Good morning all. I'll appreciate everyone's thoughts on my narrative below.

Every quarter, I contribute a certain amount into an annuity plan with one of the insurance companies. The plan is that at a certain age(50yrs), the company pays me monthly(500k) till death having fulfilled the premium payment to the required age.

Going by the volatility of the naira which gets devalued every now and then thus reducing it's purchasing power overtime, is such an investment still advisable?

Will investment of the premium currently being paid quarterly into a good dividend stocks be a bad idea? (I have a couple of dividend paying stocks already).

Thank you
My fear for you first of all is if the insurance company is in Nigeria, will it continues to exist till then? Also, will they keep to their word when it is time to begin payment?

Those are my fears for you not even the devaluation yet.

I just tried mine now and it says wrong password or username. I have no trades to make, so I'd leave it for now until they fix it. I'm on Morgan Capital monitoring the market.

Well, it opened via web maybe the app has an issue connecting. It seems I would have to open account with this Morgan Capital, a lot of people are using here.

I don't think any other broker matches Morgan Capital in terms of user interface of their live trading platform, the information shown on the live trade, the speed, etc. Their only problem is a lack of mobile app.

Abeg, who said NSEMPA don't move market ? During the long weekend, two stocks matter featured well on top NSEMPA table: NEIMETH AND HONEY.
NOW NEIMETH is doing around 10% south while Honey is doing 10% North with over 19mill bids and no offer. Anyways I am still watching. una well-done. grin

Directly or indirectly, NSEMPA moves the market. You will be surprised to know that a lot of investors (home & abroad) got some good investment info through this medium.

There is a way to know when to walk, I think by looking at volume traded. Even while price is moving up any substantial volume divergence na to japa o.

The insurance company is aiico and I think they've been around for a while. No one knows if they will be around by the time I become 50yrs. I've heard about few people who they've kept their word to concerning the same plan.

That's as much details I can provide except you have specific questions.

Pls provide names of personal finance advisors available in Nigeria.

Also there is no penalty at this stage of my contribution

Prof shared one song here the other day. The Gambler, I guess.

"If you're gonna play the game, boy
You gotta learn to play it right

You've got to know when to hold them
Know when to fold them
Know when to walk away
And know when to run..."
