Saipro:I switched off just now the input-output solar reported 27 Watt including venus, Em 3 phase energy meter and a network switch ( 5 V , 1 Amp) attached to the same battery. NO AES firmware is 2657424

NiyiOmoIyunade:I fully agree too . see the attached loads ( upto 4.3 KW) on my ipower at office( teh motherboard was replced in 2017 after failuer) . Although I admit that it is running in an AirConditioned office with AC keeping it at 23 DEG .But is is connected to 1.5 HP Daikin inverter AC , A Ricoh photocopier , 1 HP laser printer , around 20 LED Lights ( square 12 watt type) , 6No. 22 inch HP screen plus 7no. 13 inch laptops , NAS server, security cameras etc. . Never misses a beat. occasionally beeps overload when somebody tries to print and copy at the same time but gracefully changes to GRID mode on overload

Barezzi:[s]I think it is a completely different inverter ( 10 KVA 3 phase right) it is much different design ( can work on grid also and certified in Germany.UK South africa etc )It can handle 11.2 KW peak ( mainly as DC bus is 480 V) as compared to 380 V of axpert [/s][s][/s] Stacking them together basically increases the peak handling to 20 KVA allowing much higher margin . For those considering axpert clones I would suggest to import the MPPSOlar 5KW 61 V model or get the South africa version) they are built to a diffrent standarad the standard model PIP 4048MS ( Ipower gennex) are essentially 4 KW 48 V ( peak 58 V)while the new are 5048 ( 5 KW 48 V peak 64 V) |
makawhy201:Nice find. Tomzon is more reliable than the brand I suggested |
NairaBaba:https://www.aliexpress.com/item/High-quality-current-limiter-lirait-appliances-0-5A-32A-tutamen-control-switch-demand-limiter-free-shipping/32417613258.html My experience was not so great 2 failed out of 3 in 6 months ) I might have one lying around somewhere rated 10 amp ( 2.5 KW) ( probably because I was experimenting to reduce current on the generator drawn by a heavy duty charger ) |
mrmachine:It is really 5KVA 4 KW at 25 DEG C you have to derate it on heavy load ( as the ambient may not be ideal ) so safe bet will be 3 KW at 40 DEG which means on heavy loads it will suffer - I normally run my 10 KVA inverter regularly at 7 KW ( inverter AC load so nearly unity PF) But I have an exhaust fan which kicks in at 31 DEG ambient to keep things cool Even strong inverter like Victron is only 3.7 KW at 40 DEG ambient ( mind you it is actually 4 KW at 25 DEG C) while ipower is 4KW. The newer models I posted a while back are designed now for 5 KW at 25 DEG C
|
mrmachine:if you have budget you can get victron Multi ( 5 KW )900K NGN ( 10 KW peak ) they have multistage protections and handel overload extremely well and gracefully Zero Load is between 15 W to 30 watt for 5 KW https://www.victronenergy.com/upload/documents/Datasheet-MultiPlus-inverter-charger--800VA-5kVA-EN.pdf https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SXtGIx0x5w |
NiyiOmoIyunade:easiest will be to attach a T shape Busbar ( piece of Cu flat) The top ( Horizontal part will be connected to two bolts and the Vertical to cable) - can be easily made from earthing flat used in lightning protection . for piece of mind you can even sleeve the whole things leaving enough space for Flat washers to make contact
|
NiyiOmoIyunade:for topping up you can use a normal float if the tank is big or the smaller versionfor50,100 ltr tanksfor temp control, the simplest is to add some additional load in series or parallel which will reduce the heating using PTC elements ( teh resistance changes in response to temp) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/LJXH-PTC-Thermostat-Aluminum-Heating-Element-Heater-Plate-60-120-200-Degrees-AC-DC-24-48/32855627244.html Alternatively use a digital sensor with contactor/SCR ( expensive and prone to failure especially outdoor) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/DC-12V-Digital-LCD-Temperature-Controller-Heating-Cooling-Thermostat-with-Probe-for-Warehouse-Water-Heaters-Micro/32859805084.html But it will be difficult to boil say 100 LTr using 200 /300 watt element alone for the corrosion it is very easy in fact you should be doing it for every exposed terminal - especially batteries - apply petroleum jelly or you can get one of that Nano coating spray sold by car dealers

