For traders planning to enter the market right now, it will be advisable to wait for pullbacks that may happen after payment of interim dividends by UGAZ before entering. For long termers Zenith, Access and UBA are still cheap,my price limit for buying Zenith is N23. Wapco is getting ready for some serious movement, 3rd quarter result will assure doubting thomases of Wapco's full recovery. The new CBN policy that led to a meagre bank deposit rate of 1.35% will definitely bring some liquidity to the market. The good times seems to be here or not far away. 9 Likes |

meine: What of your price limits for buying ACCESS & UBA? |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by meine: 4:45pm On Sep 04, 2020 |
onegentleguy: I just saw this and decided to Chip in. This suggestion of swapping UBA for ACCESS does not seem to make investment sense taking into consideration that you will spend almost 3% on transaction charges when the transaction is completed. That's not even considering the fact that UBA may pay a higher dividend than ACCESS by full year. If you have premised your argument on a potential higher price or dividend payout by ACCESS this may make sense. |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by meine: 4:50pm On Sep 04, 2020 |
ukay2:I won't pay more than N9 for UBA and N7 for Access Bank. |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ukay2: 4:57pm On Sep 04, 2020 |
meine: Exactly what I said earlier. UBA is more mature compared to ACCESS in terms of Dividend payments and Co-operate Governance |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by ukay2: 4:59pm On Sep 04, 2020 |
meine: Thank you Sir. My buy limit for UBA is N7....not Access fan....but will have same N7 for Access |

onegentleguy: meine: Hey meine, did u actually read the part in bold from the post u quoted before replying to it? ...or would u require an interpreter to help demystify that part for u? Not sure u did, otherwise u would've have been able to make some SENSE, of that which already makes complete sense. ...but if u still couldn't, pls feel free to ride on with what u believe in- ok. Different perspectives makes investing a dynamic game. Selah 2 Likes |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by onegentleguy: 5:41pm On Sep 04, 2020 |
ukay2: My Pleasure Sir !! There are 2 items to make of that post, If understood it well. 1) The swap/portfolio rebalancing is determined by the near term reward(possible cash flow from div and cap appreciation) and the quality of the assets under consideration(comparison of current fundamental stand in view) 2) Ur risk appetite and investment horizon. Perhaps u forgot that the said guy can also decide to go back to his previous portfolio allocation weighting on the 2 coys before that YE benefit after making some gains. He is not there to hold either coys forever. ...the sole aim is just to increase his chances of an ACTUAL RETURN from his EXPECTED RETURN while making the best use of time.(time value for money in view) Note the use of the phrase; "increase his chances" Again, note how he did not liquidate his entire holding in UBA. He merely increased the weighting in the other(ACCESS). ...for a good reason though. Anyway, ur resolve is also not bad. I wish u well in ur endeavour. Regards |

ukay2: I am inclined to go the other way (Access ==> UBA). I haven't seen the effects of the hyped acquisition of Diamond Bank by Access. Large turnover (revenue) without a commensurate accretion to the bottom line. |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by meine: 6:18pm On Sep 04, 2020 |
onegentleguy:Okay you did mention price appreciation later in your post which is only speculative, it may happen and it may not happen. However the quoted portion of your analogy suggests dividend payment as the reason for the swap which I repeat does not make investment sense. Should he exit UBA to buy ACCESS Bank because he wants to earn 3% dividend while your total transaction fees will amount to 3%. My brother you didnt think that aspect through at all. Also, It doesn't make sense to exit UBA for Access right now based on the efficiency factor. Access seems to be the opposite of GTB in terms of efficiency. If I were the investor I will rather stick to UBA based on final dividend payment history. Their share price also moves like a Siamese twins, they may not be far apart in the end. 3 Likes |

onegentleguy: meine: That's why its imperative to read through and assimilate in totality, the content of a post before rushing to draw up conclusions. ...common sense means that u should ask questions or tweak ur revert/reply at such, if the context of a post appears unclear, but not draw up non-existent inference. On that word in bold, have u also considered that there's also a possibility that even UBA may declare less of a dividend by 2020 YE than that of previous yr guidance? Perhaps u should tell us if u were aware that UBA would pay less than the 20k interim of 2019 after its superb Q1, 2020 report? ...or maybe that ACCESS will maintain its interim from previous yr after its Q1 report. Or maybe u should tell us(backing it with financial Nos) if UBA is currently better than ACCESS in view of their just released H1 report. Pls always strive to understand the context of a post 1st... from there, u might now begin to better apply common sense with assigning the 2nd part of ur post in bold. Not sure if u truly understood the essence of that post u quoted. Read the post above and try to reason through that part in bold. But if u still don't get it, then am sorry, I can not help u. ...just ride on with whatever u believe in my dear. Regards 1 Like |

onegentleguy:You obviously take yourself too serious, regurgitating the same point over and over again. I say again that the analogy you made with UBA and ACCESS was myopic and erroneous at best. It's very naive of you to advise an investor to take such action. If Access was selling cheaper at say N5 than UBA at say N7 that would make perfect sense. And If your argument was only based on price appreciation which is a purely speculative venture,I am sure about 7 words would have explained your point clearly ,it's not by writing a complete textbook on such a simple matter. Also if comprehension is one of your challenges my brother there is nothing I can do about it, I have explained myself the best way I can. The issue is with the analogy you made nothing more. That analogy doesn't make commonsense. I am not so jobless to be rereading what doesn't make sense. Our matter on UACN is still in the cooler, I just let that issue slide for obvious reasons. When investors in GTB are sitting in almost 20 to 40% profit, we don't know the next bombshell of a result that UACN will drop. It's a similar scenario playing out here, you can never be corrected when you make funny analysis. One love bro. 11 Likes |

onegentleguy: meine: Alright dear. Funny how u craftily avoided supplying answers to the simple questions I asked above. ...not surprised though. I knew u can't answer to them. Anyway, I assume u also didn't read through the part in bold, so let me help u repost it one last time. And just in case u require an interpretation to that, it simply means; U ARE RIGHT !! ...so just lead on with ur belief. I already gave u enough time. Have other fishes to fry my dear !! Do take care of u and be a good chap. 1 Like |

I am heavily invested in both ACCESS and UBA and I wasnt expecting a great result from the UGAZ at this time because COVID is a leveler for every company. However ACCESS the biggest bank in Nigeria by customer base need to up its game and take serious mentorship from GTB. How can you grow Earnings by a whooping 20% from 324billion in 2019 to 396billion in 2020 yet your EPS dropped by 9% from 1.90 to 1.73? 3 Likes 1 Share |
