Livy2018: I took IELTS test today at the IDP MOD lagos mainland centre. I have not seen an organisation has worse as this, in terms of planning. I arrived the venue at 7.30am and just leaving at 5.45pm, just to.write IELTS test. Wow, this is unusual.i wrote with MOD twice and each time, they were so organized start by 9am on the dot and by 12:45, you are out. I wrote today with BC in workforce, I was quite disappointed. The exam started at past 10am and didn't finish until 2:30pm. I expected more from BC. |

koleefem05: Lols...thanks man. Appreciate your concern. I’m doing both Canny and Aussie PR...so IELTS is cost effective for me. I already have 10 points with IELTS and 0 points with PTE. I guess I’ll do better in IELTS than PTE. I guess some of us are not just lucky with PTE. I had 34 in speaking while in IELTS, I had 8.5 in speaking. Whereas in writing, PTE was 90, IELTS 6.5 You see me so? |

wittyshey: Hello everyone, I will really appreciate if i can be guided on the next step to take. I am currently studying Master of Professional Accounting @ ECU, Perth at the moment, so i decided to take another IELTS in order to change my course and i got 8.5 with minimum band 8.0 ( that's 20points) giving me a total point of 65 with my age and degree. This prompted me to try my luck with PR and all my research has even confused me further. My challenge is this: i don't know the appropriate occupation to nominate because i currently have BSc Geography from OAU and the only experience i have is in Banking (3yrs). The only related course to Geography on the list is "Cartographer" however VETASSES website states that atleast one year experience is required. Please, i am open to any suggestion. Thank you You can use your MSc accounting for SMIPA SMIPA The Skilled Migration Internship Program: Accounting (SMIPA) is a professional year program approved by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) (formerly known as the Department of Immigration and Citizenship), available to overseas students who have an Australian accounting degree qualification as a result of at least two years' study in Australia. SMIPA involves: a minimum of 44 weeks' training, including a 12-week internship placement with a relevant host company professional development and practical hands-on learning, with an emphasis on workplace preparation: Culture, ethics and expectations recognition as a pathway for 485 visa holders seeking permanent residency under general skilled migration (GSM) Successful completion of SMIPA may attract additional points under the GSM points test. SMIPA was developed by CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and the Institute of Public Accountants. It is delivered by registered providers who have been approved by all three professional accounting bodies. You can check CPA website for more details. |

toslad: Hello prettysussie,
Truth be told, our chances are very slim. I have been on 70 points with state nomination since last year (NSW and NT) nothing positive yet as Accountant and External Auditor. Whilst waiting, I am trying English tests too to increase my points. As per having hubby write IELTS and assess credentials, it depends on how badly you want it. I wish I had that option as I have spent close to that trying to increase my English score Sis. I don't know how many points you have in English proficiency though. If you are yet to get 20 points, you may consider writing another.
As per Customer Service Manager, I really don't know much about that but nothing ventured, nothing gained! Thanks for the response. My next option might be to start working on Canada. The English requirement is not as high for Aussie. Vetassess fees for hubby credential verification will cover for both IELTS and WES. Once I finish my MBA in June, then we can get up to 450 points. All the best to us. |

Hello everyone, I will like to know what is the likelihood of getting an invite for 190 visa for an accountant on 70 points. I'm weighing the option of husby writing IELTS and having his credentials assessed (over N300k just for 5 points). This will bring total points to 70.
Another option is for him to be the main applicant but his nominated occupation customer service manager is only available for 190 visa which is not sure that the invitation will come.
@toslad @bellong please assist |

toslad: Thank you prettysussie. Spouse has HND (estate valuer) and the assessor is vetassess! Currently on 65 points so trying to get 20 points from English. You know Accountants are somewhat 'endangered'. So na to keep on trying English tests o.
Thanks sis for the interest. I just did IELTS last saturday, hopefully to get 20 points. If not, i might have husby write IELTS and assess his credential, just that VETASSESS is so expensive. My mind is out of this country. I dont even listen to local news again cos its full of sad news. All the best to us. Cheers. |

toslad: Area74, my school is tier 2 too (Olabisi Onabanjo University) I don't think the assessing bodies for Accountant look at the tier thing if your courses are actually in sync with what is required. You never know till you try.
As per associate qualification being able to get into the pool for Accountant, I truly doubt as the minimum is Bachelors. Even those of us with positive assessment outcomes have been waiting since April (in my case).
[quote author=area74 Degree. Since April! How many points do you have. Did you get points for spouse? I'm just considering other ways to boost points. All the best to us all. |
