5 Strange Reasons Brides May Cry on their Wedding Day -By Oba Samuel Wedding, to many, comes once in a lifetime and it is characterized by pomp and pageantry. And these pomp and pageantry normally go down as a historical event for the couples and their family members. To make the day special, most brides often hire the services of a make-up artist who beautify their face like a model to the extent that their real face becomes the master touch of a make-up artist, a camouflage of the real face. Good as the make-up may be, this facial mascara is often wipe out through tears by most brides on the wedding day. Why do brides cry on a joyous day of their life when no one hurts them? Below are the strange reasons brides cry on their wedding day: 1.Thought of leaving Mum& Dad: Wedding day can bring a bride into a deep emotional pain that will make her shed tears especially when it dawns on her that she is moving away from her beloved parents into a new home that may not afford her the opportunity of seeing them often. These tears can be uncontrollable especially if the bride is the lastborn of the family or the Mummy’s favourite. 2.Crowd: Sometimes, seeing a mammoth crowd in Church or at the wedding reception, staring at the newlywed couple or giving them a standing ovation can bring tears of joy to the Bride. Also, disappointment from the photographer, event decorator, reception band and any other key role player can make the bride cry profusely. 3.When the Groom is Nowhere to Be Found: One thing no bride ever pray for is for the groom to abscond on the wedding day. If this happens, the bride will not just shed tears, she will weep uncontrollably and it can lead to a mental torture. 4.Flashback: The peak of joy in the mind of the bride can bring the memory of her past heartbreaks. Remembering the number of times, she had suffered heartbreak from guys can make her burst into tears which she may not be able to tell anyone. It is like saying, “God, you have delivered me from this problem at last.’’ 5.When She is forced into the marriage: The wedding day is expected to be a day of joy and celebration but it can turn to a day of tears and weeping for a bride if she is forced into the wedding against her wish. Also, marrying someone she does not love or if she is into a face-saving wedding after her former lover who jilted her got married earlier than her. Tears aren't far away from brides on the wedding day but it is my prayer that all your tears shall be tears of joy in Jesus’ name. Our society paints a picture that getting pregnant is easy and a given, but for several women it is not a walk in the park. If you and your spouse are looking to welcome a sweet baby into the world, try applying these nine principles into your daily routine. 1. Watch your weight Women who are significantly underweight or overweight can increase the time it will take for them to conceive. If you are planning on getting pregnant within the next year, doctors suggest men and women understand the effects weight has on fertility. If the mother is underweight, she is at risk of causing hormone imbalances that effect her ovulation cycle and chances of conceiving. If the mother is overweight, she increases the risk of pregnancy complications, miscarriage, hypertension, pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, blood clotting and labor complications. Babies born to overweight mothers are also more likely to become obese children and adults. 2. Quit smoking Men and women both should abstain from lighting a cigarette when trying to get pregnant. Smoking directly affects whether a woman’s uterus will be receptive to released egg. Also, smoking damages DNA and can reduce sperm production. 3. Understand your ovulation cycle Take advantage of your fertile window, or the six days that mark the end of your ovulation cycle. Doctors suggest pregnancy will most likely occur three days before ovulation, and suggest a woman is more fertile before her next ovulation cycle instead of the days following just after. 4. Take prenatal vitamins Doctors suggest women seeking to have a baby should take prenatal vitamins prior to conception. Prenatals contain higher levels of folic acid and iron as well as many other vitamins and minerals that help promote the development of a healthy baby. 5. Moderate your exercise routine Think you are interested in having a baby? Do not plan to train for a marathon while you are trying to conceive. Going to exercise extremes can cause stress and problems on your body. Keep your exercise routine constant and predictable. 6. Avoid stress Relax! It may take time. Stress affects more than your heart rate; it can cause your body unnecessary complications while trying to conceive. Enjoy the journey and get to know your partner in new ways. It will help you as you embark on your fertility journey. 7. Abstain from alcohol High intake of alcohol should be avoided when trying to get pregnant. Keeping these guidelines in mind can help you and your spouse bring a beautiful baby into this world. As always, please consult your doctor before changing your diet and exercise routine https://dailyfamily.ng/7-ways-increase-chances-getting-pregnant/

