Is there any requirement for the course?

u3fine:
It cost me $175 with discount. There are lots of training institutions offering this course online so you need to check them and go with what seems okay by you. But as for me i used Global Language Training, UK

thanks. but I think TEFL stands for teaching English as foreign language .So you can see that what we are talking about here is teaching English not physics or any other language.
meanwhile some of us will be happy to hear more from you about your friend and how he teach other subjects abroad on line. Or better still you can dedicate another thread for that, thanks once again for your response.
if I may repeat my question to the op. you told us earlier that you taught on line during the lock down in Vietnam where you are right now. we Just want to know if such opportunity abound back home in nija, some of us who are not yet ready to travel immediately may exploit such opportunity before being able to travel finally.

By the special grace of God January 2021 will not pass me.
I've completed my TEFL course on-line and all other requirements are available now except the police and medical which I intend doing in December due to the 6 months validity after which I will authenticate.
I've started applying for jobs already and getting both negative and positive response. Most said I should get back to them when the boarders are open.
I am also looking at China to teach because they pay more than in Vietnam.
At Whyna inspired me to take this part in leaving this country and start globe trotting via teaching English abroad with lots of opportunities.

Thank to the merciful God for healing your mum.

Hi bro, what is the update on your preparation? Can you please highlight some of the steps you have achieved? I want to start preparing too.

all my papers are ready except PCC and Medical. when I am ready to move I will get that and then go for the authentication.

I've had over 5 Skype interviews for centers in China. 1 center have already offered me a space but I told them I will like to come in January 2021. I need to save more before going.

Random advice and input.....

In additiion to what I already metioned in previous pages...

1. Use your airline kg well. Bring your essentials....

2. Compared to the income a month, you can survive on 40,000 naira a month or 60,000 if you drink and party. If you pay for accomodation, budget an extra 80,000 for something decent. By month end, you'll have much more than enough savings. Nothing less than $600

3. Vietnam is a tourist country. I haven't visited some places yet but you can go on vacations within Vietnam and have a swell time with beautiful memories

4. When you become friends with a Vietnamese family, you automatically become a family friend. They would randomly give you stuff to take home on each visit and almost always invite you over for lunch or dinner

5. Lunch is by 11am here. Lol

6. The school and teaching system is waaaayy different here. While we start with alphabets and then proceed to 2 letter words, the 3 and all that, They jump that. So it's common to see students who can read and write but can't speak and understand. It's even more amazing when you find an 8 year old who can read out words like computer, purple, rainbow but can't read simple words like The, If, Girl.......Cramming at work is my best guess. Those big words are learnt first mostly under vocabulary and pronouciation.

7. When you sign contracts here, accomodation or so, try to sign for 3 months irst. I'll be moving to new apartment. Cheaper and better.

8. Don't attempt to cook rice with pot here. It will burn and be undercooked. If your apartment doesn't have a rice cooker, it should be in your list of first things to buy

I'm still learning everyday and seeing things. Lol. If you want to teach here, also be ready to play games, be lively and fun and be a clown if you work with children

Chai!

I just like how you throw out these random (and very insightful!) tips, once in a while.

It's also surprising that they'd be willing to pay as much as $2,000 for the teaching job, given the relatively low cost of living there. Makes plenty sense. One can actually save a lot, if determined to do so.

Any tip on getting an interview with a Chinese school?
Re: My Journey To Hanoi, Vietnam by u3fine(m): 7:09am On Oct 13, 2020
Its just questions on why you want to teach and if you have taught before. Also they want to know if you can teach children and your relationship with working with children.

Thanks for the prompt response. What I want to know is the site you used in applying for the job. Secondly, I thought Non native speakers can't teach in China.

Yes they do accept but some province does not accept.

They will assist you in getting the Z visa to come and teach

Joohan:

Thanks for this!

Do they accept Non native speakers to teach ESL in China? Is the centre/school gonna get visa and work permit for the teacher?

One very important app to have in your phone is Skype or Wechat.
Either of this two is what they use for interviews

Schooling

On the issue of schooling, I do not know much and cannot authoritatively speak on it. However, some days ago, someone mentioned a particular school was looking to accept foreign students as a way to integrate and help their student learn English better.

She mentioned it's a four year course in either E-commerce or business infotech and it comes with a part time job. it's also ridiculously cheap. I think it's not up to $2000 for the four years. I can't remember.

I don't know if links are accepted so here's a screenshot. Go to the website, read through, send mails and get more info.

On this note, please don't DM me asking for information that is already on this thread. Please. It's not me snubbing. I take out time and my heart and write these things only for people not to read but come inbox like VVIP and request same info. Please understand.

If there is a question that wasn't answered on the school's website, then you can post questions here and I'll ask the lady. Her guy teaches there so the info would be accurate but first, check it out and see if it's something you'd like to embark on

If I haven't replied your mail yet, I'll get to it in time as I have tons of messages

DISCLAIMER:

I don't work with this school, I don't know the guy personally.

So please do your research thoroughly and carefully before you do anything
