Yes there’s a job market. It’s a big one because Software compares need UXDs or interactive Designers.

But getting a part time job to meet your 20 hours may not be easy, however it’s doable. An easy way to build your portfolio is to freelance on fiverr. My worry is how you’ll declare your work hours to hmrc which is why working as a freelancer while a student is messy.

Many thanks for the response.

Good Evening,

I was told i can apply to schools, pay part of the fees and work to pay for the balance.

How true is this? i am trying to apply for a masters...will i get a job that would be sufficient for me to pay for my fees and my upkeep?

Can you renew what? The visa or the passport?

Visa? You’re free to. It’s your money.

Passport? My dear, valid passport is hard to find these days, just renew and save yourself the headache. Still your choice anyway.
I mean my passport. That means I can travel with the old and new passport.

Hello guys,

Does this ruling against Uber mean students can now drive Uber since the drivers are to be considered employees rather than self employed?

Hello, how do you get partime jobs in Wolverhampton. My friend is looking for a job. He is a student .His NIN is not out yet. He has tried and tried..

For your friend he needs to calm down. Jobs dey dry for every where. Hopefully by next Month if dem Oga at the top don relax the restriction a bit, jobs go still show face. If your friend no mind, tell am to search for care jobs or warehouse jobs in Wolverhampton. He can check on indeed.com or reed.co.uk
Lastly, most employers prefer employees to have NIN before they offer employment.

My passport has 6 months validity and I have a valid visa on it. Can I renew it b4 leaving Nigeria? I have not travelled to the UK with d visa but will like to renew it b4 travelling. Is it possible?

I think you need to have less than 6months to be able to renew it but then again Nigeria and rules is not 5 and 6.

She actually has a brp. I don't think a child born in the UK needs a passport to get issued a brp, atleast we didn't. Just a birth cert. will do.

Please did you say you were you able to get a brp for your child with their birth certificate? I really need to get one for my new born, as they said 3 months after the birth of a child, they won’t be entitled to free health care without a brp.

The student must have a car.
Have a licence.
Have insurance.
I guess a clean license for a couple of years is required. Will the student meet up the requirements?

Uber ‘business’ is not to simply move a car.

In this era of COVID-19 when jobs have dried up?
Yea, you may be able to get a job. You can only work for 20 hours per week. If you get a job that pays £20 per hour, that is £400 per week. Take off 20% as tax and NI payments.
Feeding, rent, utilities.
Sounds great right?

Problem is; Me sef I’m looking for a job that pays £20 per hour. Abeg if you help me see, holla at your boy.

I don't think you understand the context of the question. I think that person is asking about the legalities involved. Prior to now, the government considered Uber drivers as being self employed hence a Tier 4 student could not work as an Uber driver. Now the Supreme has ruled Uber drivers be considered as employees, not self employed. Question is does this carry over into the immigration perspective as well?
Personally i doubt the government can have double standards on the same matter but who knows.

When I first read this in bold .... my first reaction was surely this can never be right about a child born in the UK, a baby brought in yes but born in UK soil. Then I checked Google and it was right

Theresa May should be very ashamed of herself or whosoever wrote the IHS rules. This is disgraceful and for me conflicts with the right of the child

For all children born in UK, Even if a parent chooses not to apply for the child’s visa, the child is not in breach of the immigration rules, is not an overstayer or illegal entrant.....THAT UK BIRTH LAWS) . Independently of whether the parent have chosen to apply for the child’s visa or not, the child can be registered as a British citizen when the child is 10 years ...... so then how can this same child not be entitled to free health care with brp.......how did the lawmaker get away with this IHS rules..smh, foolish rules.. .sorry for ranting without any solution to your questions

I understand the context of the question 100%
And I chose to answer it that way because OP asked it in the context of a tier-4 student.

You are able to work, yes.
It is for you to determine whether you think the current economic situation in the UK with the Covid recession, the associated unemployment and all and the possible earnings from only 20 hours a week employment will be conducive to the aim of paying the balance of your fees.

Yes, you can and indeed you should.
I assume you are moving to the UK. If you are, remember that the Nigerian high commission here is seriously backlogged with passport applications, and has a very Nigerian record of efficiency even in non-Covid times, so you'd best get yourself a 10-year passport in Nigeria before you leave to save yourself the added stressor.

Yeah. All that's needed is the birth certificate. You just go to gov.uk and apply for Visa . With the lockdown, getting an appointment may take a while and even a longer one to receive the card. But once you've applied and paid irrespective of when you get an appointment, the child is entitled to a free health care.

Hello my people,

Are there credit brokers to work with to build credit score. I don't understand low score after over a year here with clean slate.

Make una help me

Credit score is there to prove that you can borrow money and pay back. No matter how much funds of your own you have, if you don't take on debt no matter how little, your credit rating will not rise as there is no record/history from lenders on your ability to owe and pay back.

There are several websites and apps such as clearscore, credit karma that can help you keep an eye on your credit score they also give you free advice on how to build it and what not to do. It takes time, a year does not provide enough financial snapshort.

hi, please does this mean one should always re-apply for electoral roll when one moves houses (new council)?

Aphrodite007:

If you noticed I said “some” councils, when I commented about the electoral roll. In my previous council, I added myself to the electoral roll but wasn’t yet on the council tax. In this new council that I live in, they didn’t add me to the electoral roll yet, until it went through the council for confirmation that I live in my house. Ergo, if i hadn’t told the council that I lived here (CTax), they may have bounced my electoral roll application. The message I got after applying for the ER, was that my council would confirm to me if I’ve been added or not.

That being said, for people on spousal visas, they may need to add the two names to the CTax, not just for having joint bills, but because CTax gets requested for when applying for FLR (I’ll confirm how they asked for the doc).

Yes you should dear. You told the electoral roll that you live in Oxford. Then you moved to London. Shey you should correct the electoral roll?

If you do, you’ll be able to vote in London, and your credit file will have your current address.

Not anymore. My sister had like a year on hers and applied for a new one to allow her travel. They perforate the old one, so it doesn’t matter to them if it’s still valid for a year or more.