5 Ways Nigerian Parents Kill Reading Habit in Children Most Nigerian parents desire that their children (young ones) develop a reading habit but they are ignorant of the fact that they may be responsible for the child’s inability to read Reading is very important for every person to grow and also increase knowledge. Children don’t understand the importance of reading and the responsibility rests on the parents to cultivate the habit. For a reading habit to be cultivated in a child, there are some things parents should desist from doing. These are five (5) things parents should not do: Forcing a child to read books bigger than his/her age The first thing every parent that wants to cultivate reading habit in their child must know is that there are books suitable for children at a particular age bracket. For example, a four-year-old child may not be able to understand what is inside an Encyclopedia. Books you should get for your children must be books they can easily relate to and enjoy reading. Toddlers and young children love storybooks filled with colors and pictures. Distracting a child when reading Most Nigerian parents are fond of calling a child when the child is already engrossed in reading. Distracting a child when he or she is busy reading can cut that child off totally from what has been read before and can also disturb the process of assimilation. As a parent, before asking a child to do anything for you when he or she is reading, try to wait a bit, do not shout the child’s name and if that child is a bit grown, you can write what you want to say in a paper and place it beside him/her. Restricting a child to only read class books Some parents are fond of giving their children odd instructions like ‘you must read only books given to you in your class alone so you can come first.’ This kind of instruction may seem good but the negative effect is that when there is no school activity, that child will not read at all. Children should learn from different areas so as to build a reading habit. This makes them cultivate a reading habit that is continuous whether they are in school or not. When reading becomes boring A child will never gain anything when reading is boring. Reading can be boring when the child does not understand anything from what he/she is reading. Parents should try to be aware of what their children are reading and not just giving out instructions. You can sit with your child and ask questions about what he/she has been reading and when the child seems to be blank, give a helping hand by assisting in reading and not spanking or yelling at the child. Creating fear in a child Some parents are used to making their children afraid of reading as they are always yelling or shouting at the child when they don’t see him/her reading. For a child to understand and assimilate well when reading, it must be in a conducive environment with love and care. Fear will only produce a child that will always pretend to be reading but is actually not gaining anything from the forced exercise by his/her parent. All the above-listed points can kill reading habit in your child, which makes it important for parents to be careful with the measures they use in cultivating the reading habit. https://dailyfamily.ng/5-ways-nigerian-parents-kill-reading-habit-children/

-By Oba Samuel 5 Signs that Your Daughter Will Lose Her Virginity This Valentine Many countries, all over the world, celebrate every 14th of February as Valentine’s day otherwise known as lovers’ day. The day is usually characterized by lots of parties, shows, lovers’ hangouts fun, giving gifts and initiating a new relationship. One of the most pathetic features of ‘s celebration is the huge numbers of teenagers and youths that lose their virginity on that day. The aim of this write-up is to sensitize parents on the trends that may make their treasure daughters lose her virginity. These are: 1.If she has a date night: It is a common practice for two people in a relationship to have a date on valentine’s day regardless of age or distance. In fact, a guy may travel from the eastern part of Nigeria to see a girl in Lagos all in a bid to celebrate valentine together. As a parent, you need to be observant to know the whereabout of your daughter on that day. Giving flimsy excuse about going to visit her uncle or Aunt in another location on that day should not be tolerated because she may want to use that as an escape route to see a lover. 2.If she wants to keep a promise: Many girls tend to lose their virginity on February 14th because they want to keep the promise they have made to their boyfriend that they will give-in to sex on that day. So, they go out ready for sexual act and this is happening as a result of peer pressure. Most times, a girl that wants to keep a promise to a guy will find a means of going out on that day even if there’s no need to. 3.If her mentor plans to take her out that night especially to a party: Another sign you should watch out for is the activity of the so-called mentor of your daughter especially her senior in school or a big sister in the neighborhood. Most times, it is these experienced mentors that expose the innocent girls into first time sex. Be vigilant! Never allow your precious daughter become an attachment to anyone going for a party under any guise. 4.If she plans a secret moves with her friends: As a mother, you need to be a detective at home to uncover any secret moves or outing of your children and their friends. Most especially, on a valentine’s day. They may want to deceive you that they are going for interschool debate, quiz, cultural or extra coaching but you need to be smarter than them. Or better still, ask their teacher or head of school if there is any extra class or interschool-debate. 5.If she is too excited about the day: Be very sensitive to know the state of your children. If you notice that your daughter is unusually excited for no reason, she must have received a special valentine gift from her boyfriend or she is going on a date with him. Don’t shout at her but talk to her with love explaining to her the danger in it and you will succeed in stopping her from being a victim. https://dailyfamily.ng/5-signs-daughter-will-lose-virginity-valentine-2/

