I know someone who won #800,000 in bet9ja, he was doing well in his cosmetics business before that bet money

he made the biggest mistake (in his regret) by bringing out 50k to buy drinks to celebrate his winning, after 6 months , he bought a car, people started saying it was the bet money

nobody ever gave him the credit of his hustle, he became depressed and packed out of the area

rich kids suffers things like this, if they did well in school, people say they buy grades, if they did well in getting the girls, Broke guys will say is his father's wealth

you, what stopped your father from getting the wealth, nonsense

I've come to understand that it's almost normal for the hoi polloi to hate privileged people. I don't really understand the psychology behind that but I know it's unhealthy and silly. Instead of misdirecting such misguided hate on people whose fathers made money why not hate your father who couldn't make it.

Take for instance, a few years ago Paddy Adenuga had published an inspiring article where he shared his struggles in business and how he succeeded, but in a bizarre twist of narrative the haters attacked him and alluded to the fact that his father's money did this and did that.

Shortly after, Dj Cuppy was also bullied online by people who believes she has no business being a dj, let alone a popular one at that. To them it's her affluent background that's doing the trick not her talent.

The same with Davido. No matter what he does, how many awards he wins, or cool tunes he drops, he'll never be good enough for these people who believe he didn't earn his place at the table.

Instead, they revere and respect those they think are from the streets even when these people are nothing short of mediocre. A case in point is the current frosty relationship between Davido and Burna boy, how did it all start? Both of them were chummy until Burna boy made a disparaging remark about Davido's father buying fame for him. This was not only in bad taste but smacks of obvious jealousy. That you struggled to climb up the ladder due to lack does not make you better, or mean that those who have the resources to advance their dreams or careers must suffer like you before their talents can be validated.

And if the eyewitness account in the media is anything to go by, then it’s obvious that this unfortunate incident was all Burna boys doing. He showed up at the club with 6 hired goons and went straight to the VIP section where Davido was sitting to confront him. Although this is yet to be verified but judging from Burna boy’s propensity for violence it is highly probable that is what happened.

It’s time people do away with this wrong notion that privileged kids don’t deserve what they have. No matter how hard they work there’s always someone who thinks that without their money they’d probably not make it that far, but nothing could be farther from the truth. These kids work just as hard as the poor kids, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with using what you have to advance yourself. I mean you can’t hate on these kids just for being rich as if they’re the ones that stopped your father from making money. It’s wrong and it’s in bad taste.

Instead of hating divert that energy into making money so your kids won’t be just like you. Shout out to David. Keep keeping it a 100.
I think the clout chasing attitude of these rich kids are the reason for the back lash.

Many of them actually leveraged on the wealth of their parents and rather than keep a decent and humble profile, they usually show off in their actions and speech.

As they say, a boy who drives his father's car should not brag in the midst of bicycle owners.

I love Davido so much but I think he should brag less...but then he is still a small boy so I believe he will outgrow the clout chasing.

They are part of the people that contributed to the rot in the system

So Nigerians are automatically transferring that hate to their children.

How do you expect people not to hate somebody like kiddwaya that was busy bragging on bbnaija that he spent 3.1 million naira to charter a private jet that took him to Lagos for the show.

In a country where people are dying of hunger and there's extreme poverty undecided you sef think am.

And for somebody like Davido, his own hatred is even self inflicted ( I feel he talks and displays to much information on social media)

Only a Davido will buy a car and be videoing how they are offloading the car inside his compound and still tell you that he paid 120million for it.

In other for these hatred to reduce some of these Rick kids should learn how to be conservative, it not everything they should be saying on social media. this is Nigeria where hunger and poverty is endemic and a lot of people live for the day

him being flashy or showing off his wealth does not justify hate, if he looks down on the less fortunate then I may dislike him, you may not like his lifestyle that does not justify the envy and hate he gets.

