what I should be gunning for and not her laptop.
Of course, she wouldn't risk having something that incriminating in her laptop like that, and besides she wouldn't offer it(the laptop) so freely if there was anything incriminating in it at all.

" I think I'll be going now , Hales",I said. I had to think up new strategies on how to get my hands on the flash drive. I couldn't try any more attempts to get it as my first trial had somewhat triggered her internal security systems to be on alert.

"Why?... but I said I'm sorry now, I didn't mean to speak to you like that earlier", Hailey whined.

"Oh no, it's not about. I've really been here for long and I have an early day tomorrow, so I need some rest that's all. I wish I could stay longer with you though", I said with a smile. The smile was to endear me to her once more. I needed her to feel so comfortable with me so as to make it easy for me to strike at any given time, she needed to feel safe around me even if it meant me making her feel wanted by me.

"Ok ok, I'll miss you sha but it's ok", she sighed.
"Well, let me see you out", she said taking my hand as we left the room .

We moved towards the bar area to search for Josh and so we could leave. The party was still bubbling and the people were still in high spirits, gyrating to the techno beats and blaring from the speakers.
As we neared the bar, I saw Fola there looking all beautiful and sweet in her bikini top and short bumshorts, allowing the world the privilege of seeing those long creamy legs. Damn, I'm still a goner for the chic, why does she seem to get the much hold over me?
As I was still ogling her, some dude approached her with a drink which she accepted quite willingly and she even laughed at whatever gibberish joke he told her. Oh my heart boiled over, I'm pretty sure my blood could cook beans in a minute with the way I was boiling now.

"You know what?....I think I'll stay a little longer", I said, turning to Hailey who was all smiley now......TBC

Abeg make una try manage this one.....I know I should be updating more but then lack of money can mess up your psyche pretty bad that you can't think of anything else. Hopefully I'll be more frequent when I get myself out of this fix. You guys can help out too oo lol...HSD

Three updates dropping tomorrow...so sorry for the delay

Dibz's POV
We got to where Fola and the other guy were and exchanged pleasantries. So apparently, the guy was quite popular given that Hailey also seemed to know him. I tried to keep an neutral expression on my face as I shook hands with him and I gotta admit, the guy was fine sha and that in a way, made me feel somehow small.
Fola greeted me too, quite casually I might add, like nothing had happened between us some nights ago. She acted so cool and mature that I got pissed off at how calm and calculated she was being right now. Sure it was my fault, I told her to leave but I didn't expect her to move on so quickly while I couldn't seem to get her off my mind.
Henry and Rex also cams over to greet mystery dude too and Josh came not too long after.

"Guy, where have you been?" I asked immediately Josh settled beside me. I was grateful he decided to show up now as I was already getting bored and feeling out of place with the small reunion taking place around me.

"Sorry man, was at the far end of the shore, was on the phone with T", he apologized while I just smiled, looking ahead and making sure not to look at him so he wouldn't pounce on me.
The Josh I knew before would have been pants down now, getting down with some random chic like that. How he's not infected with any STIs beats me. Thank God for T though.

"Yeah ok", I replied. " So...who's this guy you all seem to be acting all mushy to", I asked distastefully. He gave a weird look like the ''what the hell's look and returned back to his drink.

"His name is Moses Dozie but we all call him Moe and no one is acting all mushy towards him.
He was our senior then in BlueBlood High and we all loved him. He's a good guy, you'd like him too when you get to know him better", he finished.
The name 'Dozie' sounded a bit familiar as I pondered on where I had heard it before.

"You said his surname is Dozie?", I asked .

"Yeah. He's the grandson of Dr. Emeka Dozie former MD of Apex Bank, now the chairman, while his dad is Uzoma Dozie the current MD", Josh answered, satisfying my curiosity now.

'Oh", I said, becoming to lose interest in the conversation.

