For the purpose of those who r yet to go there have been some slight changes

1) we are told now that it's a must you pay for your green card before traveling

2) medicals would be opened by you before entering the embassy
They said it's a new security protocol

3) we were not asked for affidavit of birth from NPC from any of us I don't know why, they collected one long birth certificate thankfully we had that one with us so it won't hurt if you take both along

You pay for your greencard before travelling and yes, at the embassy they will ask you to open all your envelopes before going in

I wasn't given d visa I made some mistakes while filling a previous form so I was asked for some extra documentation which I've sent hopefully that works out fine, but my brother and sister were given thiers... thankfully

Hopefully they would return to me soonest

In the long run, it worth the wait. There are so many millions of undocumented immigrants in this country. I mean millions. A lot of Nigerians too. A few chatting with me on Facebook, telling me that I should thank God for my mom every day and keep praying for her. That they wish they had who filed for them to get their papers.

For those who paid their Green card fee in Nigeria before leaving and now living in the States, How long did it take to receive your Social Security and Green Card and how did you get busy before then?
And also for those who paid after arriving in the States?

Hi, good to have u here. Came in on a Sunday, went to SS office the next day being Monday, a week later the SS card came. By 2 and half weeks of arriving the GC came.

On your question all you need to do is to contact NVC via email to update your Case. Remember to type in your case number, beneficiary name, date of birth, petitoners name, date of birth before proceeding with ur request to add your family to your case.

Hey guys. So we received our greencards today. I thank God, cos it was so fast. We had paid the greencard fee 21st of August, some days after my interview, and we arrived 16th of Sept. But 1st son's own didn't come. Guess it was the dispatch. Will wait for it though. Hopefully my social security will come now, cos I had called i'mmigration last week to correct my middle name which the SS officer said they had written 2wice and that left my social security card pending till the correction is made. If I wait till Friday I no see am, will be at their office on Monday morning.

@ Oladeep how far? Hope u have received your greencard? If you haven't, pls try to put a call through to them. You will get their toll free no on their website, might be an error causing the delay. It could take about 20 to 25mins, before a representative can answer your call, but it's worth the wait

But today they asked for police cert which I took to the embassy.After I dropped the document I was asked if I have passport for all of us with me and I said yes. And I was asked to submit it..But was not told the reason why...I just hope its for good.

I've gone through this entire thread, and boy; it wasn't easy.
Anyway, I just wanted to ask, must one submit the police clearance certificate during NVC, processing.
I know its a must for interview, just wanted to know if its a must during NVC.

Well if u do, it saves you the stress of not bringing it during your interview. But if your police certificate has passed 1yr after your interview date, then u need to get another. Cos police certificate is valid for 1yr. But it's best y submit a PC to them at the NVC stage.

I wanted to ask how much you spent in total for all the processing and flight, I mean for medicals, visa fee, green card payment, flight etc.
Secondly how were you able to print out your whatsapp calls you presented during the interview.

Medicals I used Qlife family clinic. I think I posted their charges and time to go on the thread but I can't remember the particular page. Just flip through the thread u will get the information. Visa fee is $325. It could be subject to change, green card $220. Flight I spent 1.750m for the 4 of us. Delta was almost 2.5m

K1 Fiance is only meant for U.S citizens I think. Not permanent residence. So we have no choice than to Fly back. Thanks dear. Baby daddy calls every day. We miss him, but the video call helps.

Hello my people. How are you all doing? We are in the States now. Spent 1 month in Naija before leaving. Plenty shopping and preparation things. Left naija 15th Got in on the 16th. Took B.A, from London Heathrow to Chicago. The layovers was extremely short. About 2hrs each. By the time we got out of the plane Tru checks, and catching buses and train, we are boarding again. It was a blessing not to wait at all, up until when I got to Chicago. We got into Chicago at 10a.m, passed through CBP, got to the officer said hello. I was so tired travelling with 3boys. Lord have mercy!. Just passed him our immigrant packet. The blue form I was given to declare food, he helped me fill out. I was expecting him to ask me questions, but not a single question. He just took the form and passports and just asked me to follow him for processing. I did. We sat in another area. Waited for another 15mins then another officer came out with our passports and said all done you are good to go. I said thank u sir, And he says you are quite welcome. Went to pick my baggage. 7 huge boxes. My 6yr old was so helpful I was shocked. After loading the 2 carts my son was pushing 1, I was pushing the 2nd. Passed through gate 4 where they checked my dry food through scanners. Thought they were going to open the boxes, but nothing like that. I stated rushing to catch a train to my next terminal. By this time it was 11.30. I didn't know we would go through another check in when we got to terminal 3. By the time I got to my flight it was 11.58. gate had closed. I was just looking at the plane. That was where the nightmare started. Went for them to rebook me on another flight to Columbus. All flights were fully booked until 7.45pm. . How was I suppose to spend another 7hrs with my kids at the airport. Lord! my 3yr old, you don't even want to know. "I tell am say him get luck we no dey naija. Cos for that Airport, I for give am him size." I had to start walking over to gate L to wait, no be small walk ooo. Jesus! Their airports are big abeg. By the time I got there, I realized my baby's boarding pass wasn't with me. We started working back to the lady. I think going back was a blessing for me, cos the lady checked again and found out the boarding pass wasn't even confirmed. She and her colleagues started working on getting me something earlier. They put me on standby for 4.20pm. my 3yr old started his drama. Good Lord. God just sent a white mother and grandmother. "Beautiful soul" she stepped in to help me. Carried my baby while I carried my 3yr old who was screaming his head off, that I should carry him. She bought snacks and water for the kids. Came to meet me and said her flight was delayed but she had to go now. I guess this was what God wanted her to do. Gave me a hug and left. By the time I got out to even get her name, she was gone. There are definitely some Good fearing genuinely nice white ppl in this country. I met 3. One gave me his phone to call my mom that I had missed my flight. I no see free WiFi ooo. One was willing to give up her seat for me to travel with the boys on the 4.20pm flight. We all eventually got in. As we were coming out when we got to Columbus, see my people already waiting. That was the big relieve part.


Went to social security office yesterday. My kids own they said will be ready in 2weeks. Mine they said 4weekz cos the immigration officers misspelt my name. They wrote my middle name 2wice before my surname. So they have to rectify it.
