There are many times i see McTominay go for a shoulder to shoulder tussle with an opponent and either get the ball, give away a smart foul or concede a throw-in. Those are the types of balls Fred is not able to retrieve and is left rolling on the floor because of his small size while ref waves play on.

Other times he goes charging in like petrol tanker with a failed brake and misses the ball and player completely.

Imagine either of these scenarios happening with Pogba and Bruno far upfield as his midfield partners.

I had to go as far back as 3 years ago to compare Pogba's stats with Fred's stats this season before I could see any meaningful difference. This is Fred's second season in United and he has shown tremendous improvement. Can't say the same for Pogba

He has improved this season but let us not blow it out of proportion.

Solskjaer has been impressed with what he has seen from Mengi in training and is looking to integrate him into the first team squad as we come towards the end of the season like he did with Greenwood before giving him more game time in the 20/21 season and moving onwards.

He could have a shitty attitude and a horrible agent but the talent is there. And Fred cannot match the assists and goal chances he has created.

Selection headache is not Pogba OR Fred, it’s Pogba AND Fred/McTom.

No. Don’t say that. His running around helps keep the opposition at bay.

He’s usually dribbled up the pitch in the opposition’s half. He doesn’t get dribbled often near his post.

As said earlier, Pogba is at his best when he’s not the main player, proven by his performance for Juve and France.

So with Bruno here, Rashford and Martial stepping up, we might just get to see the best of Pogba finally.
