Could be a possibility.
You know UPDC has some assets in choice areas like VI, etc. They must have looked beyond her present state I think.

Yes I believe, those assets are the reasons they are investing in UPDC.

Access responding to interim div.
Zee and UBA: Seems village pple is still on their case. smiley
After checking Fcmb Q2 result and the YE forecast, I think the coy looks cheap at current price to me.
So also Fidelity.......some village pple investors are still on her case too. grin
I may be very wrong though.

**This is just observation. Not any form of buy/sell advice.

I think Access is responding to a fantastic HY result. They almost made #100B (#96B higher) in earnings despite the virus against HY 2019. Much higher than GT and Zenith It shouldn't be trading @7.

Very sound perspective, i know the guys at custodian they are some of the best managers around. They wouldnt have bought UPDC without a good reason. I also think UPDC will continue to operate as a stand alone for now.
You're right Sir.
I also blvd Custodian won't just go for UPDC without expertise advice.

UPDC, Zenith Bank, LASACO Shares Witness Heavy Transactions

LASACO has been witnessing large transactions since markdown, even today as well.
One of the cheapest insurance coy in my opinion. Near future should rightly place the fair price.

** Just Mcy's opinion. I may be very wrong. DD applies.

Very likely. They already own over N9 billion of investment properties as at last year end and this made up about 7% of their total assets. The 51% of UPDC they bought will almost double that figure "notionally" by end of 2020.

Possibly, investors are repositioning ahead of the planned capital raise. The CEO has guided that there will be a private placement/rights issue to meet NAICOMs deadline. Lagos State Government remains the highest shareholder.

......and Lagos State will most likely pump money into the coy.
Naicom's deadline is 2021.......don't know the month yet......but it seems it's September or something.
Guess some insiders are already positioning now. The transactions were huge these few days.

GTB Conference Call Ongoing....

First question on proposed HOLDCo grin grin

His Answer

Holdco preparation going very well and it will go live by Q1 2021. There will be a one for one share exchange i.e. one share in GTBank will be changed for one share in the Holdco.

The bank will be split into three - GT Nigeria, GT East Africa and GT West Africa.

Also expected on board before HoldCo goes live in Q1 2021 are an asset management company, a PFA and a payment company. Due diligence is currently ongoing on an entity that has asset management and PFA. They will apply for licence for a payment company next week.

Dividend Policy

Year end dividend policy will remain unchanged. The bank will pay between 60% to 65% of year end profit after tax.

Yes. First deadline is December 31, 2020. They have to come up with half of the capital by then and the balance by September 30, 2021.

I want to believe you are talking in terms of the drop in EPS. It was expected. Access was on the news sometimes this year for 2 issues it had.

Access is getting it right. By the time those who are waiting for it to be right enter, it will be trading in double digits as standard price.

This is not a buy recommendation.

Not really about the EPS but about the coy's buy-buy in recent times, as well as the diamond acquisition. smiley
Access tried with the interim dividend.....wonder where banks get such kind of monies........acquired other coy's and still made that kind of profit.
It's well.

Looking at my charts: Brent has entered into a bearish vortex.

There is a high possibility of Brent going below $20. If it goes towards the March low of 16, then all oil producing countries will battle with revenue issues, currency crisis, social instability.

Something should cause Brent to spike and rise rapidly after touching the low. Is it a war? Who are the parties in the war? I don't know. But if oil falls low again, a catalyst will force it to rise very fast.

Wait for Bitcoin at 3,200 those who do cryptos.

... you have switched to bear info.

Good one dear !!
Hello people, meet a fellow who understands the fine lines in a financial print.
...someone who knows that ACCESS is better off than UBA at the moment. H1 result clearly defined those fine lines.

Which was one of the reasons I advised for a higher portfolio weighting in ACCESS ahead of UBA. ...a 70/30% or 65/35% funding allocation given the likelihood of a higher return in the former ahead of the latter.
And some dumb a** who can't even interpret an INCOME STATEMENT, which by the way, is the most simple part of a company's financial print was busy arguing "with common sense". wink cheesy grin

There is nothing some of us will not see on this street. wink cheesy grin

It is well.

Because based on the Nos in their current financial print, one is clearly ahead of the other.
Compare Nos in their statement of CF and BS.

In view of their just released H1, 2020 report, what would u do if u hold 1M unit of UBA and about 370,000 unit of ACCESS BANK? ...someone asked me ealier today.

I asked him; Which is greater btw a possible N170,000+ return and a N250,000+ return(ROI)? ...he said the latter.
And I said; then I would seek to swap my holding in both coys.(1M unit in ACCESS and 370,000 in UBA)

The reason I wouldn't sell off all stakes in UBA to buy ACCESS is because an investor can also derive a premium above the difference in div cashflow(including WHT) of N92,500(i.e 342,000-250,000 btw gong all in on access and buying 1m unit) from cap appreciation holding some UBA over the same timeframe.

Dude later informed me he managed a successful swap in UBA for ACCESS. ...he did the swap @ same N6.5 price peg.
I simply congratulated him !!
We'll see if it was the right portfolio rebalancing move.

Note that the + sign above is because of the consideration for a possible cap appreciation.

For near same reason and more, it would be miles better to swap a certain WAPCO ahead of both BUA and DANGOTE CEMENT looking ahead into the end of the yr.
...I'd say the time to do that is now !!
And a swap btw WEMA and JAIZ/UNITY BANK? ...absolutely !! wink cheesy grin
What about a swap btw ZENITH and GTB or a swap btw ACCESS and ZENITH/GTB?
...well, that would depend on a few other factors, part of which is your risk appetite and investment horizon.

NOTE: This isn't just about potential cash flow from dividends alone. ...added to that is the consideration of the degree of possible cap/price appreciation in view of their recent financial reports.

Another wise fellow.
After all the acquisitions(including the recent expansion to increase their African footprint) and the setbacks which naturally affected their NIM(lower interest income in view), the bank(access) still made that much NPM and dolled out that much cash(div declaration). ...this was at the back of a not-too-good Q1, 2020 report oo.

Contrarily, UBA after delivering a fantastic result in Q1, decided to prioritize their expense line in Q2 ahead of working for the common good of the shareholders. ...which also bore the lower cash declaration.
Moving from a great Q1(the best performing amongst the 1st tier banking coys then) to the worst performing in Q2(also among the 1st tiers) is a red-flag.
Its also the only 1st tier bank that declared less of a dividend(interim) than previous yr guidance.
While it(UBA) remains undervalued @ the current mkt price(see my past guidance), there are genuine reasons to want to hold a little more of ACCESS than it.
It's not just about whether the latter might distribute more div to holders by YE 2020. ...a shrewd investor looks beyond that. He knows that real return(reward in view) is measured not just by the possibility of a cash flow accrual, but by the feasible QUALITY of an asset at any given time !!

The point is; Both are good, but which is better? Clearly ACCESS... hence the advise to align more in it ahead of UBA.(portfolio weighting in view)

And some dude who's yet to learn even the smallest details on FA was arguing blindly.
Maybe u and nna777 should help @meine with a bit of common sense. ...just a bit !! wink cheesy grin

If we begin to analyse the pros and cons in the 2 coys FP, some persons eyes go clear. shocked shocked
Maybe then, they'll understand and appreciate the reason for that advise on portfolio weighting.

For the records; I also hold UBA. ...but its totally logical to hold more ACCESS than it for now.

Regards