kiekie1:For those willing to venture out on their own I have DC ( 12 V 300 Watt) heating element I can give away I imported it in case my solar heating experience failed. To use it simply connect 12 V one or two panels ( or 24 V 350 Watt with elements in series) and the heater will go to work during sunny days will require an old boiler to repurpose to store the hot water
|
DUNKA:The ground-mounted basic system is same unless you get a pressurized system which I am less inclined to purchase as a 500 K unit will probably take 20 years to pay back with Disco charging 22 NGN/unit . it is much cheaper to just by ground mounted large boiler and use solar PV |
DUNKA:I am perfectly happy with my Simba solar heater . Although the whole setup is heavily customized on input-output side I don't see why it would no work as a normal install without any issues |
richmon74:Ooops . My sincere apologies. With all the heated discussions on various charge controllers, I missed the inverter part . ![]() Is it an offgrid or bidirectional inverter( grid interactive) . The inveter market is moving very fast in the mid ranage. Just while back I posted about Batteryless hybrid inverter They are launching the first zero transfer time off grid inverter ( basically a giant UPS) at a quick glance at the user guide, 5kVA version adds the following to a widely sold PIP-MS4048 ( in Nigeria Ipower/gennex easun and many others which are a copy of the original) 5000VA / 5000W inverter 4000W 500V MPPT BMS comms for LiFe04 61V max charge voltage for the Trojans ! battery EQ function built in bluetooth with android app, detachable LCD control for remote up to 20m and for the battery-phobes....... you can run grid/PV only with NO Batteries the BMS part will not be ready till next year. and the initial release will be only with OEM orders ( where battery and inverter is sold as bundle) But in General PIS - 5048GK - (Voltonics Axpert VM III) 5KW/48VDC, 80A MPPT, max 500V PV open circuit with all the above features except BMS PIP- 3048 MK - ( voltronics King) - Zero changeover time ( PV input 145 V - ONLY 3KW model ) others features same ( no BMS yet) If I look at the graphic of the display I guess they are using their knowledge of online inverters and applying to the inverter to achieve zero transfer time - essentially using DC rectifier and then inverter as two-stage process. it is not the ongrid inverter ( maybe grid interactive is a better term ?) Maybe that's why only 3KW model is available as they may not be able to handle the components and heat losses in the same chassis of 5KW Should be available by mid August on Aliexpress on their official store - https://www.aliexpress.com/store/629424 https://www.mppsolar.com/v3/pip-gk-series/

