Wapco Q3 2020 result

If this was a normal year, I will say this is a good result. But this year has been anything but normal. This is a fantastic result to say the least. Liquidity, loan book, Income etc for the 9month ended all looking great. It should reflect on share price next week.

From your calculation, if I buy N1m worth of UPDC shares on Monday, I will be getting close to N390,000 worth of UPDC REIT. This sound sweet. Should I go ahead? If not which stock will the house recommend from medium to long term that wont or difficult to go wrong

You will get 82 UPDC REIT shares for every 1000 UPDC shares

UACN should have there own court ordered meeting by first quarter of 2021. From my calculation you should be able to get 225 UPDC REIT shares for every 1000 UACN shares

The likes of PZ and most recently UNILEVER have also had to tour a similar route in recent past.
Guiness could have sought the route of higher repayment period, but the challenge with WC has come with a high running near term debt(unlike say UNILEVER), so management(guiness) had little option in front of them.
The coy still needs cash.

...it is well.

So do you still see Unilever diping further than it already done?

wapco result was flat in my opinon, cost rose to blut out any rise in revenue..........My biggest concern is the reports emphasis on free float....... its the first time in a long time that any company in the cem3nt industry will be laying emphasis on this

Something is brewing here, probably a sale by majority stakeholders

I want to you to clarify.

Are you looking at q3 alone or the total 9 months under review?

All the key indices were better off than 2019. Cashflow, Revenue, PAT etc. Their Health, Cost and Cash Initiative also helped reduce Administrative expenses.

Also why would they divest from their discountinious operations in order to focus only for a major stakeholder to selloff? If anything, they should have sold off a long time ago when they were plummetting. Why now when they are on the part to recovery.

Like I said, I want to understand the angle you're coming from? Thanks.

Good result. However, I am concerned by the increase in technical service fees from N259M to a whopping N1.329B.

There was a merger with one of its arm, Larfarge ready mix, which I think, might have something to do with that.
Great result, but there's need for management to improve more on certain profitability and efficiency lines.
...will score them a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10.

Yes, its a fine improvement considering where they are coming from.
It's important to note that Q2 and Q3 are usually tough for the sector. ...a time when operating margin is affected by a combination of lower vol and variable cost, yet the company has done quite well within the said period this yr.
However there is need to improve more on certain efficiency and profitability lines.

That said, the company's balance sheet remains robust and when u match the current earnings stand and cash position to the coys present mkt price of N17.90 adjusting for risk, WAPCO still offers a near 58% reward expectation.
...it's a N28.15 stock.

It will be interesting to know what is driving the higher technical fees. How will the merger with ready mix drive an increase in technical fees without corresponding increase in revenue. Usually technical fees are a percentage of revenue. The 3Q result was poor in my opinion, the quarter EPS dropped significantly compared to the earlier quarters in the year.

BTW, really appreciate the depth and quality of your analysis. Maximum respect bro!

It would be good for the company to make clarifications. Technical fees may not be associated with revenue, It could be on product development or something. The company has done creditable well grin I am waiting for others for peer review. Moreso the coy liquidty has improved significantly grin

On WAPCO..

Liquidity has increased significantly which is a plus.
The result also look good y/y.
However it is a poor result q/q and I am still studying it to see what might be responsible for that.
Cost of sales went up significantly from 32b in q2 to about 45b in q3 and PAT drops from 15b to 4.8b resulting in a drop of eps of 96k to 30k over q2 and q3.

Could this be a pointer to what will happen in ,q4 bearing in mind that the company reported a negative earnings in q4 2019?

Study Wapco company result(not the group's result) 2019 q2 &q3, then u will understand that Wapco doesn't usually make much profit in 3rd quarter.

I feel it's majorly due to the weather in most South South states which is Wapco's stronghold...it usually rains alot during this period/quarter.

Wapco best result is usually in the first and second quarter of the year.

But I don't think they will come at a loss in q4.. but we could be expecting something closer to the 3rd quarter result or even better.

Most investment houses already know this...study their PAT forecast for WAPCO 2020..I think the highest was around 35 billion.

Some of your points are very valid but I have my reservation about the reason you adduced to the reduction in profit.
Going by your point, revenue should have reduced but that was not the case. The reason for the reduction in profit was because cost of sales went up significantly in q3, may be if we scrutinize this area properly we might get a better understanding of their operations.

Hello everyone, great job y'all are doing here. Pls can someone kindly explain this stock business to me? I've been reading from page 6000 and I can only infer that it's buying and selling. Is it all to it?
How do one know when to buy?
How are the purchases done?
I know that experience will teach me which shares to buy or not buy, but kindly educate a lay man like me that is new to all this. Thanks alot

Go back at least from page 2000 or more, however,if you have gone through the pages you mentioned, you should have learnt fairly enough to begin trading.
