A video clip of abuse involving a young girl has been making the rounds on various social media platforms, including Facebook and Whats App. The video which is too gruesome to post here -has sparked debate on whether it is right for citizens to take justice in their own hands and sort out criminals in this humiliating manner. In the video, the young girl reportedly aged between 15 and 20 was caught stealing from a home. The aggrieved owners of the home rolled her in mud and poured engine oil all over her body before setting her free in bid to humiliate her. However the action has sparked mixed feelings with some condemning the act and calling it inhumane. Meanwhile others have welcomed the action stating that thieves are criminals and should be treated as such. Source; http://www.nationalhelm.net/2017/01/is-this-right-see-what-was-done-to.html

According to legal Practitioner and Human Rights activist, Inibehe Effiong, these men were allegedly tortured and maltreated by the police for demand the payment of their late parents' entitlements from Governor Udom Emmanuel and the Akwa Ibom State Government. Read what was shared by the lawyer on his Facebook page. The three arrested, detained and arraigned next-of-kin of late primary school teachers in Akwa Ibom State 1991-date after their released yesterday following the perfection of their bail conditions. They are Benjamin Benson, Eno Kenneth and Utibe Sunday. One of them, Eno Kenneth (far left) has informed me that he is NOT seeing clearly with his right eye owing to severe torture by men of the Nigeria Police Force, Akwa Ibom State Command. As you can see from the photos their hairs were shaved, against their wish. They were harassed, tortured, intimidated, teargased and treated like common criminals by agents of the State for daring to demand the payment of their late parents' entitlements from Governor Udom Emmanuel and the Akwa Ibom State Government. This impunity will not go unchallenged. Source; http://www.nationalhelm.net/2017/01/men-tortured-by-police-for-demanding.html
