Thank you for your response.

Yes I am aware Lloyds bank is quite fast, hence it was recommended to me.

However, I filled all the necessary information online and was given a bank account before proceeding to the bank to submit necessary documents like you rightly pointed out. I was surprised to get a notification some days later that my request to open an account has not been successful. This same response even came from Monzo too.

Concerned enough to ask if anyone has had similar experience in the past and what was a likely solution to it.

For Barclays Bank, I’ve downloaded the app and was given an appointment of November 30th to submit my documents.

Someone will come and assist you. November 30th is quite long

Try Starling bank. It's similar to Monzo

Gurus in the house.

I recently got into the UK, I tried opening a bank account with Lloyds bank but my application was refused without any explanation whatsoever to that regard. Tried equally with Monzo, I still refused.

All of these refusals came after submitting my Passport, BRP and letter from the school indicating my address and duration of the course.

Please has anyone had this issue and how was it resolved because at the moment I am confused as to what the possible reasons for refusals could be.

I am currently trying to open with Barclays Bank, have an appointment on 30th of November.

Hello All,

Please I am trying to fill the Tuberculosis test form for the test as part of the requirement to apply for Tier 4 Visa, My son holds a dual citizenship, Please advise if I should use his US passport for the process or his Nigerian passport?

I understand I will have to use whichever of his citizenship used for the TB test to process his dependent visa.

Thanks all

The options are to either apply as a family or you apply alone and your husband and daughter come to visit for limited periods on visitor's visas. This will mean that they cannot reside with you in the UK.

Holding a US passport doesn't confer UK residence rights, so irrespective of which passport your daughter uses, the residency permission granted will be the same.

Use the passport that you will eventually use for the visa application.

Thanks but my question is still not answered, must my husband be resident and working in the UK to be a dependent?
I read on UKVI you don’t need to show prove of funds if from certain countries which US is a part, but that’s not so important.

There is absolutely no difference between a Nigerian passport and a US passport in this case. They are both in the same bucket of an immigrant

If a Us Citizen intends to stay or work in the UK either as a child or as an adult then no it cannot be a visiting visa.

No he can apply as your dependent regardless. But note that if ILR is on the table eventually the number of years he was absent won't count.

Also I read for your dependent to qualify for the post study visa, there would be some minimum residency requirements.

You have to show proof of fund for the child since the main applicant is not a US citizen.

You can do prime time but make sure you go exactly at the date and time of the appointment.

adefund:
Thank you so much but how about if someone should pick prime time appointment since that one is 37k and its serves the same purpose of walk-in because someone posted here some days ago that, if you wish to do walk-in, person needs to go very early to join the queue and prime time appointment is also within 8:00 -8:30 and 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM respectively Sorry to disturb you though just wanna know and learn more better.

Study Family , please I am planning on getting to UK before starting my wife and sons application as dependents. Hope this doesn't reduce their chances of getting visa ?

I'm not quite sure why you're having this issue as someone who just arrived from Nigeria was able to open an account with Monzo.

Try the Santander Basic current account for international students, it comes with zero monthly fees, you'll get 2 cards (one for your basic account and another for online transactions; the one for online transactions isn't contactless though) but you'll need a status letter from your school in addition to your BRP and passport.

You can also open the Santander essentials current account which comes with a contactless card which can be used for both online and offline transactions but that attracts a monthly fee of £1.

US passports UK allowance is for tourism purposes. Since your child will be coming as a T4 dependant, the dependant rules will apply so yes, you'll need to show funds for the child.
You're better off using your child's Nigerian passport while indicating that he/she has dual nationality on the visa application since the US passport doesn't confer an advantage in this case.

That means I should halt the account opening process of Barclays Bank and go for Santander Instead?
