A little back story.
I am a 36 YO guy with no university certificate, was too wayward to finish school in FUTO then, left school in my 2nd year for a 4 year course.

Tried my hands on business years later and currently have 7M naira saved.
Now, I want to go for degree and eventually start a family .
I am considering seeking admission in a UK or Canadian school. Luckily, I have sponsors .

For a guy of my age , looking to study IT related course or physiotherapy and eventually seeking residency, would you recommend UK or Canada?
Please I need supported answers.

Thank you all.

It’s not necessarily going to be IT related. Like I said, it may be physiotherapy or something else. Looking fir a course more practical than theory. I no fit read too much book, that’s why I dropped off school back then. I have a wide range of options and also I sponsors.
I just happened to have 7M naira on my own but I also have the support of my family.

Google and search for skills to have in next 10 years.. maybe some business couses or even seminars..some foreign seminars are better than university degrees.. the ultimate end goal should be a biz that cam pump out that 7m over and over again everyday or every month

Forget UK and pursue Canada, you can easily secure a job and process permanent residency in Canada after graduation than any other country in the world... and eventually become a citizen.

Besides Canada passport holders have Visa free access to the UK, US and the entire European union...

Believe me, tuition fee may be highly exorbitant at those destinations especially Canada, you could pay as high as $15,000 per session which I'm sure you can't afford. The best option you have is to write one of those IELTS exams for undergraduate depending on the country of your choice, through that, depending on your performance, you could get a partially/fully sponsored scholarship which will take off the financial burden you or your family would bear.

If I should advice you, use part of the #7M to process the admission (getting a tutor, writing exams, getting visa and buying ticket.) If possible, look for any investment you could weave together before you leave Nigeria, this is internet age, your location plays little role in what you do at any part of the world. You could be out there and still be running things back here.

I never think it is worth spending your hard-earned money on a degree abroad, you might be stuck in the middle of everything which will be tremendously disastrous for you.

I wouldn't advise you to go for an undergraduate with that money because it's nowhere near the amount needed for it. Considering the fact you wanna study either Physio or IT. Both courses are expensive especially Physiotherapy which is medically inclined.

However, I still wouldn't deny the fact that those courses are 'hot cake' in the labour market most especially in those countries highlighted by you. If you had gotten a BSc. degree before it would have made your transition to any country easier especially the UK that has 2-year post study visa.

I would advise you to probably go to a school in Nigeria probably a private University in order not to be affected by the forseen unforseen circumstances such as ASUU strike e.t.c. That's if you're in a hurry. Mind you, there's no age limit to knowledge.. Also you can go to a School of nurse in Nigeria which is like 3 years and afterwards you get your RN (Registered Nurse). Your transition to the UK should definitely be easier with this Nurse route.

Stay safe and eat well!.

Dude both UK and Canadian tuition fee is extremely expensive. UK is far worse, and getting your Visa approved won't be easy neither. And the tuition fee is so high.

I know a girl who was studying in Ukraine, she decided she wanted to study in Canada and wasn't interested in Ukraine anymore. She got denied at her first trial but got approved at her second.

Start with smaller countries first if you can't handle getting denied at first.

Hmmmm...my brother, at the end of the day, it is all about making money and giving yourself the kind of life no one can ever give you. If na business you dey do and it is bringing you solid money, continue your business and enroll in a private university here.

E go shock you say your sponsors will leave you halfway when they see the bills...plus, I wont advise you to spend your hard earned money trying to get a degree you'd still be using to job hunt at 36.

Or better still, give me the money make I help you invest am grin

The only time 7Million will look sumptuous when discussing FX is when you are converting it to naira... because naira is shit right now.
It will start the process but wont end it. You must secure additional scholarship and/or reliable sponsorship before you start.
Those people cheering you on and promising heaven might not be there when you finally need them... be wise!

Alternatively, just parte after parte and enjoy your life cool grin grin
