NCC has put a hold on sim activation for all Telcos. This means you probably wont be able to get your new sim to work. The guys upstairs (NCC) havent got a clue of the implication of their policy. Our prayer now is that the sim card and phone belonging to someone close to the NCC's bosses get stolen or lost so that they can lift the ban.

The truth is that Simswap is not easy to come by now owing to the fact that a directive was given by NCC

Good morning fellow nairalanders. My phone got stolen two weeks ago and I have on it my MTN sim together with 9MOBIle.

Retrieving the lines has been an herculean task as i have been going to their centre for several days without any headway.

Please guys what is happening ? My sim is very vital to me especially to run accounts as I only do ussd on two of my accounts.

What's your experience like..................................... Honestly Nigeria is fast becoming something else!!!!!

I'm furious and angered ................ Just to retrieve sim is now like climbing Mount Everest

I'd be glad if this makes front page so relevant authorities can act on our plights

I will advise you to tweet your issue directly on MTN offical handle and show your anger with your inconvience... and watch how they answer you ASAP! They usually don't like their International Public image dent on twitter.

I went to a glo office somewhere in Abuja, I told them I lost my phone and needed a sim retrieval. He told me about NCC directives and all that. I waited until nobody was in sight, I squeezed into his hand $100 2 notes. when he saw it he was befuddled. What? He exclaimed, bring your sim pack. You have your most called 5 numbers and national ID card?
I handed Everything to him and disappeared like a king. Moral of the story. With money, everything works.

Wanted to cut my sim to fit into my new fone but the guy said it's an old sim that if he cuts it, there is 50-50 chance of me using it..
He advised that I do a sim swap.

With this now as you stated, I am going to Airtel office at Spar and I am going to try this stunt you pulled.

Thank you

I waiter over two hours and only 2 persons was attended to after serious standing. I still was not attended to and d line is my main line.

na the same predicament I dey so o.
lost my phone last year with my MTN and glo sim
I went to glo sim that last year only for them to tell me no sim replacement as per NCC guideline.i waited till around January when NCC decided to lift ban on sim replacement.i Waka go do affidavit and headed to MTN office which was successful.i then went to glo center but the idiots there told me I can not do as they have not gotten directive from NCC.i just dey vex,dey call radio stations dey halla say make Dem help me beg glo, make dem do sim replacement, but na lie,Dem no gree.i sent a DM to their official Twitter account last month, and fortunately was told that sim replacement has commenced.i went to their glo office branch, only for them to tell me to wait another two weeks for them to link my NIN to my sim before I could proceed with sim replacement.i went back after two weeks and was told again that I did a roadside sim registration, that I did not register some details when buying the sim,so I need to be re-registered,but unfortunately, NCC has not given them go-ahead to do sim registration.i almost lost my senses.

The best thing I did and still doing is avoiding getting my sim lost cuz I’m never ready to queue for NIN. I think I’m lucky to find my phone back after it fell off my pocket in a commercial bus. Maybe I’ll be here with ugly experience.

Have you experienced where they pointed gun at you to bring out your newly bought phone of 74k with two of your Sims in it? You want to drag with them?

This one is not the phone falling off your pocket or someone stealing it from your pocket in a bus. They collect it from you with gun in a broad day light. That was my case on the 30 Dec, 2020.

I was at Glo office today at Asaba to retrieve my line, the crowd there wasn't, much just a couple of customers but there was no network. But was told I can't retrieve my line because they can't see an picture on my profile that I have to re-register the line.

So I left and headed straight to MTN office and there I met crowd outside the complex waiting to go in. As I approached the gate I overheard one girl complaining that "she has been there for hours and her number is 178" omor I just turned back and left.

No get body for stress this period

Exactly. Person can't die cuz of SIM card or phone. That's why I jejely gave the mad man the phone when he pointed a double barrel piston at me.

Now I have bought a new phone more expensive than the one they stole.

Dragging with those people can send one to the grave. Those are things we can buy later on. They are not worth losing one's life. Only the living can acquire luxury of life. Life is precious! As far we are alive, we will acquire enough of whatever we lost or got stolen by others.

I bought a sim card (infact, it's my main line till date) when I was going back to school after the long ASUU strike around Sept., 2009.

My phone got stolen in December 30, 2009, when I went home on a Christmas break.

I got another phone, late January and decided to go retrieve my sim card. On getting to MTN office, I met a lady who inquired about when my sim got missing and I answered her appropriately. Only for her to call me a liar. She claimed my phone got missing around September. And there's a 3 month rule and I was lying because it's over three months and I knew I had lost right for my sim card to be renewed...

I tried my best to have her believe me however she was only interested in what her computer told her. In conclusion, I had my line retrieved by her out of pity but she maintained I was lying...

I left there with a big scar on my heart, although I got what I wanted, but in a very demeaning way

How did you do it? I lost my phone together with my Airtel line in it. I went to their office so Oti-Igba junction Enugu and they told me that there was no swap network, and that FG directed them not to do swap till further notice. I went there from Nsukka for that but had to go back without achieving anything.
