tribeD:Thanks so much for sharing your experiences especially the emirate part |
Can someone who have recently traveled with emirates state their experience about this 33/36 weeks of flying I called their customer service which was apparently located in Dubai or India due to the dialet of the attendant and she mentioned that the health team would ratify before I confirm my booking if they would allow 36 weeks to fly so it just seems out there in the air Please pple, share your recent experineces |
feddy27:Yes o , I wanted to waka pass without being noticed. You don burst my bubble o ![]() |
Dr D aka Dr D Z. I'm not sure we're allowed to quote their full names here. Google obgyns affiliated to Oakbend. That's how I was able to deduce his full name from his initials used on this forum. I'm a June mum. I paid him via form A last week. He will only release acceptance letter and his bank details after you've paid a non refundable deposit of $200. He will however deduct that from your full bill. I had to get someone in the US to make that deposit for me then i made the balance payment via form A. You can pm me if you need more details.[/quote Thanks,I have Pm'ed you. Would like to get more info |
Menendez:Congrats. Please at what weeks was your wife during travel? Emirates seems to be the cheapest fligth available however the restriction of 33 weeks ko le work Hello Everyone, Please who has successfully used PTA to pay for either doc or hospital here o. Someone mentioned Dr D but dont know who that is. Wont mind some more details |
Newmumi:There's nothing like leaving it too late as i asked delta US office when they advised me to pay at the airport to request that the rate would not change which they confirmed yes. i would advise you go to their site and get their US customer service line, call them and ask for two way trip price and also ask if that would be the same rate for your travel date if you choose to pay at the airport then make your decision for all the info you gather from this |
segbas:When I called the airline office in Nigeria last month, they advised i buy a return ticket and get a refund for the other leg once in nigeria. this was before the saga of the huge one way price tag. Wld call them to know if they can refund buts if the wahala is too much, then its not worth it for abt $70 return in value Delta did not allow wifey use bassinet even though there was two bassinet on board and she was the only one with infant on board. i had to reschedule her flight forward coz her initial ticket was to return on 20th where she had a bassinet seat of 17A but when i rescehduled, the best she could get was 17D as other seats were taken. the hostess no gree allow her use bassinet say she no dey seated on the bassinet seats though I dont hold them too much on this coz its process and i respect processes but on the other hand, she was on the same row, same economy comfort and basinets were totally free. A customer centric organization would find a way around it as they upgrade people in fligth etc |
Hello All, My wife and boy got back yesterday. New learning points to share 1. Buy round trip for baby ticket: Delta quoted about $465 for one way and just $135 for round trip so she sharply purchased the round trip2. E no easy to travel without support: just stressing this as a lot of mothers have already put in a word on this so you may just want to plan your spouse come arnd and travel back with you 3. DELTA AIRLINE Customer service SULKS: Wifey was extremely mad about their treatment, She requested for wheelchair assistance for instance and only got it in lag, they totally ignored her on the US leg and other stuffs they did. the only issue is that they and united are the only carriers to offer direct flight to US. Gulf carriers are excellent in customer service, emirates is my personal flying favorite Take kia all as you may be seeing me less here but wld sure keep checking to see how to help my next American parent. For those planning to give birth in oakbend, tvegas summary nailed all the details you could ever need |
sayoberry:Congrats, double blessings all the way |
mabels:He has 4 locations he consults from and he consults on different dates at these locations:2 in Richmond,1 in Sugarland and 1 is Houston. You can see the addresses in the pdf he sends to you advising of the self pay break down. My wife checked the distnace of each location to her apartment via google maps and opted for the closest which was a 10 minutes drive. |
oluwafunkenny:She would get a mail informing her when her visa is ready for Pick-up. she can also monitor the status on US embassy nigerian based website |
angel55:Madam, You could have gotten this via Tvegas painstakingly well draft summary on " All you need to know about giving birth in the US" ![]() "3. Pick up your BC in Fort Bend County Clerk, 301 Jackson street, Richmond. 4 days after delivery. For example if you delivered on Monday it should be ready by Friday. Go there with your ID i.e. your passport which contains your Visa page . Fill the request forms and pay $23 for each copy. They can issue only 10 BC during the lifetime of your baby . You can pick 2,3 or 4 copies etc. " Fill the application form online or download and fill the template manually, Call to book and appointment and go there on the day of the appointment to justify why you need it within three days and not their standard 2-3 weeks |
tbaby2015:To give a balanced view, I do accept that Dr Fagbohun may not sufficiently spend "patient" time with his patients possibly because of his patient load or out of him seeing no need when there are no issues. My wife also gave that feedback but she also mentioned she is not disappointed in that aspect of him maybe because she isn't expecting to be delayed in the Dr office if there is no issue of concern i.e just going through a routine check up. He picked up a bacteria infection she had during her first visit and started treatment immediately so from my experince, he looks out for potential risk and addresses them, if there is none,he moves on. Tvegas also gave this feedback on him not having time but one thing is mentioned which is critical is that you have a Nigerian US standard based doc who can fight your bill battles should any arises. More-so, off all the feedback, one thing remains consistent i.e No issues during delivery except I missed any of such feedback on the thread. My wife mentioned he personally delivered our baby and he was very professional, prayed for her before