It's because they know many people will be traveling to the east during this period from different parts of the country and so they want to cash out. Check points and road blocks are usually very much during festive periods in the east
Ita like that all the time. Especially from Onitsha to Owerri

Immediately I saw the headline, I know it must have to do with check points. Sometimes you can see one check point from the other.

It not a matter of insurgency, it's a matter of collecting bribe

you are exaggerating, from Awka to Onitsha is just one check point at Ukpor junction, Onitsha to our boundary with Imo is three Checkpoints on normal day, it's because of Yuletide they increase the numbers of police and road safety officials
nwanne noo, I make use of Onitsha Owerri road weekly for my hustle, checkpoint too much

For me i like it because they have totally reduced criminals from the south eastern roads. But there is only 20% of check point in northern part of nigeria made me to say if it's criminals they are really fighting not because of collecting bribe why they couldn't make north the headquarter of terrorists and bandits to have highest check points.

come to the North you will not see any checkpoint I use Wonder why is it so

It's also so in SW.

Osun has over 15 check points (main road ooo) if you're traveling from kwara to Ondo State.

infact in kwara state
you have some check points in ilorin, getting to idofian you'll see another one, to Ajase IPO you will about 6 check points down to Offa you'll see 3 check points from offa to okuku (in Osun) 3 - 4 check points.

okuku to Osogbo you'll see checkpoints.
Osogbo to Ondo or Ibadan checkpoints plenty.
These are just federal road I haven't made mention of Okuku to ila orangun to Oke ila orangun, Osogbo to ilesha to Akure, all those Esa Oke, Erin Ijesha, Iwo etc

But I'm not sure if it's up to SE own
it is justified in the SW due to the exponential rate of crime growing in that region.
AchalugoNwa this guy still dey contract?

Well judging from the way OP described it and I've seen a topic like this somewhere.

I think it's more on your side than this place.

I thought we now have the ESN to meet Nigerian security forces to force.
Sometimes, as a region, it's our action that puts us in mess.

Go investigate. Las las you'll find out that its your SE brothers that killed him and snatched his car.
5 out of 7 crimes in Rivers is committed by a SE person, especially kidnap and car thieves.

They like to spread their criminal activity to the better south.

Why Is This So In The South East?? I Need Explanation

So today I decided to travel to Owerri from onitsha for a business meeting, the journey was meant to be a 1hr30min journey or less, but the check point for such short distance was sooo much!!

Like literally every 1km of the road has checkpoint, it's so bad that from a particular check point, you can basically see another check point ahead.

Ranging from the Army to the police to FRSC. Basically every force is on the road and all of them including the army were collecting bribe from the drivers. I actually felt bad for the drivers because it was too much. I felt really disgusted as well because I expected them to distinguish themselves but no they didn't.

I guess this is why the transport rate here is on the high side.

Now I've spent 4hrs on the road due to traffic induced by these forces from blockage of the road

Last week I came back from Abuja to Anambra and the check point were few across the north and I kept wondering.

Is there insurgency in the SE or is the crime rate high here or what exactly is the cause of this excess checkpoints / extortion points
not all animals are equal!!!!

-Biafraland is an occupied territory by Nigerians and their forces. Today, we might not have an Ojukwu or a standing Army but one day we shall fight back through other means.

-Many of those armed robbers(Army, Police and FRSC) you saw on the road gave massive bribes in Abuja to be posted to our land of milk and honey. Those lazy fuckkers can’t survive without our money, neither can Nigerians.

This is what and why it seems the region is not making headway to an extent, because investors hates been harassed by one Illiterate Fulani Police, Army or NCDC simply because he is holding AK-47.
Also, they felt like constantly intimidate them so that we can have free access to drilling the Crude and Gas without any hindrance. That region is the foundation and backbone of Nigeria. Except S/E from every available script, nobody will be interested in Nigeria project, because if you love your child, you must do everything to making that child useful. S/E is the region that check-mates Nigeria Govt.; other regions only want to share the money and go home to eat. But the extortion is GETTING OUT OF HAND & THE PEOPLE ARE RUNNING OUT OF PATIENCE!!! One day, one day,, one day!!!!!

They can only try but cannot conquer us. That's their main purpose, to conquer and extort us but they won't succeed to break us.

South East has been under siege since after the civil war in 1970.

The government is afraid of a possible rebellion or take over from the region.

...In the end, their North will suffer for it.