I am a Banker in my early 30s and going through a messy divorce. I married my husband as a virgin. I have never been with any man until I was raped. I didn't know anything about orgasm, climax or what have you because I have never experienced it before. 8 years of marriage with a miserable sex life. I have two children from my marriage. It happened that We traveled to my husband’s village during the last Easter period. While in his country home by 1 am in the night our house was raided by a gang of 7 armed robbers. It was a terrifying experience, after collecting all the valuables at home, the leader turned to rape me. The leader tied my husband to a chair, tore my clothes and went on to show me his manhood that he will use it on me. I was frightened. I begged him and cried but he wouldn't listen. It was a rape that cost me my marriage. As the guy was entering me, I was supposed to feel pains but that wasn't so. I felt a kind of electrifying sensation that I have never felt in my whole life. I screamed oh my God, as he started pounding on me I didn't know when I was holding him hard and begging him not to stop to the amazement of others, I was enjoying being raped by a criminal. I was told that I was screaming very hard as he was making love to me. Yes, I had my first orgasm through rape and since then my life hasn't been the same. The robbers turn on me in which I scream all through. I don't know what came over me, maybe it was my village people that manipulated me, but all I can say is that, I haven't had such experience with my husband. My husband gave me the beatings of my life after they armed robbers left. He called me unprintable names like prostitute, he said he didn't know I am an ‘ashawo’ and he can't have an ‘ashawo’ as a wife . I was hospitalized for two weeks as a result of that incident and his beatings. My husband left me at the hospital and travelled back to Lagos. I was damaged. How could he do such a thing to me? What was responsible for me to enjoy being raped? How could I even enjoy such act of cruelty on my body? These were questions I kept asking myself. When I got discharged from the hospital, I met a divorce papers waiting for me to sign. I tried begging my husband, involved my parents but he swore instead of staying with me he will rather die. That I am a disgrace to his life. My husband is a rich guy, so when our divorce news broke out, while I was denying it, he kept telling everyone one that I am a LovePeddler. It took me months to accept my predicament and move on. I am still in the process of healing, still seeing my therapist. But one thing I know is that I am not what my husband says I am. I am just a woman who was sexually starved. I did not pray to be raped, but it was the turning point of my life. I just feel like sharing this with you my family because it will help me . Please, don't judge me, because you don't know my pains. By January I will be through with the divorce. I just want you all to wish me well with my new life. I pray to find Love in the nearest Future. 1. What could she have done differently? 2. Was it a crime for her to enjoy rape sex like that? 3. Was the husband being fair to her? 4. Was divorce the only way out? https://dailyfamily.ng/raped-by-robbers-and-got-kicked-out-of-my-marriage/

Could this be true love or love of money? A 23-year-old's wedding with a wealthy 38-year-old mother of one is trending heavily on the internet. The mother of the groom is one year older than his son's bride. According to odditycentral.com,the wedding, which was filmed on Jan. 10, took place in Qionghai, Hainan, China, where it first went viral and stirred up controversy. The woman apparently fell pregnant after a romance with the younger man, after which he proposed marriage. Initially, the groom’s parents opposed the wedding, citing the 15 year age difference between them, as well as the bride’s 14-year-old child from a previous marriage. However, the bride – a wealthy real estate businesswoman – offered them a dowry of 660,000 yuan (USD 104,273) in cash, a real estate lot, and a Ferrari sports car, altogether worth an estimated a 5,000,000 yuan (USD 789,950). The parents gave their blessing immediately following the generous offer. They married in an extravagant ceremony, arriving in a red Ferrari with the bride bedecked in gold and other expensive jewelry. Chinese netizens have had mixed reactions to the union, with many congratulating the pair, but some claiming the young man only married the woman for her money rather than love. “I once again believe in the power of money,” wrote one Weibo user. “Father: Our boy’s bride is loaded, let’s accept the deal to cash in!” wrote another. Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the argument, some pointed out that the story going viral only highlights how far China has to go to achieve gender equality. “A 38-year-old divorced man marrying a 23-year-old single woman would not even be news. This is only making a fuss about women becoming stronger,” commented a Weibo user. In the video footage from the couple’s wedding, they both appear elated and very much in love. The bride is heavily pregnant but looks radiant in her white gown, and her husband is all smiles. In one particularly sweet moment, the groom dedicated a song to his bride, serenading her as she blushed and giggled. The Weibo user pointing out gender equality has a good point, considering that if the roles were reversed in the story, a wealthy divorced older man marrying a younger woman, it wouldn’t have made the news as it happens commonly and frequently. It is worth noting that the man proposed to the woman, not the reverse, and it was only after the parents disapproved that the dowry came into the picture. That netizens are reacting negatively to an economically powerful woman in such a negative way just goes to show how threatening a woman with power is to a traditionally patriarchal society. https://dailyfamily.ng/family-allowed-their-23-year-old-son-to-marry-38-old-divorcee-after-she-paid-800000-for-dowry/

