My program is a 2 years course. I did the first semester in Nigeria before leaving. I came to Canada and stayed about 3months before applying for my family.

Yes, I indicated my family as non-accompanying when I applied for my study visa. So when I was now applying for them, I explained that I had stayed in Canada for a while and can't handle it alone anymore. Yes, my initial home ties were immediate family, life assurance policy, pension acct and assets. When I was applying for them, we changed it to my husband's parents, our siblings and assets including the life assurance and pension. Hope this helps.

1.What kind of employment letter in canada did u provide.I ask because typically u can only work 20hrs a week and that usually is not a major job hence my suprise yoy could gain an employment letter

2.Is your program a 1 or 2 year course.? It also suggested you completed one semester before spplying for your family

Lastly and my major question, did you indicate your family as non accompanying in your own student permit application and if so,how did u navigate convincing the VO of change of intention in a short while in canada. I also assumed your initial home ties was your family so am interested in learning

I am curious about what the VO sees when you use a MyBankStatement...Stanbic IBTC doesn't do it. Do you set a specific period that they can see or do they choose when they want to see? Do they see all your transactions or just the balance?

Stanbic does offer mbs.you likely need to go to thier big branches as smaller branches dont have a clue.Did mine in Idejo branch this December and yes you specify the period

Exactly, I applied alone and used them as home ties.
When I was approved, I travelled to get my sin and permit then applied for them.

In my loe explained how my spouse has his business and will be coming and going as his business can be managed virtually and also
Said that the reason why I needed my baby was because I’m a new mum plus ppd taking a toll on me.

I also addressed how I still have siblings and family to go back to and how my studies will help his business.
I used our land and incomplete building as ties to show we r not absconding from our country. I added how he can’t leave his business for an extended stay in Canada.

I’m certain the person’s loe didn’t address hometies or simply wasn’t wrtitten well.

Ignore people living in Canada , when I wanted to apply for my family, it was the same fear and stories that it will be misrepresentation until I spoke to eddyossam and he said it won’t be as intentions can change.

If you later apply for family , you must still prove hometies, that’s where a good loe comes in.

Because of how toxic “living in Canada “ thread is, I don’t go there, I rather make my mistakes and learn on my own than go there to receive insult.

I had to go check what they were saying and I didn’t expect anything different.

Thanks Lianna2020 for the context and do fully agree with you that intent can change .You only to do a good job clarifying it was not the original intention when u applied for ur study permit. Most people in this thread are in the EE pool and are allowed to apply for student visa and are approved. If you are allowed to have dual intention then change of intention should be your least worry.

For instance, if you have not been away from ur kids for so long and suddenly u travel to canada and then ur cant cope without seeing them and neither can they,wont intention change after that experience.
I had a colleague who moved his family after EE PPR and decided to stay back only for is kids to call one day and telling him that during school programs other dads were there.His wife started crying on the call and him sef.He resign the next week to join his family permanently so intentions do change but must be clearly justfied especially if it changed within a short time

Though am still in the application process, I would recommend when applying for ur family ,ur spouse should be visitor permit rather than SOWP to show stronger home ties.

Note the refusal case mentioned other salient points linked to the intention chnage i.e they cant work to fund thier stay so its seems the VO had deeper concerns beyond the surface intention change.It seemed VO saw that was the intention all along and not a genuine intention change rather than outrightly striking out the intention change

Very recently GTB has increased its limit, so I wanna assume a GTB Master card can make the payment for the Visa application.. Dunno of any other bank though.

Yes GT naira master card goes due to the new $200 monthly limit.Used it just yesternigt to pay for an application

@PrinceAdeAde, I can't remember the exact number I reached them on. However, I placed by booking on October 1st (2021). The earliest available date I saw online was 8th of November (IOM Abuja) and 3rd December (IOM Lagos).

I booked for the 8th of November (Abuja) then I called them to reschedule and they changed it to 21st October. Also, they accepted my request to change my test center to Lagos.

You'll be asked to send them a mail with your medical request letter and payment/booking confirmation.

One thing I noticed was that when I got to IOM Lagos for my medicals, some folks booked that very day at the center because they couldn't reach them via phone/email.

So, try and go to their center if you can. I wouldn't have waited 21 days for my medicals if I had known this.

What you posted here means you left March 2014 - April 2014 out.

Since you resigned in March like you stated, what were you doing before getting another in April ?
(1) Either you put another one ( Mar 2014 - April 2014 UNEMPLOYED)

Or you overlap the employment below as it applied to you;
(a) July 2009 - March 2014
(b) March 2014 - till date

Or

(a) July 2009 - April 2014
(b) April 2014 - till date

I actually tried the date overlap before posting here and still didnt work.Found out that you need to exclude any period you have stated as part of post education period in your employment history else you would get that error as well.its kinda weird as it suggests they expect all post secondary education to be full-time

To be fair to them they did state it on their page however somehow weirdly I didn't think that they actually meant what they stated coz it defied logic and practicality.Well,i removed the work experience period that overlapped with post secondary education and viola ,it moves on to next stage

Learnings is you have to choose which is omportant for your application i.e either your post Secondary education or any work period that overlaps with yhis.i left post Second education and shed off that part of work experience

I said it. I know it will be an issue for many people. I almost gave up too but I love solving problems.

