Hello everyone, please how much will fence a 1.5-plot land around Dangote refinery at Ibeju-Lekki? It's not a riverine area, although it shares boundary with the lagoon. I need quotation ASAP and the shape is rectangular measuring 120*90 ft^2. Work to begin this week if a good engineer with reasonable price shows up. Thank you.

Those Nigerian Turkish Airlines workers can be very rude! I try to ignore their stupidity but tackle the Turks themselves. I remember how I lambasted a senseless Turkish girl at Istanbul. I have decided never to travel with them again anyways. Apart from Turkish Airlines' cheaper fares, I prefer Qatar Airline.

'Daily Kauppalehti reports that only a minority of Finnish students abroad plan to return to Finland. Citing a survey by the Finnish National Agency for Education, Kauppalehti writes that about a quarter of the Finns studying abroad intend to come back to their home country after graduation.

Approximately 1,400 students responded to the agency’s survey, while a total of about 8,000 students currently receive funding from Kela, the Social Insurance Institution, for studies outside Finland. The number has doubled within the past 10 years.

After graduation, the place of residence is chosen based on the individual's employment and career outlook, while the country’s general atmosphere is also considered important, Kauppalehti wrote, quoting the agency's Irma Garam. She laments that only 22 percent of Finns studying abroad regard Finland as attractive, and 8 percent deem Finland to be international.

Mostly students are concerned about the lack of career opportunities and poor employment prospects in Finland. In addition, many consider the country to be bigoted, narrow-minded and intolerant.

According to Kauppalehti, the respondents view their countrymen and women as socially inept, cold, unfriendly and stiff. One respondent called Finland xenophobic, bitter, indecisive and regressive, while another said the country was wasting its potential by closing itself from the world and not having the guts to look to the future, Kauppalehti said.'

When they get their eyes opened outside their home that some 'people' are dying to defend. Mental slavery is real. Helsinki/Stockholm syndrome. This is a statistically backed, government-conducted survey not some posts by some illiterate agents with 'reach' sponsors. undecided

Two Yoruba proverbs-
1) A dog that would get lost would not hear the whistle of the hunter.

2) It is better to learn from the experience of others than to learn from your own experience.

I have seen goals wasted and dreams shattered in a land where most enlightened, great, and determined minds depart after seeing and analyzing things. Of course, the weak minded would settle, they have no choice. A wise person won't waste words unnecessarily.

Loans are mainly for citizens and if you're working (students inclusive). There is no need to add to a lender's risk asset when you're not broke. 7-8 % is already a huge rate compared to even Nigeria. People should be wiser.

all the problems and hard time you had in Finland.... you will still face it everywhere you go.... even in our home land Nigeria.... am in Finland and it has never been easy even when i was in Nigeria, it has never been easy too but when you settle well and get used to the system than you will understand that Finland is one of the best in the world... and for people the that want to come here, is not easy oo but still never think twice if you have the opportunity to come
Well, no one is saying there are no challenges everywhere. But for me the system here is too repressive for my liking. The fact is that they intentionally configure their system in such a way that you can't succeed without depending on them, which to me is a form of mental slavery. For me the reason why people keep saying Finland is not racist is because most Africans here are not 'woke' and less sensitive. I won't limit my potential. I won't say much. At the bolded, I usually laugh whenever I read or hear such statements. I have been in here for 3 years and few days, and I have a full understanding of the system and the people but my conclusion is MENTAL SLAVERY!!!

Probably the account statement was not officially obtained (requested and paid for) and the bank denied issuing it when the embassy requested confirmation. If you're extremely sure that the submitted statement is genuine, confirm how your uncle got it. After that, re-apply with a duly obtained official statement and explain exactly what happened. Your case would have a better chance of flying if the scenario I imagined are true and other things are right.

Bro, don’t make another decision when you are angry. These problems you stated here about Finland are obviously synonymous to non-English speaking countries. And about the job, you should quite know that their citizen or any EU citizen comes first before any third country citizen.

I blame people that didn’t give you true info the way it is which made you have high expectations on Finland. Whatever country you choose henceforth, please zero your expectation in order to avoid disappointment like this. Things are not really flexible for blacks abroad in any white Man’s land in the world.

In my opinion, Finland is better compare to some other EU countries. Finland is still one of the best countries in Europe. I have been there several times, and also been to many EU countries, so I know what am saying. Just look again before you leap.

