Abeg abeg. We need to knock these guys out. As it is they now have hope
I don't think it will be that easy. Momentum is on their side right now. In fact you should be very afraid

Jacob Blake’s shooting once again makes me sick to the stomach..Should the players boycott the rest of the season? I will tell you it is gathering momentum and it will not shock me if they choose to stop playing even though it seems distant at this time.

Officers are supposed to deescalate situations not escalate them to dangerous points where lives are at stake. Very sickening..
Even if they boycott the season these people won't stop shooting. In fact if I'm Giannis I'm looking at George Hill sideways for that statement he made. Playing or not playing does not change anything

Unless there is some form of civil disobedience and coordinated protests, not this one we just witnessed but organized and not performative bs. This thing will never change. The gap of what constitutes as a threat is too wide and too much power has been given to these officers to interpret as they deem fit.

This is what will happen in China and the Middle East and Holier than thou Americans go begin chook mouth

Jamal Murray. This is what you want to see from big money players. That 360 layup at the end of the 3rd!!!! The boy is a fuckin savage. He singlehandedly extended the Nuggets season. I hope he can repeat Game 6.

We want a Game 7!!

Gonna be 6 games. I dont see blazers losing 4 in a row. I expect whiteside and nurkic to make impact next game. But the coach doesnt look like he can make Lillard change his game
I told you Lillard or no Lillard that series was not getting to 6 games.

Nurkic and Whiteside are not half decent defenders that can remotely slow down AD. And that Blazers team was sorely lacking in depth.

I hope PG is sure he has finally turned a corner. I hope he's sure this performance is not 1 good in a about half a dozen samples. He's definitely following someone's lead here. cheesy. Perhaps the elders can help us with that. But what's the fuss about the pandemic got to me or the pandmeic has interrupted my routine. You are all under the same conditions. So others should have been affected as much as you've been. He better hopes he doesn't drop poverty stats in subsequent games. cheesy

While I am not holding forth for him, humans are not robots. What affects A may not affect B. The effect of the pandemic on individuals will be different because our perceptions are different and we experience things differently.
Re: The NBA Begins by benji93: 8:44pm On Aug 26, 2020
This is a competitive sport man. I don't want to undermine the fact that we are different, but then all the players can come out and complain about this and that being the reason they faltered or failed to win. perhaps the NBA should have been scrapped as we are different. It's clear why there's a lot of talk about this year's championship having asterisk. If one guy wins, well the others must have been badly affected by the pandemic. Or if another guy loses his performance must have been seriously impaired by the pandemic. Way to go.
Besides my point is, i would expect him to keep quiet finish this series or the play offs, then talk about it. I would want him to be sure about the reason he's playing badly. Perhaps it's just his way in the playoffs.

Giannis DPOY. Congrats to him. Perhaps this is going to be a compensation for losing the MVP to LeBron cheesy
I hope this is not the case!

There is no way Lebron deserves MVP more than Giannis. I mean what the F. !

I could understand if Giannis comes second as DPOY to maybe AD or even Gobert, but MVP is not even close. In fact, the fact that Giannis is in both conversation is enough reason to make him MVP!

The way I see it is that the pandemic created a certain kind of environment and danger that certain kinds of people/athletes will thrive in while certain others will wilt.

The pandemic with all its consequences can be seen as a revealer of vulnerabilities and of levels of resilience and of adaptation and of flexibility.

For example, some players can perform better without the fans, while some will need to draw their motivation and energy from the fans.

Some people can thrive in war times but are nobody's in peace time. The war is an opportunity for those who have been built for war time to shine, for those who can adapt to thrive and for those who can't to cower and to lose.

I no talk am? The Bucks are refusing to come out of the dressing room for game 5 because they want to boycott the rest of the postseason. Top NBA officials/ exeecutives are now scampering and now inside their dressing room trying to save the situation and have them play.

It's possible that more teams will join the protest by boycotting games..

The whole season may be cancelled self...

What will they say about health workers that are in the line of fire every day. A lot of these athletes are just entitled and that's the truth. It's easy to take certain stands because your livelihood does not require you to show up at work every day

Well you called it. I do hope they have more planned than just simply not playing.

Actionable plans, sponsoring lawsuits and more importantly getting more white owners to be passionate about reforms. Make them see these people getting shot as potential fans that put money in your pocket one way or another.

Is he now supporting the players' boycott because he doesn't want to be seen as the only black man who is against it at this heated moment, or is he in support because he truly believes that the boycott can do some good?

Are these guys (the players) going to lose any money whatsoever?
I doubt it,even the guys that didn't get into the bubble still got their money.

That next CBA contract negotiations go be like world war 3.

The problem for the nba in CBA negotiations unlike the nfl is that the big stars in the nba will all have alternatives. I remember during the last lock out that some of the marquee players had tentative lucrative deals with european teams, in case the season did not hold.
Last last IMHO basketball is so global now that i think most of the big players can hold owners to ransom because they can easily get alternative employers and also because the NBA is a star driven league

the NBA is the NBA because the best wants to be there and it pays well too.
i don't follow nfl stuff but i know they have leagues in canada and europe they even have a rival league in america that just close down.
the europe thing is a bluff because the best in the world wants to play in the NBA.
giannis and luka are the best player in europe at the moment and they play in the NBA.
stars will come and stars will go bro. and not all of them are out and out millionaires the middling guys in the league have a huge say too

Wrong.

The XFL was never a rival to the NFL.

Bro calm down. Look at it this way: if they never played, there would be no leverage for players to skip games. The fact that they returned to work gives the opportunity to choose the terms of work.

This is a marathon battle. Emotions are not enough, they fade. After you cry, dry your eye and execute strategy. If u say your strategy is to not play at all, cool. What are your next steps?

For me, just staying home is useless. The fact that the players are active has amplified their voice. You cant block out lebrons comments on national tv right sfter a game. Just my thots...

Just to add im not against ending the season. Its up to the players on this one. But it is going to be painful either way

I get your analogy but remember that what we were dealing with(still are to an extent) since February was an existential fear. Will I live or die? What will happen to my loved ones? There is no logic to such fears. It's primal, it's primitive, it's animalistic.

The effect on individuals and their loved ones will be different and the effect on their thinking and actions and behaviours and performance and preparedness as athletes will be different.

I also mentioned that the effect of the absence of fans on players will be different depending on their makeup.

Some people thrive in uncertainties and fear, some just shut down and some are overwhelmed by the curves the pandemic threw them. So I believe these factors have played out to varying degrees in this bubble.

It's not the only factor at play in this bubble but it is an important factor worth considering and noting.

It’s all “eye service” or better still, “speaking when convenient”.

This is the same Charles that said Players shouldn’t be vilified if they choose to not kneel for the anthem during the NBA restart,

I wonder where that energy was when kap took the knee 4 years ago. . .