My wife killed my only son. What should I do? Obedience they say is better than sacrifice; many would not have been destroyed only if they had heeded the warning of people around them. Here is the true life story of Mr Johnson who lost his only son and only child as a result of his wife’s disobedience. My Name is Johnson Tife, I am now well over 62 years of age but with no child to inherit my wealth. I have been married twice before meeting Nancy; a University undergraduate….before then, my last wife left the house after years of marriage without any child. She left one afternoon after she claimed she was beaten by some people she could not see. That brought an end to my marriage with Ranti. Back to my encounter with Nancy, a beautiful dark lady any man will desire. I started seeing Nancy about a year after Ranti left me and on a bright day, Nancy called me and she told me the best news of my life, she was pregnant! I couldn’t contain the joy I felt at that moment and I really desired that joy will last forever. I left where Nancy was schooling in Akwa Ibom and came back to Lagos and during a Sunday service at my church in Lagos, my pastor called me out and said “Bro Johnson, a woman is pregnant with your child”. I was stunned, surprised, I was wondering, how did my Pastor get to know this? He later explained that the Holy Spirit revealed it to him. My pastor was not out to condemn me but he told me he had a warning for the lady in question. So, I called Nancy and she spoke with my Pastor and I heard as my Pastor gave the warning “Sister, please don’t come to Bro Johnson’s house yet but wait until you have delivered that baby before you do so.” My Pastor further explained to me that it is very important for us to adhere strictly to God’s instruction. Nancy got curious and she kept asking when she would visit my place to at least know where her supposed husband and to-be-father of her baby stays. After much pressure, I brought Nancy to my bungalow apartment in Lagos and she stayed over for the weekend. Little did I know that this move will bring the biggest loss of my life. By the way, I own a company where I make products that are making waves in the Nigerian market. Nancy returned back to school but was staying at home with her parents as their house was not too far from the school. After her visit, she kept calling to make sure I was staying in the house alone and I kept on assuring her of my commitment to the relationship. On a fateful day, Nancy called me and told me she needed to see me urgently and if I didn’t show up, she will terminate the pregnancy. I hurriedly embarked on the journey in my car to find out what could be wrong. As I arrived her place, Nancy was all over me, crying and telling me how she had been lonely going through the period of pregnancy without me being there. I reminded her of my commitment and also what my pastor warned us about but I did not know that she had her moves planned out well. When it was time for me to leave, Nancy held on to me and her siblings brought out her pieces of luggage which were hastily placed in my car. Oh! I was disappointed, chattered, a lot of things were going through my mind but there was no way I could avoid taking her along with me when her scripts were well played out by every member of her family. We arrived Lagos and everything seems going on well until the pregnancy became six months` and five days. Nancy suddenly started complaining of pains in her tummy, this made me totally helpless as I had no idea what was wrong with her. At the hospital, the doctor told me she was in labour and will have to deliver the baby prematurely. The baby arrived prematurely that morning and I was filled with mixed feelings of the joy of holding my baby in my arms for the first time and also the feeling of uncertainty if the boy will survive. On the day we brought Oluwadamilohun home after some weeks he spent in the incubator I was glad and excited. My son was now in my house, I could not express the joy. Church members, Neighbors, family members visiting to see the newborn were also too excited as this was a thing that had never been experienced in my house before. My joy over Damilohun was cut short when we discovered that at 6 months, he couldn’t sit nor crawl but we kept hoping there would be changes until we were told by Physiotherapist that he will remain like that because his bones did not form properly before he was given birth to prematurely. My hope of having an heir was totally dashed as it dawned on me, that my son will never be able to sit nor crawl not to even imagine walking. I remembered my Pastor’s warning but it was too late. I cried what can be done now? My Pastor kept on encouraging me to trust God for my child’s healing. He will come around and pray for him but nothing was happening. On that fateful day, just some days after Oluwadamilohun became two years old, he became tired of trying to survive with an unstable neck and lying down all day. That midnight, he gave up the ghost. I remembered that after he was given birth to, we were advised to start trying to get pregnant again but my wife will only pay attention to taking care of the baby neglecting all my sexual advancements. Also read this: Civil servant crushed to death in Kogi state Now, all is lost, my son is dead, I have no heir, I am gathering all for no one. I look at this woman and feel disdain despite her tears of losing her son; I feel she killed him all because of her disobedience. Only if she had listened, my son will have been given birth to at her place before coming home and he will still be alive and well now. To make the matter worse, a few days ago I overheard her discussing with one of her friends on phone that she is tired of living with a hopeless old man (referring to me). Now, she wants to leave me after destroying my only hope. Right now I feel like killing her then killing myself also or where should I start from at age 62 while she is just 33 years. I don’t know what to do to this woman who created a wound that will never heal in me. Please, I need your advice….
