I've noticed overtime that most people tend to treat people who are not physically appealing to them, differently from those who are. Of course, people who're classified as "facially ugly" are almost always the regular victims.

They're often treated badly, and are made to feel like it's their fault that they're that way. This can dent one's self esteem, and it's even more sad when that person has numerous abilities. Nobody determines how they look before they're born, and not everybody gets a lucky draw in the beauty lottery. So I don't get why people are treated based on the way they look.

I know some people who'll view this thread are guilty of this. So please with all honesty, can you share why you do that?

Please let's all share our opinions, as well as words of encouragement to those of us who have been victims. There are more pressing issues in the society, but I feel that this is an underrated topic that should be discussed, and could help people going through a tough phase as a result of those treatments.

...i recalled how a girl ignore me and greeted good looking guys as a fresher at uni, i smiled as if it never hurt. after a year, my fame travel arround the faculty, more beautiful girls got attached to me.
i did payback. i was passing by a day, she was with her group of girls...i greeted the 3-girl then snub and ignore her attention.
i did this severally before she sent her friend. guess what, she was smash and dump, and ignore through out my days in school.

Selfish nature of man makes man to love only those that he will gain from.

Love beautiful people for ego and wealthy people for financial gain this is all they care for.

Gone are those days in school.. Uniben..after banging a girl from electrical engineering department.. just wanted to bang and move on but unfortunately for her she was madly in love with me....she was very intelligent but stupid me put beauty first before brain...

I still wonder why I gave her such disdainful treatment those days....I treated her like she was a nobody simply because she has no facial beauty and no coke bottle shape...
She will sacrifice her time, money and books just to be around me but instead of me to reciprocate. I Will ignore her..

It's not really about being ugly alone.Once you don't measure up to their standard, you'll be treated badly.

The OP is kind of right,but i believe,the greatest weapon to fight discrimination is SUCCESS.

Once you are successful and well to do,you will be respected and adored anywhere you find yourself,whether goodlooking or not.

Without wealth and influence,if you like,cute pass anything,you will still be looked down upon.

At first,good looking people may be loved or adored,but without quality,they are later discarded. Its better to be an average looking CEO than a handsome GATEMAN.

what's most annoying is that a lot of people in the comments are trying to shy away from the topic,and honestly,it is a biological bias to give attractive people more advantages than the less attractive ones. yes,it's been proven. it's so bad that a study was conducted,and it showed that if there is a rape case, involving an attractive and an unattractive victim,the rapist of the attractive person is likely to be convicted and serve more time compared with the person considered unattractive. what's even funny is that on first impression, attractive people are considered more intelligent,more kind and more social. we all do it,we ignore ugly people and droll over the fine ones...it's a biological bias but you can consciously avoid it if you pay attention to your sub conscious trying to force you in this line of action. quick question,what will you do if an ugly girl/guy asks you out yh I thought as much

You will see someone separating fight between two kids, and knocking the ugly one while sparing the Fine one!

but i think the counter should be for any ugly man to supersede the fine person in other areas like Godlike body physique. i think it sort of raises the chances a bit. a little grooming here and nice cloths there (if it can be afforded). that king of thing. self improvement is the answer

I have caught many people looking at me with bad eyes because of my facial expression.... But I can't kill myself, life is beyond looks.

It's a normal thing now have seen a case where a ugly guy was bullying another guy because he was uglier than him

Well i don't know whether i am attractive or unattractive,same way i don't know what are my good and bad habits about time to go fix the loosened screw upstairs.

It is human nature stop wailing. The rich (politicians, pastors, yahoo boys, billionaires) 96% of the time only marry stunning women. Such is life. Happens in animals kingdom too

Nature hardwired all of that into us reason being that
physical attractive qualities kind of construe better genes
hence an edge (POWER) over others in mating (nature is ALMOST all about that).

Nobody deserves to be treated badly regardless, but self

I'm attractive. Being attractive is too demanding, much expectations from you; people believe you're well to do, when you complain you're broke people don't believe you.. they be like "With this your fine skin" you are still broke.. they never believed a good looking person can drink garri for straight two days. This life no balance; mana Chukwu no go shame us.

You won't notice till if you were fine then now got into an accident. I remember when I had a hole in my face from an accident, I was treated like a disease, that was the day I knew how shallow people can be. Fine now though, just a dark spot today but it took years to look that way.

Well nobody's unattractive really sha, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder though. Buh most times, once somebody is not your spec, you tend to not give in a proper attention, hence regarded as being treated badly and those are the ones that would really treats you right most times.

Its because of the halo effect. Its natural people will always judge a book by its cover thus we will always assume unattractive people are bad or unproductive and attractive people Are good, kind etc until proven otherwise.

That's really messed up. Though it's natural, I believe it's a flaw -- the halo effect.
