God bless you for that decision...... some parents will just take the gift and allow their children slide into covetousness and life struggles
On top of PS4?

I agree with the OP's reasoning.
To Those shouting poverty mentality and hustle, please note, everyone will not and can not be rich. Therefore, everyone should train his child to the very best of his ability.

The rich child shared PS4, how much does a PS4 CD cost, who would be buying the games to be played on the PS4?

It is one thing to have a gift and it is another to maintain that gift.

The interesting thing is that most people shouting can't even afford one. The are only blinded by their greedy nature.

I like people like you that collect anything, it will be nice to know you more.

Gift infact can make you indebted to someone forever that is gifts are used to manipulate people, people like you will be easy to fall victim.

GOD PUNISH POVERTY

As i have understand, POOR PEOPLE HAVE NO PRINCIPLE.

I agree that gifts can make you indebted. This was a birthday, once in a year stuff. It's not like the person is giving you these kind of gifts every now and then. It is once in a whole year. Next year the children might not even be in the same class.
And it is not like that child or parent has demanded anything in return. If they begin to feel entitled because they gave your child a gift, that that is a good enough reason to return it.
This parent is just funny. He has denied his child an opportunity to have a PS4. Now if everyone in school is talking about their PS4 and the game, he will have absolutely nothing to say.

Poverty mentality mixed with inferiority complex

It's a gift and am sure it would have been what the child (celebrant) wished for.. I am sure no inscription on the box reads you must Payback with similar gesture.

Why don't u stop breathing because you think u can't pay God what it worth.

You go your friend party he serve you rice and chicken shey that one mean say u no go invite am come yours cos na rice Nd fish u fit afford.

And for those Mofos saying PS4 is counter productive, you need to do more research. Gaming helps develop mental reasoning and decision making, the only bad side is addiction, and we all know addiction to any thing is likely dangerous.

Modified.
Let's assume the father of the celebrant gets to know about such act from the child's father, in the future when such child need his connection to get something am sure he might be skeptical offering a hand....when you can afford a school where your child can mix with the influential what you teach them is power of humility, sharing and contentment. You don't create enemies for them because of perceived competition

You have said it all... I duff my hat at you. More wisdom fall on u

Lol. wrong thinking. If he is gifted a car and can't fuel the car, service the car or maintain the car, why should he keep the car? The same applies to a house.

Would he return d car or sell it? If u are given a gift above your standard, convert it to cash, win win.

Thank God you call it Gift....is the reason for returning worth it? NO

Why don't u stop breathing because you think u can't pay God what it worth.

Stop bringing God in all this. This is nauseating. You can use another logic. Meanwhile op did wonderfully well. The child has been taught for life a valuable lesson the gift can never ever teach. Those that are shouting poverty mentality, oga hustle, I am convinced OP is better off than majority of you. OP sent a strong message to the school.

You have a lowself esteem.

Like people dont return gifts abroad.

Hungry people can never reject anything

With all due respect the reason for rejecting the gift is uncalled...to begin with did you ask
How old is the girl?
What kind of school is it?
What's the school standard?

This is exactly how a friend of mine younger sister who is 16yrs got pregnant for a 17yrs old boy in her class.

To the post, I have no issue with PS4 but the gift sharing concept is not right in that setting, the sch did not ask the celebrant to share the PS4, but they sure encouraged gift sharing.

Good decision u took. I had to stop my children from collecting birthday gifts in school, no matter what the gift is. The school knew about my position and so they always excused my chldren from such gifts. I observed my children and noticed they were happy to obey that instruction, maybe because I took time to explain to them my reasons. I am not persuaded to mention those reasons here because they are my personal convictions and may not be appealing to our present generation of 'parents'. But remember, you can only be sure of yourself. People can go to any extent. So don't raise your children to think the world is full of biscuits and sweets. Parents should put their eyes on the ground to know the dynamics of the children's learning environment. It's unfortunate most parents, especially, the fathers abandon school runs for the mothers. A lot go on in the school environment that ultimately determine what a school represents. Sometimes, a group of high-minded parents can indirectly take over the school management from school proprietors and start influencing every decision taken, from school uniforms to send-off parties. Parents must be seen to be part of their children's decisiion making at their formative stage.

At least you are not like the one that is returning the gift because he/she cannot afford it. You have told the school to exclude your children from all gift collections and your children are happy to be excluded for whatever reason best known to you
This parent is returning this particular gift because he/she cannot afford it. They didn't return other cheap gifts. What a mentality!

op just get very stupid reasoning. If a parent is rich enough to acheieve such a feat during their child birthdays party fine no problem. Na normal thing for rich pple. Rich kids will see it as a basic gift. Any child should deserve a ps4 console. But base on say poor man reasoning don chop op mentality nw na very expensive gift. And besides who even told u a rich person that can afford such money for a birthday celebration will be expecting a very huge present frm u knowing that fingers are not same. You for even use the gift as collateral sef. No 1st position no playing of ps4.
No 21 century parent would even try this.
At this point I rest my case
The only advice I have for u is op step up ur Hustle
Re: School Birthday Will Make Your Child Greedy by ayenale1(m): 7:03pm On Sep 24, 2020
OP please tell us did the celebrant gave all her classmates the video game or only your daughter.
If the celebrant gave the whole class gifts including your daughter, you have the right to accept or reject the gift as a parent and that other people on this platform to know not abuses.
If the celebrant gave only your daughter, if the celebrant is a boy then theres a connection between both of them which you must establish before taking a decision.
If the celebrant is a girl then you need to be very vigilant.
You have the right to accept or reject the gift not condemnation.

Guy you're a sadist.
No vex, you're a sadist.
Your child's mate gave an expensive gift to your child. Something that wasn't stolen.
You returned it back.
What happened to talking with your child's teacher while emphasising to your child that all fingers aren't equal.
What a sadist. Simply because you can't afford it then they must never receive it as a gift.
