The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel has declared that not more than 23 lives were lost in last Saturday’s Reigner’s Church building collapse in Uyo. He spoke during a solemn assembly at the Government House Banquet Hall in honour of victims of the collapse building. The Governor has also debunked the claim in some quarters that one of his aides who pushed him out of the collapsing building, lost his life in the process, saying the only staff directly in his service who lost his life was a driver who sat elsewhere in another location within the church because he was also a member of the church. The Governor said the earlier figures from some section of the media came as a result of multiple counting as a result of the different private health centres that victims were rushed to, before being transferred to the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, and the Specialist hospital in Uyo. He thanked God who honoured the covenant he made concerning his executive council members, maintaining that none of them died in the disaster. He said he was able to charter aircrafts to bring in neuro-surgeons from around the country, adding that his efforts resulted in 99 percent success rate for all the injured victims. Acknowledging the presence of the deputy senate president Ike Ekweremadu, Governor Emmanuel appealed for assistance from the federal government to help in the medical expenses of the victims. Governor Emmanuel again reassured Akwa Ibom people not to be despaired by the occurrence as God is still with the state, noting that accidents could occur anywhere to anybody. He said that what mattered most is that the survivors have been given a second chance by God to straighten their ways so that they would be prepared for judgement after their life on earth. “The second chance is for everyone and not just the survivors, and we should be more concerned by the account we would render before God, because He will certainly not be interested in our titles and positions.” Goodwill messages where received from the Senate President represented by the Deputy Senate President Senator Ike Ekweremadu and the Governor of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike. They both extended their condolences to the government and people of the state and assured of their readiness to support the state government’s efforts in ameliorating the crises. Prayers where offered for the Divine Intervention of God against further calamity, God’s comfort to the bereaved family and the state. Recently photos of a little boy who was rescued alive from the middle of a wall in a community in Ondo state -went viral.. According to a new report from a public relations officer and online media personality, Rose P. Graham, here's the true story of what happened. Here’s the true story of the Boy that was buried alive in an old wall in Ondo state The owner of a brick house where a young boy was rescued alive in Ondo state recently has been declared wanted by the officials of Ondo State Police Command. The innocent boy who is said to be 12 years old was declared missing by his parents several years back. He was rescued at a house located on Oduduwa street in Ijapo area of Akure few days ago. When his parents were contacted, they claimed some spiritualists told them he has been used as sacrifice and that they should stop looking for him but as fate will have it, those who heard the sound of the boy as he was singing broke the wall and rescued him alive. People are still wondering as to how the boy made it to the foundation of the building that is over 20 years old and how he managed to survive. An Eyewitnesse at the scene who identified himself as a priest said the boy was called into the place from a spiritual altar and that he has been there for more than 5 years and that they fed him with human flesh and blood from the spiritual realm. He urged the parents of the boy to take him to a powerful native doctor for redemption ritual because he is now a demon in human form. Nigerians are still mourning the tragic deaths of victims of the Reigners Bible Church building collapse which left scores dead and many injured over the weekend in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state. Also among the dead is hardworking cameraman with AKBC TV, Ubong Thompson, who was covering the event at Reigners Bible Church. May his soul rest in peace... Read what was shared by his mourning friend on Facebook Calm, resourceful, hardworking, never a word of complain, never a word of gossip, extremely focused on his job. He died while on duty at the Reigners Bible Church. It is like a personal loss to me. This was a Cameraman I worked with stress free. This was a cameraman I could trust his shots. This was a cameraman whose shot of the most mundane came alive with meaning or beauty on the screen. You never had to talk much to Ubong. He understood what you wanted on camera with an instinctive calm confidence. Ubong delighted in making people look their best. He delighted in giving meaning and dignity to events, people and places. A Reporters asset. An asset to the Corporate image. An asset to the state. A loss. A deep, deep loss. It's an agony to imagine Ubong seeing death descending and not able to run out of deaths path. Ubong would rather be more concerned about protecting the Camera from damage than run first for safety. Ubong would rather wait for others to leave first than scramble to the exit. Decent young man. Clean, neat, polite, respectful and dignified. Could Ubong's good nature have worked against him on that tragic day? Ubong, why didn't you run? Why didn't you dive? Why didn't you.... But your voice is forever silenced. We can never know the thoughts that flew through your mind, or your actions on that tragic day. We only know that someone called your line to be assured of your safety, but a stranger answered your call, saying he just picked the ringing phone from your lifeless body. We hoped against hope that it was not true. That perhaps your phone found its way into a strangers pocket. We waited to hear the cheering news that you escaped. We hoped to see you again soon with your calm ever ready to work smile, but the news that came was never cheering. Ubong has gone and crossed over to the other side of eternity. I will miss you Ubong. I will miss the ultra good, near perfect cameraman that you were. Sleep peacefully in God's loving arms. May God comfort and console your young wife. Your parents, extended family, your friends and the AKBC family. Good night my brother, my friend and my very respected colleague.
