the guy asked a very good question.. These children still play with their mates. So how do you know who had contact with their mates in that social chain order? Even their parents go out everyday and come home. There is a very busy market no too far from where I live. If you see how people interact there, and if COVID-19 is spread the way it is broadcast. I think more than 90 percent of Nigerians are endangered. Closing school is never a solution from my observation so far. People don dey carry Ashawo dey Fvck now. So what are we now achieving
Personally, I just have issues with the fact that people are too laid back around here. It is well.

You think its all black and white. Let me fill you in on the happenings in school finances.
1. State Govt dues alone at their cut throat rate can destabilize a school if not managed well especially in Lagos
2. Local govt still collect their fees. As far as its a business venture, you can't escape local govt fees
3. PAYE + Owners Assessment
4. Utility bills. NEPA, Lawma
5. Miscellaneous E.g Working Equipments, Fuel etc and that's daily and weekly
6. Salaries.
And all this comes from 20k per term and that's even if you can collect all the fees.
You think running a school is rosy? Think again

A good manager should know priorities and learn to think outside the box sir... I am a stakeholder in the education sector so i know what i am saying sir... Trust me any school that fails to pay salary and use covid as an excuse is a Mushroom school and should be closed down.... 20k school fee is not and should never be an excuse... Payment of salary should be of priority to the school management at a time like these... If management cannot run things in school with reserve for upto 6months then they have no business in school management.. Let us stop pushing blame on Govt everytime... Teachers should hold school management responsible for poor finance and not Govt

Thank you for letting him know. It's easier for anyone to conclude on a matter they have little or no idea of. Uptil today, more than half of the students in my school are yet to pay their last term's school fees and you dare not ask because everyone is using the pandemic as excuse.

Some people have forgotten that private schools owners are also affected too.

So do you blame Govt for that? Truth be told the term had just two weeks left... Is it Govt fault that management refused to collect fees for 11weeks period the school was open? You all should hold your management responsible for using pandemic as excuse... Majority of the schools don't even allow students into the school after mid term without school fee.... School Management and no other person should be held responsible for poor management of the school system...

Obviously, you don't seem learned. I would rather not waste any minute with you but just a little tip.

The more strains of virus you get exposed to, the easier it is for your immune system deal with new strange ones. Mostly because most virus strains have a few things in common. Hence your immune system will recognize them and deal with them effectively.

This is also why Corona hasn't become a pandemic here in Nigeria because we all point to each other as the dirtiest cultural group every time the question pops up.

This is why native European families are advocating for not too stringent protection of their babies during their tender years.

Let me speak your English....

European scientists advise parents to allow their kids to touch and play freely. Swim in dirt. Etc.

FYI, being a mother doesn't automaticlly qualify you to have sense. So please get sense. You are messing yourself up in public

just shut up mr learned man, i am a teacher a learned one its hard on private teachers i know but our future generations cant and should not pay the brunt of some peoples stupidity and greed. We advocated that civil servants too should stop getting paid.

Many of them squealed. Saying things like: so because you are hungry, we too should go hungry.

Not like what we were asking was wrong. It's just embarrassing that some people or idiots in government would not realize that civil servants were not the only people living in Lagos state and Nigeria.

Now we have to scream for those idiots to see the picture.

If your business is failing, kindly form an inprompto association and carry placard around the city. We might see the need to support your cause.

You obviously don't own a school so there is no point in arguing with you. Paying two million for salary alone monthly to staff will cripple a school if it doesn't make income termly. I can deduce that your level in stakeholding in the education industry is not in the level of school management. Just so you know, school owners have families they take care of. We can go on till December without the schools opening. This protests I am very sure is for the interest of teachers not school owners.

Thanks to everyone that insulted me, I appreciate you all grin

But my own is that no matter what they do the government wouldn't still care.

This Corona virus pandemic has taught me a lot of things

This period has made me to understand that having a degree doesn't mean you would make it in life, you have to work smart not hard. And that is one thing that most people do not know.

Teachers please don't get me wrong I mean no disrespect you guys have the most important job on this planet, but the mistake you guys make is that you teach all your students to depend on school which is very wrong and if you continue like this, in the future you are gonna find a lot of people graduating out if your class right into the unemployment line. Let me tell you a little about WHY SCHOOL SUCKS!

A man by the name of Mark Twain once said: "I never let my schooling interfere with my education". it is said that a child educated only in school is an uneducated child. What does that mean? It means that true education is not merely learned through a textbook. And the way to prove that one understands something is not merely through a test. This is the old way. The chalk and talk way. The way of memorizing facts then taking a test and then forgetting about them a week later. What good does that do? A man by the name of Howard Gardner came up with the theory of multiple intelligences. He said that they are auditory Learners kinesthetic, Learners, people that learn through touch, people that learn through stories. See we all have different gifts and strengths and to create an educational system where only one type of learning is preferred is absurd. Not only unfair but it sacrifices the God given abilities of students, and the good of the world. The best advice I could give a student is figure out how YOU learn. Just because you fail a test doesn't mean you're "slow" just because you are having a hard time understanding something doesn't mean it's impossible. Because they are no bad students, only inflexible teachers. Yeah, I went there. When I was in the third grade my teacher Mrs. Williams wanted to hold me back, she said I was...... "slow". They do not want me saying this but when I was growing up my parents thought that I had mental disabilities. No! I just wasn't understanding in the way that they were teaching. The same man who took us to the Moon Wernher Von Braun failed maths class twice. See nobody is "slow". But the secret is you must figure out how you learn and Learn EVERYTHING you can about what you love and I promise life will become a lot easier.

