Point of correction i am not one of those who considers Messi overrated. As far as i am concerned i'll take him over Ronaldo any day. He's the GOAT based on what i've seen. We are discussing coaches anyway, so bringing players into the discussion is quite unnecessary. The criteria for judging players, at least generally is different from that of coaches. Besides we all know De Lima's career could have been much more spectacular barring the injuries, so i odn't know why you brough that up. You just want us to know that you have been watching football for a while? grin Well you are not the only one.
Besides it's not about what you want, but more of what you can do. Majority of clubs cannot afford to pay him and also get him the hundred of millions of dollars in budget he needs every year. grin. Just a note bro.
barackodam:

The way you people dey take share this "overrated" tag.

He's the most decorated manager in Europe, probably the world, but he's overrated.

That's right....

Messi is overrated for not leaving la liga also, he's overrated for not winning with Argentina.

De Lima is overrated for not winning UCL also.

Bla bla bla.

Make we hear word biko.

He's overrated, yet, all of your clubs would scramble to sign him the moment he's up for grabs.

Overrated indeed

This thread has been derailed and it's very sad and so disrespectful. You guys are European soccer addicts and I am not that why I visit this place to engage in discussions that deliberate on Nigeria football.

You guys could still take your discussions to European football threads but you chose to bring it here and enjoys our audience while the clubs you support has open thread and nobody visits them because you guys are not real fans. I create threads for European clubs and you can go there and slug it out.

For the past one week , most of you have been bombarding us with materials we dont need. It's painful and I will start reporting you and have you banned. The question is why would UEFA be out to get Man City?
City were just unfortunate nothing more, if Sterling had buried that equalizer it would have been a totally different story and the game could have gone either way

No mind sterling

Again , this thread is strictly for Nigeria football including the NPFL. I love our local league but we rarely discuss it but every ffuckung day we read Messi , Guadiola or Ronaldo ad though they are Nigerians our have Nigeria players/ team mates. It's shows the depth of our inability to follow instructions and set rules.

My point is simple. The blatant cheating of Manchester City needs to stop.

We get repeated illegitimate calls that we Manchester City fans are used to it. We expect it most time and it is a dent to the football game.

From a penalty given for a tackle outside the box (Demichelis vs Messi)
Llorente Handball goal allowed.
Son offside goal allowed
Fabinho goal after a clear handball from Trent Arnold
Yesterday, a clear offside interference and foul but the goal stood.
An illegal ban from the champions league by UEFA.

All these against one club and you call it excuses?

That is unfair and makes wonder why people are quick to support injustice against others.

This is unfair and needs to stop.

Oga, stop this thing already...
There is no gang up anywhere expect in your imagination..

If every club decides to take action against UEFA because of some questionable calls that went against them, trust me,UEFA would have been disbanded since.....

Just accept the loss and move on..

Thank you Idennaa. I was going to point this out again soon enough but I just let them have their field day. The usual culprits know themselves. It's okay to have snippets of it mentioned from time to time but some just turn the thread into a Mini-Uefa house and extend discussions. No attempt on some people's part to remind the other that this is a Super Eagles thread and they should not derail any further. It is not fair ooo.

Guys, you people have derailed enough. Respect the thread and take more elaborate Euro discussions to the European football subsection of the Sports section. Thank you.

Oga Semid4lyfe. Another moniker have pointed this derailing thing out. I leave it at your doorsteps.

Its hard to pass by on the apex of football without making discussions about.

I hope you know most clubs are on break and national team football has been paused for a long time. It is impossible for a thread of football enthusiasts not to discuss what is going on in the football circle with those they are familiar with.

When National team football kicks into full gear, that is all we will discuss about. For today, most are interested in what Lopetegui has installed for Ole Gunner Solksjaer.

We will also discuss what happened yesterday night. I bet you, even Ikpeba, Oliseh, Kanu Amunike, Okocha, Finidi, Mutiu, Adokie Amiesimaka and the rest are discussing yesterday's game.

