Pride Price and Wedding Ceremony have swallowed the 1milli

I have a friend in your kinda situation
He is also a nairalander
He has postpone his wedding simply because his in-law are demanding above 300k for Traditional wedding
Now guess how much he will spend on the White Wedding

If only our Parent can cut their greed of milking their Potential son in-law
Also the wives should cut their coat accordingly
must he do white wedding? I don't know why the black man love to entangle himself in unnecessities.

Hello Nairalanders,

I’m 30yrs of age, and I never for once consider getting married, I lost interest totally, but this should incase i decide to tie the nut, how much should I have in my bank account to be on safer side before dragging myself into a life time contract with someone else daughter??

I currently own a car, and managing a salon plus other bussiness thag comes once a while, I’m working towards having a building of my own before getting married, but you see the country is so messed up right now that building a three bed room apartment for yourself is so difficult.
Families and friends are dragging me to get married without considering my financial status, they all felt I have what it takes to get myself a wife......lol tho I’m not moved or shake by their claims but I really need to know this.

Can one settle down with an available balance of a million naira and feel safe?

If you recently get married here, can you pls do a cost implication of the said wedding and cost of running your marriage since inception??
Many guys are scared, I swear

If you have something that brings in steady 150 to 200k monthly, you can consider even with your 1m balance. You don't need anything lavish. Court wedding will do. Plus your question is demographic dependent, your location matters. In lag and other major cities, it may pose a problem. But consider suburbs like ibadan, zaria, keffi, taraba, maiduguri, markurdi etc . You can easily be married and live like a king.

Human beings are distinct individuals not generic people. How many ladies have you woo or gone out with to observe their decency and manners?

How much does an ET earn at those banks ? 2.4-3M p/anum after tax? If i don't know much, at least i know Wema bank pay their ET's 221k b/tax & 300k annual leave while Polaris ET's earn 3.1M A/tax.
And they're probably going to be on the same position for 5-6years, that is if they meet their KPi.

Please what is the full meaning of ET?

Why on the look out for a fixed amount??

It depends on your in-laws,wife and type of family you want.
There is nothing like a certain amount of money when it comes to marriage.

You dey ask Jamb questions, nobody can put a cost on what he has spent so far in marriage. It's an exams with different questions.

Just make sure no one push you into it because you must be ready emotionally as well. With your age you are ripe but you must be mentally ready,

Be decisive in what you want in a woman, ensure you share the same good ideology and visions.

As per the wedding ceremony, have a budget and refuse to cross it, remember no trophy or medal for best spender and after wedding comes marriage so be careful with sycophants.

See how stupid you sound? This is the reason why society is getting more dysfunctional. Idiots like you would rather have children whichever way it pleases you because you do not know the value of family and marriage. Just look at the way you despise the motherly role in raising sound children.

Baby mama? You are disgusting. Change your orientation first because no matter how much you have you do not qualify to have a wife, nor do you meet the standard societal requirements to father a child.
Cursed generation!

Will you shut your mouth with your useless preaching... Keep your useless advise to yourself. How are you better than those having baby mamas
Marriage is an overrated piece of shit and anyone who prioritises peace of mind won't ever attempt such.
Was a marriage ceremony celebrated for Adam and Eve?
It was not the original plan of God for marriage ceremonies to be celebrated between two adults who chose to be together.
We are simply returning back to God's original plan.
Bleep your traditions and the European cultures you're attributing to christianity.

Your case maybe different from his so don't use your case to judge and to advice him to follow your path which may not work for him.

Maybe you have good friends and family members who contributed to your wedding success....some people don't have anybody, in fact some guys are the lifeline of their generation; every family member is looking up to them, so how do you expect such guy to get married with empty pocket

The time has come for we Nigerians to realize that the life of a man or woman is not tied to marriage. Although I won't advice any lady to remain single if she can find a husband because it is more honorable for a lady to be married than to remain forever single.......marriage helps replenishes women......but for guys, they need to get their financial life sorted out to a good extent before embarking on that journey called marriage.

Paying house rent, taking good care of a newborn, helping his wife's family side (it must come so long as you are a Nigerian), etc all come with a financial burden that requires adequate preparation to avoid early death rampant among Nigerian men.

If you check, life expectancy for Nigerian men is around 53yrs while in USA its 78yrs and Ethiopia is 66yrs.