I know some of you taught I'm very evil or heartless, but I'm sorry for what I wrote it didn't come out right, I hope this post will make u to understand what I really meant to say.

PEACE!

I think its long overdue due, these teachers are not being paid at all, the state and government teachers don't want schools to reopen because they are being paid without working, which is very bad. How long are we going to continue like this, federal government should kindly open schools and churches with good directives and guidelines.

Secondly, I think this will be an Eye-opener for teachers not to put all their eggs in one basket. They should work on another legit source of income.

Following the notice of the proposed nationwide protest by the National Association of Private Schools Teacher issued on Thursday July 9, 2020, the self acclaimed association national chairman has called on all the private schools teachers to come out en masse in all the states of the federation for the protest.

Due to the indefinite closure of schools as a result of the covid19 pandemic, many private schools have not been able to pay their workers salaries for the last three months. This has triggered some of them to call on the government for help. They claimed the have been abandoned by the government.

There is no doubt that there are genuine reasons why schools should be closed in Nigeria. In fact, I agree with many of the arguments that people have made to defend this. However, there are many factors that must be considered before we conclude the matter. I'll just itemise them:

1. Covid-19 has no cure or vaccine and even if one comes up tomorrow, it'll realistically take more than 3 years to reach up to 30% of the Nigerian population. Corona is here to stay. There's no future utopia where the virus magically disappears. It won't go away next year so postponing resumption of schools means postponing the inevitable. In fact, by next year, for instance, the cases may be in the millions in Nigeria. Will schools be closed forever? Or you think our insensitive government will perform some magic?

2. Social distancing doesn't work in Nigeria. I don't know about your location but in mine, people go about their normal lives and there's nothing anyone can do about it. The children are still playing with their mates every day. Parents go to work and markets and may likely import the virus to their homes.

3. Children still go to churches or mosques (which are open in most places). Religious and social gatherings are known super spreaders of the virus.

4. So far, children are nowhere near vulnerable as far as Covid-19 is concerned. While this argument can be upended, it is a strong factor nonetheless. Children are not so much in danger as their teachers and the teachers are mature enough to protect themselves adequately.

5. Students in public schools in remote and riverine areas are struggling and therefore may face certain learning challenges if they stay out of school for too long. Many may lose interest in schools altogether. I have been to these places and I know how averse they are to education. Many simply go to school because their mates are going. Should they stay home for long periods, they may likely never resume whenever schools open (which, going by the logic of some concerns, can take more than 2 years).

6. Private school teachers have not been paid for months because, unlike the public sector, they have to work before they are paid. Furthermore, many of them have been organising lessons for miserly wages (this also contradicts why schools should be closed). Indeed, many of those who want schools to remain closed have means of educating their children effectively, forgetting the fisherman's child in Oporoza who either goes to school or hunts for bait worms.

7. Once again, corona is here to stay. There are many workarounds that can be easily adopted to curtail populated classrooms. We must either accept the reality of Covid-19 or simply all remain at home - no markets, malls, churches, mosques, work etc because no one is better or worse than schools as far as the virus is concerned. If you can afford homeschooling or online learning for your children, you should definitely go for it. However, what is good for Bernard is not necessarily good for Benetutukayo and it is nobody's fault that we have an irresponsible government that can't provide adequate infrastructure for times like this.

I am a realist in matters like this but there are factors that policy makers must consider even if schools must remain closed. Until the factors are appropriately pictured, we may be doing more harm due to our inability to see the wider picture. There are reasons why the lockdown didn't last in Nigeria. These are the same reasons why schools can't remain closed indefinitely.

Mini importation have turned many Nigerians into millionaires.
Imagine buying women's designer bags for 5000 naira and selling for 25000 naira.
That's pure 20k profit on one product
Just selling 5 of that bag will give you 100k.
Some products are very easy to sell compared to others
Things around weight loss, health, women's beauty, fashion, electronics, gadgets sells very well in Nigeria
I remember selling a 10 naira pink lips balm for 2000 naira.
I don't need to tell you how hot this product is
The profits in this business is too much.
I have decided to teach you the business of importation.
You will learn how to import products at a very low price and sell very high here in Nigeria
You will be exposed to hot products that sells like fire here in Nigeria.
You will learn how to even beat down the price more as you're negotiating with the seller (this secret alone is one thing nobody will dare tell you)
You will learn how to import your products down to Lagos and from Lagos down to your doorstep anywhere you are
You will also learn how to sell your products.
By the end of the class you will be the indaboski of alerts
Promise me you will pay me tithe when you begin lick oil
Now tell me how much you're willing to pay for this class.
30k?
20k?
10k?
But NO
I'm crashing it down to a discount price of 3000.
Yes 3000.
But this offer will last last for 24hours
I also have an offer for early birds (those that will pay before 7pm)
Early birds will pay 2500.
After 24hours everything will go back to 10k
The hot Product template alone is 30k not to talk of how to negotiate with the seller and beat down the prices more or is it the platforms that you can sell off your products with ease
Contact
080. 68. 15 29 51.
I will also give out my underground importation book i bought for 7k for FREE.

Stop generalizing. Not all schools collect huge sums of money as school fees. Private schools in the suburbs collect 20k as fees and still not all the children pay up. Now how would such school owners pay salaries. You guys talk like this because you have the opportunity of sending your children to schools on the Island or G.R.A etc.
at my end here private schools collect as low as 12 -15k for tuition fee depending on the class. University environment for that matter. Most of the teachers earn not more than 15k as salary
