I won't say I entirely regret going to the university although I always say if I channeled the years used in obtaining a degree into something I'm really passionate about; I'd be better off than my mates.

Most kids never get to discover what they're really passionate about and those who do are pile-driven into submission
-Poverty
-Dumbass parents who only see going to school as the only route to success, giving no regards to passion or the happiness of their kids.
-Reality can be bitch sometimes. Some people never get the course they absolutely love.

School never made me smart. I've always loved reading to books outside my field. Read books on psychology, philosophy, watch documentary.

Discover what you love and that's your path.

Today all are legends in their own path.

When u study a professional course then u know education is important.. u can establish urself with the skills uve learnt or get a job with ur certificate. There are areas of life certificate is import. U must present it to get what u want.

One shouldn't regret going to school at all. If there's anybody that should have any regret at all,it should be the parents or sponsors who wasted their hard earned living sending a cow to school. Yes,I used the word "cow" because if you feel you wasted your time going to school,then you're a cow shocked

Change your perspectives on school and higher education learning, when you do this,you'll realize that there's nothing regretful about going to school

School shouldn't be an end. It's supposed to be a means to an end
Don't mix schooling and education together. Many of these people you mentioned didn't get higher form of higher education learning, some possibly dropped out

But that doesn't mean they were not educated
There's more than one way to be an educated man

Bezos had a First Class in Engineering and was the valedictorian in his high school days.
Education is still unbeatable if you have the self discipline to take it.

Compare Apostle Peter to Apostle Paul for a start.

Asiwaju Tinubu and late Chief MKO Abiola, GCFR, still come to my mind as classic cases of where education counts. Both are accomplished first class accountants who brought their discipline into politics and business.

And yes, we've been lied to by both our parents and the society, their definition of the purpose of schooling is so wrong.
My learning comes mostly from the experience while in schools, including secondary, and very few from the classroom

There are instances lecturers will deliberately fail a student just because she didnt submit her pussy to be used by the said lecturer and the school authority does nothing about these issues. Atleast we all heard of the sex for mark scandal that rocked nigerian institutions, how many lecturers have been dismissed after that explosive exposition?

It is not the university system that drags one down, it's the students' attitudes towards the university education that drags them down.

1. They cram to pass and learn nothing, instead of mastering issues in their chosen field.
2. They make connections that help them to buy marijuana and get them invited to night parties instead of making relevant academic and business connections.
3. They believe that their certificate is the end of all knowledge and never bother to garner the skills and experience that they need to add to complete what they learnt in school.
4. When they finish, they dump creativity, innovation and invention and immediately seek the nearest high paying job even if it has nothing to do with the skills they learnt at school.

My take is; before you seek admission into the university, pause for a moment and think; what is your life goal? And do you need a degree to get there, or will a degree only waste your time and drag you back?

If you don't have functional laboratories where you can practice your course as a physicist or chemist, how can such a student strive? The answer is that the student should go to any factory and volunteer (free) service. When this student gets into the industry, all those chemical reaction and other complex topics that wasn't understood earlier begins to make sense.

Every student should think out of the box also. Think of problems and become the solution. I've seen that farm products are expensive and become unnecessarily inflated by middlemen, I am currently working on an application that would enable final customers buy directly from this farmers from the comfort of their homes. A logistic company would be partnered with to achieve this, customers would pay a token of 5,000 yearly to access this site.

Can you see how a graduate should think and put his knowledge to good use?

School is great, applying wisdom is greater.

Unless you have something productive doing in your youth you are better off going to school. Those people you mention did not sit home saying school is a waste of time . Some of them went to the best schools and drop out because what they are doing is more important than what they are learning in school.
Elon Musk is probably the most creative human on earth today has a degree in economics and physics. Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin are PHD students when they founded Google. It is not true that Bezos did not graduate college. Bezos graduated from Princeton.

Musk said you don't need college degree to work at Tesla but you cannot work there unless you have a pedigree that qualify you more than a college graduate

If you are not from a well connected or rich family in Nigeria,no need of disturbing yourself getting a degree,once you finish secondary,go learn,skill,trading or business and when you are well established go back to school and get your degree or you travel out of this country.
So many destinies have been wasted all in the name of struggling to get degree from all these overrated universities in Nigeria.