godspeed:EPSolar as it is easy to find accessories such as WIFi box /Bluetooth and more user knowledge support in Nigeria in case things don't work out When and if MTN or GLO starts NB-IoT services it will be advantages to have this one as it can directly connect to Low power GSM network to broadcast signals |
godspeed:It's a Chinese company with relatively good quality ( in EPSOLAR category) mainly focusing on offgrid /rural projects The controller looks fairly advanced with it's Modbus support and external voltage sensing |
richmon74:Victron is already in Market with 5.7KW with fanless design and 99% efficiency and Bluetooth and compatible to lithium batteries https://www.victronenergy.com/solar-charge-controllers/smartsolar-250-85-250-100 https://www.victronenergy.com/blog/2018/06/07/video-introduction-to-the-smartsolar-mppt-250-100/ https://www.victronenergy.com/live/battery_compatibility:start |
richmon74:I can't wait ![]() slowly the Nigerian market is waking up to Lithium first it was Simpliphi by solardepot then SOlarprada by PSC . Anybnody bringing BYD? Trojan is still pushing LEAD acid for Africa though ![]() https://www.energy-storage.news/blogs/trojan-battery-in-praise-of-lead-acid-for-solar-plus-storage |
dgr8truth:A Very nice build. Please put some fans to circulate air . Temp is the enemy here Personally, I love the ones from ACinfinity . ( you can get even a temp controller to avoid running them full time) https://www.acinfinity.com/quiet-cabinet-fans/ https://www.acinfinity.com/quiet-cabinet-fans/ Just look for cabinet fan on your fav website . e.g. https://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/cabinet-fan Also note that the cycle life is 300-600 cycles only ( 1 to 3 years) so if teh cell were used cells then expect to rplace some cells earlier than 2 years http://dalincom.ru/datasheet/SAMSUNG%20INR18650-25R.pdf |
Anybody having experience with PSC Solar Lithium batteries for claimed 10,000 cycles the price of less than 350 USD per kWh is not bad. https://www.pscsolaruk.com/best-inverter-deep-cycle-batteries-in-nigeria/4.5KW-51V-90Ah-Indoor-Stackable seems to be a Chinese brand also sold in Australia http://www.soltaro.cn/product/index.html |
The voltronics have done it again. A batteryless Hybrid inverter with the option of using battery When we thought all innovation was finished after launching their hybrid inverter revolutioninzing the market ( there are now countless copies flooding the market !) The new 5048MG is a variation model from the 5048MS, with the special added features of batteryless operation and high PV input voltage (450V), thereby allowing users more flexibility in the wider range of application. https://www.mppsolar.com/v3/pip-hsms-pf1-series/ Not only operation is possible without battery but you can combine 8-to 12 panels in series reducing the costs significantly in cabling ( perfect for that upgrade from ipower/gennex) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9KCl8SAh5Y power factor is now 1 ( 5KVA models now supports 5 KWE not 4 KW) and equalization programmable with battery voltages as high as 62 V possible These inverters are now turning into corollas. - You have to spend time carefully selecting the correct features to match your use case |
Dam5reey:Please don't mix the Battery AH the 200 AH will be undercharged (* if charger cuts of based on terminal voltage) or the 100 AH will be overcharged or dry out if the charger cuts off based on tail current ( absorb stage of 3 stage charger ) if you want to mix two different type of batteries you need to use battery combiner not balancer - there are many out there http://www.magnum-dimensions.com/smart-battery-combiner https://www.victronenergy.com/battery-isolators-and-combiners/cyrix-battery-combiners https://www.westmarine.com/buy/blue-sea-systems--mini-add-a-battery-system--14152565?recordNum=1 |
dgr8truth:It is not possible that inverter has 2-watt consumption that will make it almost 96-97 % efficient ( the manufacturer claims 90% ~ 93% on full load) which is inlne with almost all similar rebranded/copied Axperts Can you check no load consumption ( nothing connected to output?) and for loads above 50 % ? |
Dam5reey:Ipower 3 KVA which is exactly same specs is 127 K but with service and parts availabvle in Nigeria Gennex is only 48| V unfortunately what I could see https:///ipowerplus-ipowerplus-3kva-24v-inverter-2401648 |
JUO:I need a 100/125 amp 3 phase ( TPN) mounted in the outdoor box if available for my office - pls. email me quote anil_ghatikar (at)yahoo.com |
Saipro: Thanks This video is very interesting where the guy clearly explains why wind turbines don't work for home use ( or rather they work but not cost effective) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3buUnynN5M?t=5m47s |
earthrealm:Does not work in Nigeria most of the places. Note the wind speeds in the turbine page at average 4 m/s the monthly production is 15 KWH which is less than 0.5 units per day. ( if you are lucky) the same 500 USD ( plus pole foundation etc) will fetch you 1 to 1.5 KW P of solar which will produce on avarage 4 to 6 units per day for more details search the thread with my signature where I have posted about vertical and horizontal wind turbines installed in my house Also, see the weather report ( live from house mounted weather station) the peak Wind speed was 12 KM/H which is approx 4m/s ( 1 K.H = 3.6 m/s)- Compared to wind the solar hit peak values of 700 watt/m which is approximately 70 % of panel peak output at STC https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/dashboard?ID=IABUJA3 I would suggest to invest in weather station or wind speed meter and observe wind speeds before seriously investing in wind turbines |
mcTrinity:\ GUYS Are you sure you did not get the US model ( there is L1 and L2 with N) only in US models L1, L2 E and N for UK/EU 230 V 50 HZ models there is L, N and E for both input output or is it SW+ with separate generator input see the snapshot from manual and download link - https://41j5tc3akbrn3uezx5av0jj1bgm-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/ML20180101_Conext-SW-230V-Installation-Guide-975-0637-01-01_Rev-F_ENG.pdf even Schinder is looping the neutrals on a neutral busbar for both input and output so I would say you can safely loop them with same size conductor as L input

godspeed: Stop thinking of Wattage, voltages etc, PV panels are not generators. They are you diesel tanks Inverter is Generator while PV + Battery provides the energy to run the inverter ( Generator). A good installer then should match the correct voltages, currents etc based on the products used. Most important to think is Total energy required in the day The minimum you should target is in KWH is atleast 50 % of Battery capacity ( 2.4 Kwh for you I guess ) + amount of energy used during the sunny period in the day What you need a Quality MPPT CC preferably which can handle 100 V or Above input ( Voc) then you can connect panels in series That way you reduce the cabling loss and the CC will wake up earlier in the morning and go to sleep late maximizing the usage of the 500 watt you should get typically 1.5 2 KWH on Average yield from 500 Watt panels with correct Cc and installation - The Yield ( energy is important ) not the wattages, If you are using inverter/battery in afternoon you will have to calculate how many units you typically use in afternoon and increase the panel size to address that. in your case you have the possibility of to 250 x 2 ( 2 in series) or 250 x 4( 2 series, 2 strings parallel) or 250 x 3 ( 3 in parallel or series depending on CC) |
ebocoms:If you send the visio native file to me I can redraw but basically - battery -ve from the battery to DC breaker and then toshunt battery side same with +VE - from Battery +ve to breaker first and then to inverters, CC + VE ETC Also note DC breakers can have polarity and the side marked with +Ve symbol should be on the battery side ( side with the highest voltage of power flow possible) |

if the tank is big or the smaller versionfor50,100 ltr tanks