Never leave a year out of the 10 years work experience they asked.
Let me use myself as an example;
1. Working with A ( Sept 2020 - till date)
2. Worked with B ( Jan 2019 - Sept 2020)
3. Worked with C (Sept 2017 - Jan 2019)
4. NYSC (April 2016 - April 2017) You can see there's a gap between my NYSC before my first job. Secret is You cannot leave any space blank. If you were jobless , tell them. If you were selling, tell them. Something must be there since time cannot be paused.

So what I later did was;
5. Unemployed (April 2017 - Sept 2017) So this will come in before the NYSC to show in between.
If you were in school during that 10 years too, Show it there and state it as Unemployed
I was in Uni from 2011 - 2015, so I stated the next this way;

6. Unemployed (Nov 2011 - April 2016)
Since the Uni has been stated ahead on the form.

That has covered the 10 years.
If you leave any month or year out of the 10 years they ask, It will always give ERROR.

I stated just two experience with 1st from July 2009 to Mar 2014. The second from Apr 2014 till date yet it is throwing an error and this is more than the last 10years being required.

Would like to clarify the attached clipped from cic webpage which clearly stat3s kids can school on top of parents study permit i.e kids with Visitors visa can school on thier parents permit. there has been different opinions on this varying from u need study visa for kids as someone confirmed from his/her school immigration advisor to the other end of the spectrum i.e its not required as even confirmed my entry point immigration officer

So my question is for those who currently have thier study permit and kids are with them on Visitors visa

1. Did u have to notify the authorities at any point or ur kids continued schooling on Visitors visa

2. Usually there is a 6 month limit on Visitors visa. i guess most would renew kids vistor visa inside canada and if so,was there any issues raised by immigration or if this was simply converted to study permit at renewal point?

3.for those who may have finished thier studies and now in wirk permit phase of thier stay,did the kids schooling on study permit bring up any issue

It would be great to hear experiences of those who have gone through this as non Visitors visa for secondary application put in later in raking forever to process

Hello everyone, I recently applied to a pgd program at Seneca college which I was told to pay the entire first term school fees for May 2022. I would like to find out if there are other colleges that who accept a tuition deposit which won't be more than 3k cad and then balance up the tuition fee if the visa has been approved .

Uni Manitoba for instance for PGC requires 2k CAD deposit which they state is non refundable but a mail to thier student services officer clarified it is refunded along with any other fees in cases of visa refusal which u can evidence(am sure they would prove difficult if refusal reasons is due to misrepresentation or other reasons due to applicant fault). Only exception to this refund as clarified by d officer is application fee so as most have advised in d past ,reach out to ur school to clarify refund policy

I don’t even know to feel right now. I just got my PPR today. Been applying as a self employed person since 2017 and this technically my 4th application because after my 3rd application was rejected I had to reapply again the 4th time. I can’t really remember all my time line but I’ll come back and tell you guys my experience since it’s abit different as I am self employed and also had to do a judicial review.

Not necessarily. The issue came up in Thread 4. I think it was @Guitarlife who noticed it in his gcms notes.
The conclusion then was that case officers calculate other funds first. If the funds are adequate, the PFA fund is not included. No one has yet reported that POF was found inadequate due to PFA funds. Until then, we will assume it is still valid.

Started Following this thread some weeks back and was amazed at level of open information one can readily access to improve one's chances. I have a quick one though:

1. Is PGDE recognized and evaluated successfully by WES. Using my wife as PA and if her PGDE qualifies successfully as two or more degrees, then our score is likely higher subject to our IELTS results.

2. Also can someone assist with information of retrieving and sending PGDE transcripts to WES.

3. I read in some pages back that statements are allowed by WES. Can this be re-confirmed(sorry,i like re-validating so pls bear with me). For context, She finished and passed her exams last year so Statement of result is the only instrument at the moment.

I understand from people recent experiences that WES is open to changing rules thus I want to find out if anyone has answers based on recent experience.

For number 1. You got it slightly wrong. Your US visa affixed to your passport suffices as a second means of Id. The county person wanted to sell me the sour grapes of getting a second means of id till I showed him his own requirement list where a valid us visa suffices. So that person just stressed your wifey for nothing. Lolz

Modified: in fact only 1 means of id suffices in the instances below and foreign passport is allowed as the only means! Lolz;
