Community project. If a few people perhaps with some support of the government could build airports back then, why do modern day government borrow outrageous amounts to renovate existing airports?

Pls note that there was no support of any government.. Funds solely contributed by individuals .

Thank you

No wonder these people hate Igbos and fear biafra. Because they know the igbo man doesn't need the government to better his life. Igbo deserve their own country abeg, they are way more advanced than other Nigerian tribes. Little wonder they are called IGBO- Ancient people

I would have loved if they can come together to build a refinery the size of Dangote's. That's 12Bn USD or over 4 Trillion.

Let me leave this here :IGBO NA ATO KA SUGAR grin grin
The airport is named in honor of a former governor and politician-philanthropist, the late Chief Sam Mbakwe of Imo State. It is the first state-government-built airport. Navy Commodore Anthony E. Oguguo, who was military governor of Imo State from 1990 to 1992 during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida, commissioned and built the airport. He famously said "I saw money and looked away, it is not everything; we can all do the same and teach it to our children." It was later taken over by the federal government.

the government itself is very stupid, they can arrest u, for helping them to repair road. There was a time I had an opportunity to grade a road in my area with my company's grader, I was advised not to it, that someone was arrested for repairing government road. only the government can fix road or can give permission to individual to so.

This document has been called into question. It does not match the typeset of the era in which it's believed to have been created. For perspective, look at the typeset under the picture of Kalu Idika Kalu.

Names like Mr Arthur Eze on that document adds more doubts to it credibility. As of 1978, Arthur Eze was still a student in USA. Atlas Oranto Petroleum was not founded till the early 90s. Also, the personal account of Iwuanyanwu on how the airport was built (https://www.sunnewsonline.com/my-ups-and-downs-in-life-iwuanyanwu-2/) does not match this narrative.

While donations were likely made for the project, this document is clearly revisionist and is a fake.