Pls don’t blame them. Nigerians are highly oppressed people. A Nigerian who grew up in Nigeria can survive anywhere in the world. He has been oppressed almost from the womb it is a devastating thing. Then if they are unlucky and have to join the rat race that’s struggle and oppression (Times)X2, if as a man his gf acts funny that’s struggle and oppression X3.

The jealous, envy and hate are not conscious or intentional. It’s more of a crude adaptation to survival.

I think what the op was pointing out is that there is hatred on anyone that has an air of affluence on him/her.It is an established fact in Nigeria that behind every successful rich individuals there are blood sweats of thousands of have-nots who have been shortchanged or denied their just earnings. But the poor should note that if one day by grace of God he or she becomes rich he or she will fall into this well established category of people that are hated. This idea of hating rich people comes from the downtrodden in the society who have been denied their hard earned pay by some wicked rich people not alll.I repeat not all rich people. As times go by it became generalized whether you are a good rich person or bad rich person you will still be hated.Thats Nigeria for you.Crazy and strange unbelievable group of people.

The seven deadly sins is like a seven headed snake; One of is always raises it's head from time. It's absolutely human to envysomeone who is a better status or who's got rich parents.

I remember when I told my dad to enroll me into a football academy about 10 years ago, he didn't answer. I don't know if he's just short sighted about how diminished education is or he's just broke; I don't really blame him, he's just a civil servant.
Everyday I actually wonder what would have happened if he had agreed or if he was just rich enough to do what I wanted ( I'm thankful but being average na bastard) but it's okay; I'm far from letting go of my dreams.
Most people who hate the fortunate ones are just yet to come in terms with their reality, the creator didn't give you rich parents for reasons best known to him. I might not have loved football if my parents were really wealthy. I'm cool with it right now, now make God bless my hustle and my kids should have rich parents

Those who are full of hate are people who spend hours of their day monitoring the fortunate ones on social media, they get their dose of hatred by looking at the good things in life which those guys show off and believing they cannot get those things.

I don't really like Davido not because he's rich or he has rich parents. He focuses on wealth too much; even in his songs. Always taking about buying this, buying that for a lady...What a simp.
But
I still respect his passion for music. He used what he had to get what he wanted ( plain and simple); I'd do the same if I have the opportunity, anyone would do the same.

Like I always say very few people can brag about their wealth being absolutely clean. Otedola , adeleke, dangote all of them are and were involved in one shady thing or the other before they could amass such wealth. Some of their hands are bloody

In as much as I wholeheartedly agree with your beautiful write up let's not forget that the children of the oppressors of this country also fall within group called rich even though their parents are not known to have neither a functional business nor did they invent something that propelled them to amass wealth, but they got rich at detriment of their constituents whom they have have kept impoverished due to their insatiable greed, as far as I am concerned anyone whose parent falls within the category of a political oppressor should be hated.
In the past once you are thief and you caught, everything that has to do with you will be named and shamed including your kids, this in turn will deter other from committing such crime.
If your parent are hard working people, you deserve no hate but if your parent are known looters of the common wealth of the people, people that deprive their constituents of hospital, schools and social amenities then you should enjoy and partake from the hatred that befalls them.
I love Davido and Burna.. they should resolve their issues amicably.
true same here, those who stole our collective wealth or the children of our oppressors deserve the hate they get you can't possibly be living the life of the rich and famous with wealth meant for all when kids are dying of lack of basic healthcare amongst other challenges. unfortunately most of the so called rich kids fall into this category.

The reason for this being that there is no single rich man in Nigeria whose wealth is completely clean.

They have either cornered our commonwealth or into business alignment as front for crooked capitalists or are fronts for corrupt government people enjoying undue monopoly

As long as this is the case, their children can never have the rest of mind worthy for clean wealthy people

I am not jealous of anybody.
But nobody should downplay or/and undermine the relevance of luck.
In other words, it's impossible to show that you have a greater talent except by chance.
Everyone is born with the need of care or/and the quality of care that he or she gets during infancy to adolescence determines how likely it is for him or her to show a superior talent.