they went in for the CS and checked up on her My advice is for you to look at the big picture before making a decision and ask yourself, what is your main goal , so If you place high value on having a doctor pamper you during routine check up ,give you considerable time to discuss your pregnancy progress and possibly not give you a feeling of him rushing you , then Dr fagbohun may not be your man(A doctor should ideally manage his pregnant patient emotions, discuss observations etc as this can influence other stuffs in your health cycle ) BUT if you can comprise on this and place more premium on affordable BUT standard healthcare with someone who still knows his onions well enough to identify and highlight potential delivery risk and how to manage it as well as be on your side should there be complications or need to pay extra bills, then you may still want to consider him. Conclusion is that the ultimate decision is yours but ensure you have a well rounded view before arriving at your decision as no one is a perfect all rounder with maybe some exceptions.I had this feedback of him and discussed with my wife before we decided to go with him in the first place |
bj2012golf:@bj2012golf, Congratulations once again bro @bbaby84, Congrats to you too |
IyawoToBe:Funny Madam ![]() Well, I haven't paid yet. I called their international sales/reservation line and they advised me the price. I could have paid with my card but they advised me to pay at the airport for two reasons: 1. I would need a paper ticket to admit the baby on board and if I paid via telephone,They would have to deliver the ticket by post and the sales rep says she cannot guarantee it would arrive at my US address in the time frame I was requesting for which is within 2 weeks but she however said it is a huge possibility 2. She further advise that I opt to pay at the airport as the price would be the same value within my wife return date so to be on the safe side, i should just pay at the sales office in the airport |
bambini:She used a family friend apartment in houston while filling up her DS-160 form however she is now staying with another family friend in richmond as we settled for oakbend so am not sure I can help here |
customised87:You cannot notarize without an ID,part of the form details requires a government approved ID to be provided ,recorded on the form and validated by notary public. Also, application of US passport requires you provide a copy of the ID used to notorize(" Submit a photocopy of the front and back side of the ID that was presented to the Notary Public with Form DS-3053. " Refer to http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/passports/under-16.html#consent |
Shawbabe:Her return is 20th march. the price $120 was for upgrade to economy comfort seat 17A which is one of the seats you can use bassinet For change in date which i am considering, I was advised by both delta local and international office respectively that it would cost $102 though the Nigeria office agent was surprised at the price they were seeing on the system. She suggested it should be more based on the fact that I bought promo ticket @karypops: See above FYI |
IyawoToBe:$120 at the delta conversion rate of N202 so invariably i paid N24,240 |
IyawoToBe:using waka now to monitor ,its currently 177 but called delta and they told me its goes for 170K but they can only guarantee this till 12pm today |
karypops:She is in the US, the upgrade was for her return ticket to allow use of bassinet |
Acks:Not sure if I can share that here. You can google "delta lagos ticketing office" to get the same info.Checked now and it has further dropped to 178K so u may want to call them to make a booking at least good luck |
delta is N188K now ooo .Usually sales /promo tickets picks up by today till tomorow afternoon. i.e US time. I paid upgrade for my wife and i noticed that thier dollar rate had dropped as delta advised me thier rate today is N208 however when i talked to them yesterday,it was N202. Aparently, they have closed in the Nigerian office but I think you can make a booking by calling their international office and make payment with your Master/VisaCard |
mabels:@Mabels, Dr Fagbohun from what i know rarely or better still does not take previous test so please budge $565 for test and an additional $150 for ultrasound. That is the estimate for his standard test |
Tvegas:Pele, no worries abi d parry. I dey wait for bj2012golf to land im own pickin make we come do tripple celebration. Na dbanj go sing sef Thanks for the info |
karypops:It is because of your travel date and how much booked they are for that period Dates in february have gone up but dates in march are still at 192K |
Tvegas:@Tvegas, Can you clarify more on the exhorbitant fees coz am looking at change dates and I called delta US office which they advised me that If i want to change even though they saw i got a promo ticket,i'd only have to pay the standard $100 fee The one wey high na baby on lap fee which dem quote about $460 one way ticket to Nigeria for me. How much did you get baby ticket? |
IyawoToBe:My wife flew with the awuf promo and paid no extra charge.Note that the fligth booking is for houston, its because delta has thier hub in atlanta that you have there as POE and connecting fligths so no rxn to charge extra as you paid for the full journey |
@Prince Adeade, May God bless your baby and family. You have saved me 60k for this info. I was about to trsf to my agent and decided to chk update on NL and saw this. I quickly made call and ticket issued and paid 197k. /quote] Am only glad i could be a vessel of blessing to someone after-all this I believe is one of the main objectives of this forum. I have a funny feeling it may fall further by next week but guys who haven't bought thier ticket should grab this opportunity. All the airlines are offering some sort of promo/reduced flight fares compared to recent week prices i bought my wife's ticket with a similar delta awof in October for N112,000 which she used to travel in January and she did not have a single issue as she was given a very good seat different from what was assigned to her on d ticket. |
IyawoToBe:Thanks . Lagos to houston via atlanta POE but the date has to be from next two weeks. You can check an online booking system to monitor it |
@ochioraumu, Really sorry for your experince. Please and please, try to relax for baby sake Ok @All, My wife delivered last week tuesday. i have been wanting to post it but work no gree me.
