That is what I'm saying. If you try and stop him smoking his cannabis now, it's almost like a death sentence for him. The man is past 67 years, so what else do you want from him? Just leave him to enjoy his life.

Bro i can assure you that even Obama smokes weed sometimes. We worry about thr wrong tins. Take life easy and do wat makes u happy. When i was still schooling in d uk, my lecturers had tatoo. Didnt stop me from learning from them. I think we have been brainwashed by religion. Smoking is not as bad as u think as long as its in moderation. Infact weed smoking is better than cigarettes n alcohol medically speaking.In many countries around d world marijuana is legal.

Please I noticed a disturbing scenario playing in my house as I came back for xmas... My 67yr old dad use to smoke weed (Igbo) in our sitting room.

When we were younger, he use to smoke outside and occasionally smokes around the house especially late in the night or in the wee hours.

As a matter of fact I'm 30yrs and I have another younger brother who's 27yrs then my sister who's the youngest. But Non of us smoke weed or have toed in his line... My mother has tried in that aspect not to raise us like that!!!

I brought this issue here because I need help on how to make my aging dad DESIST from that lifestyle... It breaks my heart seeing him popping smoke like that and it's degrading when we have visitors in the house... And secondly I'm wary of his health!!!

Pls help a Brother!!!

Leave your dad alone and let him enjoy himself. He is 67yrs old. You don't tell him what to do

OP I understand your pain. At times our parents do annoying things and it's difficult to correct them because it could be misinterpreted as being disrespectful.




I don't think it will be easy for him to quit cos he has been smoking it for a long time. What you will do is to plead with him to stop smoking in the presence of visitors.

If you love him as your father, please all you need to do is to talk to him as son to father on timing, place and quantity of consumption of the weed but don't try to stop him at this point, provided he doesn't misbehave when he smokes.

I said its not easy, yes.
the stats favor those one that will fail.
I know managers in reputable companies that smokes weed too.

During my university days, nearly everything I cook or eat contain weed. I could read from 4:00 p.m to 8:00 a. m and enter examination hall and drop word for word answers to questions. I wrote many imaginery contents. You will never know I smoke weed because I do it codedly. Oh, those good old days! But, now I willinly gave up smoking habits for reasons known to me. Not for any healthy or legal reason.
My advise to OP, you're now a man, a full grown adult. Be nice to your dad so as to gain his trust. Show more kindness especially when he is smoking the weed or after smoking the weed. I prefer after smoking the weed because he will be in his good mood then. Your kindness is not limited to this period alone. But do it more during these periods. During these time discuss things with him. Buys him suppliment, fruits, wine, clothings, foot wears etc. As much as you can afford. You're to buy for mum too so as not to create jelousy. But your target is your dad. Study him and try to understand some facts about him. Then ask him one day the "bomb questionn." If he can give up this smoking habit? I'm sure he might tell you, "Son, I can't, or bla bla." If he accepts to give it up, thank God your wish prevailed if not still continue to be nice to him. That is the price tag you'll have to pay to get your wish granted. Remember, you have sown a seed in his heart with that question. The seed will continue to grown because he is a human being and a reasonable being for that matter. One day, you'll be surprised at onec he'll stop it or gradually reduced it and finally stop it.
Note, smoking is not bad. it is abuse, addictions, and the consequent result of violent behaviours that makes it bad. Even eating banana to stupor can be term an abuse and bad.
Finally, from your narration, your dad seem to be one lucky dude who weed is good for. Good luck on your journey to rehab you dad.

has he misbehaved as a result of the weed? Does he perform his responsibility as a father and husband? If yes, you should let him be, I know it's embarrassing fro you but he has chosen this path and it's left from you to either emulate or resist from such. Glad your mother raised y'all away from it.

Look man, forget that thing! Leave the old man to enjoy his life.

My father was the same (RIP). He started smoking at age 13 but died at 73. It's what makes him happy, be happy for him. Anyone who doesn't like the way your father lives his life should go to hell. It doesn't change the fact that he's your dad and doesn't misbehave on the street after smoking!

Your dad must be a retired police officer,a soldier,a road transfer worker or a mottor Park chairman,a retired political tug or a luxurious bus driver.

If he is one of the above,then you have nothing to worry about.