All the best.
I understand your point of looking before leaping again. If I'm not being circumspect, I would have jumped long time ago. I graduated over a year ago and have done my due diligence since then, so that I won't make the same mistake. Once beaten, twice shy, they say. Finland being one of the best countries in Europe is a matter of conjecture. I personally don't like the culture, and think many people don't as well. For that alone self, if anyone has a chance of processing other countries, I advice them to consider them ahead of Finland. The people and their culture are the most important elements in an environment.

Personally I think it’s unfair to discourage people by saying some countries are better so they shouldn’t come to Finland. There is a reason you couldn’t go to those better countries in the first place but after coming here and benefitting from the system, you can now say there are better countries based on hearsay and no fact. Everything a student faces in Finland, new student face it everywhere in the world. Only difference is the language barrier which is understandable. Some of us have our companies here, some work in companies, so many researchers but you think other places are better. All the best to you whe you leave and I hope you will also come back here when you get there and see that life is similar for blacks everywhere especially in countries where English isn’t the first language
I made enquiries from Nigerians who were already in Finland before leaving Nigeria...all they told me was that everything was fine bla bla. When I got here, they complain in their small circles how Finnish will laugh at you and don't really like you, how the lecturers are not good at imparting knowledge... I have my personal experiences which I won't share in an open forum as this. I had my research position, I knew the reaction i got when I got it against the wishes of many of them, knowing that I did not speak any Finnish. Yes, people have some challenges in other countries but it's better, but those can be more easily navigated if you speak the language of the country. If I had gotten sincere responses from people when I was still in Nigeria, I would have continued saving for additional one year and be able to conveniently sponsor my MSc in the US or UK.

I'm not talking based on hear-say, but real experience. I have many business ideas to execute but because I understand the game plan of the people, I'm not executing anything here. I know better.
TravelRe: Studying In Finland (free Tuition) by presiade(m):

I still don’t get the experience you are talking about. You came to Finland to study and you are complaining about jobs? Seriously? So you think if you go to other ‘better countries according to you’ things will be easier even as a student? Maybe you are the one who needs orientation about those better countries. As a student in a country with a different language to yours, I don’t think there is any problem with Finland. People are doing very good here. Stop discouraging others!
I think I need to school you. You were given visa that allows you to work for 20 hrs/week or so, tell me the kind of jobs people get during their studies, I mean black people who already had bachelors degrees in Nigeria? During summer break you should get something decent. I will give you an instance. There was this Finnish chap who was in his last year, he knows next to nothing. He didn't know jack about software he was supposed to have mastered over the years, academically he has poor performances, I taught him many stuff. We both applied for internship positions that required no Finnish skills, he got offers from almost all of them, nothing for yours sincerely. Although job is not the main goal of coming to Finland, if you don't get to have the right industrial exposure in a field as engineering, you're just wasting your time. No one is asking them to give jobs anyhow, but let people learn and give equal opportunities. US is more attractive because you get Co-Op which gives you industrial exposure. The game here is called mental slavery.

Hmm, be sincere to yourself. If you were on a salary of N200k+ with career prospects in Nigeria before you left Nigeria would you have wished you came to Finland after the experience you've had in Finland? I knew some guys whom I met here who were asking if they could go and get the job I left in Nigeria. Don't be deceived, the plot is thick against foreigners and blacks in particular. You should know too well that their is glass ceiling here. I'm out of FI sooner than you think before you ask me what I'm still doing around.

What are the benefits of marrying a Finland woman... Im a Nigerian living in Dakar Senegal .? Is it wise to get married to her on her first visit or i wait for another visit then we get married (so it won't look im desperate)
I hate Finnish culture and maybe dislike the people. Africans who marry them are mostly managing and I believe they complain. If I would advise you, I'll say don't even consider marrying a Finn. However it's your choice. Your question is about rude, seems you don't know how to use please just as them.

Hi guys. I'm new here.

I need some information on medical insurance. I read it's €30,000. That's roughly N12.3million. How much does it actually cost to get it from Aiico and Swiss care? I went to Swiss care website but I don't get it.
Don't worry, I can do it for you at €15,000, pay N6.15m into my GTB account Name- Mugu Maga Suomi, Number-0123456789. Anyways, the best is AIICO which costs you about N30,000. Go to their website or any closest office and buy travel insurance for Schengen countries. The €30,000 is the maximum amount you can claim from the insurer in case you fall sick when you're in Finland.