So chill.

I agree with you. On UCL nights, We cannot help it. Discussions must arise and that is why I don't mention the derailing thing pertaining to those particular matchdays. Today in the Europa league, more will follow b'cos of Sevilla vs Man Utd. Another La Liga vs EPL debate is getting set to take center stage on this thread during and after today's semifinal between Man Utd and Sevilla.

My only concern is we should be mindful not to drag it beyond its necessity here. I believe matured minds should understand that. It is well.

You lost. It's as simple as that. You could hypothesize on what Guardiola was thinking or what he was not thinking? Oya. Story Story, Story. grin. You are not even ashamed of your takes. Which one be, "there's a big part of joy for them to", at whose expense?
[quote author=TheGoodJoe post=92879677]

I think misconception is regular when it concerns my comments. Maybe due to ideas people have created around me.

You too want us to know you do know some of the players that have featured for Lyon over the years. You have a very good memory too. Clap for yourself @GoodJoe. Clap for yourself. Very impressive. grin
I am proud of Lyon. I have loved them since the time of Ben Arfa and Benzema. For Christ sake, even though we lost, there is a big part of joy for them too.

I also am a huge fan of Rudi Garcia from when he was coaching Hazard and Gervinho in Lille. So I am okay losing.
.

It seems you could do better than Guardiola. How about you go and get a license. And perhaps you may have learned one or two things as i suggested earlier. Playing a defensive game is not as easy as you guys think. He chose to play a slightly defensive game and he got a kick to his balls. grin. A defensive stategy abi na tactics you dey call am cheesy is indeed an art and some have mastered it.
I also believe Guardiola made a big mess of the Match because he has made us a fan of playing on the full offensive. We have literally done it all the time he was here.

Why he tinkered with the formation to play 3 central defenders and two dmfs remains a mystery and disappointing.

For that alone, I think we deserve to lose the game to kill that orientation growing in his mind.

Aren't you ashamed of this point my friend? Aren't you? Guardiola was scared? Are you kidding me? I'll agree with this point though. He did mess it up starting with that formation, but he reversed most of it when Mahrez was brough in the the 56th minute, in which case DeBruyne falls back into a midflield of 3 with Mahrez and Sterling on the flanks. So there was still a lot of time to nail Lyon. Perhaps his offnesive game must be on fo 90 minutes to work. grin
My take, Guardiola was scared of Bayern Munich after they destroyed his beloved Barcelona in such manner. The last thing he wanted was to get something similar and was testing a defensive tweak he would approach the Bayern game and it backfired.

Well well, this age old excuse again. I'll give you the second. There was a foul on Laporte in the build up. But how did Ederson fumble the third? You could have put the game to bed early on like Bayern did.
So I am not bitter that we lost. I am bitter that the referee and VAR officials decided to carryout such a corrupt act by allowing an illegitimate goal stand.

Take your loss in good grace and do better next time. grin
This needs to stop because it is ruining the beauty of the game. The target of Manchester City needs to stop. It is so unfair.

The problem is that you think I am joking or playing games. I love City but I believe in playing football the possessive and offensive way. One person that increased my belief in it is Guardiola. I want him not to have that defensive mentality.

So losing is taking in good faith. If we learn from it, it is a win situation.

Consoled with the fact that Rudi Garcia is going to the semi finals. Also Lyon. Not all that a sad story for me a footie fan.

A little Off-topic....I was seriously waiting for this one.

KDB crowned The EPL's EASports Premier league player of the season.

Well deserved! Shows how biased those guys at the Football writers association of England (FWA) are for selecting Henderson as their choice for the FWA version of the award.

Excellence should be awarded and not sentiments.

Kevin "De Brains" was easily the most worthy. Now he bags the bigger one. I expect him to bag the PFA Fans player of the season and the PFA players' player of the sesson awards also. KDB had a wicked season. 37 goals+assists from CM. A beast Midfielder. The kind I want in my Super Eagles.