"I know right, that's some real old money. Moe is also an MSC holder in business mgt and another in Financial Assessment too. He just rounded up the latter , the guy's just awesome and he's just 26. He was the basketball captain then in BB and was also valedictorian of his class. Then girls used to lurk around him like the air we breathe, he was my mentor in the getting girls aspect", he continued with the quite the enthusiasm. I, on the other hand was getting quite fed up with the guy's story, my main concern was his connection with Fola and he should stop holding her hand like that for Christ's sake.
As if his good looks weren't enough, he also had to have two MSCs while I haven't even finished my Bsc. Well I might as well be an MSC holder too cus the courses I took while in jail prepping to step in for my dad were top of the shelf stuff and my tutor was one of the best there is.

I thought I had successfully buried all my insecurities, I thought I had outgrown them all but here I am, comparing myself with someone I didn't even know, someone totally different from me. I knew deep down that all these had to do with his closeness with Fola. Real selfish of me to jealous and angry when I was the one that told her to leave and very petty of me too to be thinking of this when I should be setting my mind on how I was going to get my hands on that flash drive and clear my name.

"How about we all play a game. The night is still young and we've got time", Hailey squealed jolting me from my thoughts.......TBC

Fola's POV

I winced inwardly at Hailey's squeal for a game.
The last time we played a game, I ended up being pawned off to the winner like I was some object and since then I've developed some sort of dislike for such games and now here I am being roped into yet another one of such games and almost with the same set of people.
I had made up my mind to avoid this party but just like everything else of recent, I wasn't going to have my way.
Truth is, I wasn't ready to see Dibz yet and I know I had resolved to try and help him no matter what, I still felt the sting of his rejection quite deeply and moving on was being kind of difficult for me. Guess I just love the boy a little too much.
My plan to just stay in for the night and Netflix n chill was thwarted by the pleasant surprise of Moe's arrival. His coming at that time was a very welcomed surprise. He was looking all handsome and hot as usual and had lightened my mood well. We caught up on so many things and that was when he brought up the party ish.
I tried, Lord knows I tried to excuse myself from coming here but Moe can be quite persuasive and that's how I ended up here.

So we were playing a game kinda like spin the bottle but in this case when the bottle pointed at you, the spinner gets to ask you something about their self and if you fail, you take a shot of tequila.
So far I've been lucky and I've never really had any cause to ask or be asked any question.
Hailey spun and it landed on Dibz. She asked some dumb question which I didn't seem to grasp and he answered quite correctly to which she giggled and crawled to peck his cheek.
I boiled her gesture and it took everything in me not to reach out and draw her hair pretty hard.
How dare her, who does she think she is?

"Hey Fola, it's your turn to spin", Moe said as he nudged me a little, getting my mind back to the present. I took a glance at Dibz and I saw him watching me intently but his expression was unreadable. Right now I was too pissed at him to even care that I was supposed to be avoiding him, instead I scowled at him and I could have sworn I saw his lips etch in a smile.
In my subtle rage, I spun the bottle abit forcefully and it spun and spun till it landed at Moe. I smiled now, happy that it wasn't someone I didn't feel like talking to.

"Ok", I said adjusting my position well enough to ask my question.

"Bring it on babe", he replied smiling and I paused for a while. I don't know why he said that but I'll let it pass. I looked at Dibz and i saw the smug smile was no more there. Good!

"So I'm gonna ask a simple one now", I started.

"What's my favourite colour?", I asked.

"Easy, it's pink", Moe answered smiling. I smiled at his response and was getting ready to answer when I heard someone scoff. Dibz.

"It's black", Dibz answered smugly.

'Just who the hell does he think he is,' I thought angrily to myself and then an idea came to my mind.

"No, Moe was right and you're wrong", I answered, proudly sporting a smirk on my face.
The frown on his face as I denied his answer was priceless. Of course, pink is not my favourite colour, just the sight of it irritates me but I wasn't going to give Dibz the satisfaction of thinking he knows me inside out-- which he does sha-- not after he let Hailey peck him and he rejected me.

Already fed up with whatever they were talking about now, I excused myself to get some fresh air and left. I faced the beach, watching how beautiful it looked in the night and then I caught a whiff of his cologne.

"So..... pink huh?", he said as he stood beside me , facing the beach too......TBC
