derrick015: I can relate perfectly to your current state, I was once under this menace but thank God I'm on the pathway to freedom today... Don't mind those suggesting marriage is a cure for it, marriage would never cure lust. The first thing is, do you desire sincerely to be free, it is easy to mouth it off but are you really sure? If Yes, the solution is both physical and spiritual... You need to replace those habits by cultivating Christ like habit, I'd recommend you start off by reading books you can find on overcoming lust e.g "Every young man's battle".... God will only help you if you're willing to run, he won't run for you but be rest assured he will run with you.. Make it a daily goal to pray at least for 30 minutes each day, read at least one chapter of the Bible, also get one verse of the Bible you'll meditate on each day, you can set up constant reminders for this verse using your notepad. The battle is gradually won, it might look difficult at first but trust me as you continue, you will begin to see improvements not only in this aspect but other areas of your life as well |

Wow I understand with u my brother. Believed me the starting point is talking out and that u have done. In all ur friends and or members of ur church, u must have somebody whom u think is prayerf and doesn't talk much. A godly sister or brother can also help. Then if that doesn't seems easy for u go to ur man of God and plsss make sure ur pastor is not a type that's uses people story to preach sermon.... Be prayerful and believed that it doesn't exist again. Plsss delete those things and please listen to godly songs . . . to all nairalander this is our duty to pray for him and God will answer us cos we r more than one. |

I was once in that mess before but I overcame it by. 1: determining to be a better person and condemning it by myself. 2: being more prayful and getting new friends that things of God pleases. 4: dropping my android phone and get acquainted with small phone( Nokia touch). 5: i gave out my DVD player. It was only the grace of God that saved me from it. You must pray so hard to overcome it but first delete all porn elements in your devices and stop watching romantic movies alone. With my will power, I have battled with this addiction for over 15 years without victory. This experience has made me appreciate the scripture that says “My people perish through lack of knowledge”. When you apply the keys, addictions and problems that plague us will literally melt away. I tried so many things to stop but nothing worked permanently. For me, my masturbation addiction was fueled by watching pornography. Hence if I could cut off pornography, I had won 70% of the battle. I show you a more excellent way - Here are the practical steps I took: 1. Covenant Eyes: I installed the mobile app “Covenant Eyes” and I literally felt the urge to watch porn melt away. The app works by installing a VPN on your phone that prevents you from accessing explicit sites. When my mind knows that I cannot physically access those sites – the urge to watch those materials significantly reduces. Another thing I did was to stay within the boundaries that this app created for me. This means that I never tried to circumvent or bypass the app. The app charges $15.99 monthly. Paying for this month is also part of the discipline. You also get an accountability partner that keeps you straight. 2. Cutting Time on Social Media: Social media (IG in particular) was another trigger for me. I have intentional cut down my time on social media to 1hr 30 mins daily. Do yourself a favor and track the amount of time spent on social media and you’ll realize how much time is wasted on surfing the internet aimlessly. I set a timer on my phone and strictly followed this restriction. This helped me a lot with discipline. If I could discipline myself with addictive social media then I can cut out other vices. 3. I am Sober: I installed the mobile app “I am Sober” to help me track my daily sobriety progress. I daily pledge to stay sober and logged my progress. The more days I accumulated, the more I didn’t want to go back. They give you rewards for each milestone you achieve and there is a community of people that post their experiences. I’ve currently exceeded the 70 days mark. On days I feel low, I read comments of people who have been sober for 6 months, 1 year and more. This serves as a huge motivation. This app is free. 4. Better Habits: I picked up more productive habits like exercising daily and reading Christian books. I read a book on “Regions of Captivity” by Anna Farrell and I got to appreciate the spiritual dimension of masturbation and addictions in general. Anything that tries to dominate your will power is certainly demonic because even God gave us our will power freely. 5. Praying Daily and Praying in the Spirit: We can do all things through Christ that strengthens us – including conquering masturbation. Praying daily has given me Grace and strengthened me to fight and conquer the addiction on a daily basis. My motivation to break this addiction was my love for God. These steps greatly reduced the urge to the point that my will power could easily overcome. Please know that this is a daily fight but it gets easier each passing day. I know a couple of people will comment that there is nothing wrong with masturbation or the post is too long but this message is not for them. This message is for people serious about breaking these chains. Please try the steps above – you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. I’ve realized that masturbation is one of the perfect tools that enemy uses to keep souls bound. For masturbation, the victim is in a perpetual helpless cycle that gives the enemy legal right to afflict. If you are currently battling with this addiction, please know that it is a battle you can surely win. I’ll be talking from my experience and how through God’s Grace, this evil departed from me. 1, Be accountable to someone Let there be someone around you that you can be vulnerable to, someone that you know won’t judge you, someone that cares about your well being. Anytime you do this, report yourself to the person. The person should be someone you’ve some sort of reverence for. 2, Do not focus on it Don’t focus on it, Whatever you feed will grow. Make a conscious effort to do things that takes your mind of it. Fight the thoughts yourself. If someone you can overpower comes to your home to steal from you without a weapon, won’t you fight back? Fight those thoughts off your mind. 3, Keep renewing your mind with the word of God. This is the most potent for me. The devil knows what you can do when you’re focus on God, so his pivotal aim is push away from his presence. This is why you’re feeling reluctant to attend church services. Do exactly what he doesn’t want you doing: learning more about your maker. Study the Bible like your life depends on it, your only tv stations now should be faith network, tbn, day star. Follow preachers like: Stephen Furtick, Michael Todd 4,Fasting and praying: The more you fast and pray, the more you weaken the dominance of your flesh. @op,firstly you need to geniunely make up your mind to quit the habit. This will not be an easy journey. Get rid of every access to internet/porn for atleast 60days. sell off your smart phone and laptop. get a touch lite. As time goes on the urges will reduce,your will power will become stronger. I can't type much,but one thing is that the benefits you will start enjoying after 60-90days will encourage you to give up masturbating. Have believe in yourself that you can stop it. is not easy though. Buh set target for yourself. You can say to yourself that you aren't gonna watch ponography for like a month. When the urge is coming, try and look for something that will make u busy by that time. Before you know it, The urge of watching it will disappear. But i must warn him, he MUST pray always, in and out of season. Pray multiple times a day like the muslims do, pray pray and pray always, without constant prayer he cannot survive 3 days without masturbating. Masturbation is more spiritual than physical, he'd see ladies (demons) frequently coming to have sex with you in the dream. Bros this is a battle for your life!!! A negative addiction can only be replaced by another which may be positive or negative. He has to be addicted to studying the Word of God, just as frequently as he used to masturbate and watch porn. What does this do? It replaces the lustful images in his head with heavenly insights. As a man thinketh si does he act. When one's head is filled with God's word, porn, lust and anything which is not of God can not be found. Light and darkness cannot meet, one must give way for the other (light always wins). They want a sexual relationship with you without your consent. You need deliverance from demons to stop masturbation and to be free completely from it. To be free from demons, you need to spend time to fast and praise God. Fasting uproots deeply any demonic activities in our lives and praise drives them out as well. |
