Lol, This is a Myth except there is hard data to back it up. A similar myth is that there is a maximum number of visas that can be issued per day. There are so many myths being peddled about this US NIV, my view is just to be well prepared and trust God for favor.
This is not a myth. I know this for a fact that at least from a UK VO that they have yearly quota per country and when they reach that quota,they only grant for exceptional cases so I belive this approach is taken by US and other countries
And come to think of it, it is a very scientific way as you cannot keep it open ended as each nation has to control the limit of immigrant(be it temporary or permanent)

Hello people,
Lesson learnt
1. Read the thread carefully it helps and do a lot of research personally,may be of greater help.Not every information online is true(as it seems it is difficult to control online informations)
2. Never change the flow of your application forms.stick to what you filled and defend it if sure of it.
3. Honesty preached on this thread

Thank you all for the sincere posts and feedbacks on this thread.

Please refer to my previous interview transcript.Seems that was the main interview.Interviewed today,was the first person to be interviewed.

VO:are u next?
Me: yes.we greeted(VO responded good morning with a professional face)
VO: pass me your documents please( collected passport and started typing for almost a minute)
VO: Are you still going for the same purpose?
Us:yes
VO: what has changed from the last time?do u now have the right documents now
Us:yes
VO:ok(kept typing).how much do you earn?(we responded)
VO: do you have enough fund saved for this purpose(with a straight face)
Us:yes(do u mind to see our documents)
VO:No it's ok.(read and kept typing,typing,typing,typing......no smiles)
VO: pick up your visa and printed the paper
Hello hopefulme ,

Congrats on your visa.The interview was quite short and he seems from the word go,the VO has made up his mind to grant you the visa.that was amazing favor sha. Quick one though:Did you re-apply with your family and reused the same elpaso.Also where was your visa interview(Lagos or ABuja)

We went for visa interview on 12th nov and was interviewed by the black lady in the first cubicle. She typed forever and denied us . The whole interview didnt just feel right. When we got home that same day i prayed and started the process again. I decided to use abuja and got dec 2nd.
I just got it approved today,thanks be to God.

Vo: goodmorning. What is your purpose for visiting the us?
I: to have my baby and vacation.
Vo:i see you have been to the us before. Can i see the evidence you have repaid medicaid
I: (hand her my receipts)
Vo: can i have price quote from the hospitsl and doctors cotrespondence
I: i have insurance(hands her documentation and doctors appointment letter)
Vo: didnt you have this insurance last time you travelled?
I: no
Vo: can i see bank statement?
I: (hand her statement and payslips)
Vo: you printed this yourself. The bsnk did not give it to you.
i: yes
vo: what hospital are you using?
I: sharon regional
Vo: make sure you take all this documentatiom when travelling and get a letter from the hospital stating the cost and what you have to pay. Your visa has been approved.

All tru i was thanking God it was already done and silently speaking in tongues.
Congrats Supamon,
good to hear some cases of eventual success
May I suggest all those re-applying after denials to consider abuja as it seems the abuja VOs are more objective ,less sentimental and listen than their Lagos colleagues.
Someone once mentioned this also and even attributed it to the fact that the VOs know abuja is filled with "influential" pple than the "gbogbo ero" Lagos and it actually makes sense.Well,just an observation

@SisiOlu,

Thanks for the detailed information. I am encouraging myself on behalf of my wife as these details are scary.Dont really understand what was going thru the VO mind.
The only thing I could pick out was that you mentioned the VO highlighted that she can only see visit, to me that looks like she was seeing your application as a B1 category application rather than a B2 application.
Also, the VO said she used both your past interview and this interview to arrive at a conclusion. this may have sort of worked against you as i reviewed your transcript of the first interview.

have said it all my sister,it is well and there is GOD ooo

Quick one though:
How come you budget was 2.7mill(about $15,000) and your bills was only $5000 meaning you had $10,000 budgeted for possibly ticketing,feeding & accommodation. Did she raise any flag on this as my wife's budget is similar only that her total delivery cost is about $10,000 minus other expenses
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by PrinceAdeAde: 2:26pm On Dec 02, 2014
SisiOlu:
Hi bj2012golf,

I mentioned the same thing yesterday. The female VO that interviewed me said she understands that delivery charges are around 10,000 dollars and above. I responded that my quote had been discounted by 40% for self pay patients as I was paying cash upfront. I even offered to show her other cost estimates from other hospitals in the same state which she declined.

A pregnant lady that was interviewed by another VO got her visa approved. So dunno...

Was it a black lady that interviewed you too? So what do you intend to do now. Please let me know so i can adopt it or we can plan together.

Regards,
@bj2012golf,

Would appreciate if you can share your transcript and also i asked a question earlier which I would be grateful you answer "Was the VO referring to delivery charges as the end to end delivery fees containing docs,hospital,pediatrics,anesthesia etc OR she was just particular on hospital charges alone"

SisiOlu:
Hi guys,

I noted two important things: you must leave a window period of 90 days before re-applying after a refusal and it seems the VOs wanna see quotes that are above $6,000 as they believe hospitals charge far more than that.
So Sorry for your denial SisiOlu,it is really well even in the well
Quick one though,Can you clarify what you mean that the VOs want to see quotes above $6,000 for hospitals? Is this hospitals bills only or plus the obyn/gyn fees included.Kindly clarify

It's a personal opinion because you don't go home with tax, you only take home your disposable income. Gross or net income isn't something to worry over because the tax amount is minimal. But if gross income makes you more comfortable use it. Like I told you before there are no hard and fast rule to establishing financial ties. Cheers.
Thanks bro but only if you knew how much tax I pay, you go know say , e dey significant in some cases not to even come put in pensiongrin
I was praying you were not going to tell me your source was US embassy.

I am planning to use gross for my next application as I even tried to research the general view of monthly income via Google and the feedback i received was that when not explicitly stated such as net or gross, what is usually required is the gross monthly income as this includes money you are entitled to access in some circumstances such as pensions ,housing funds etc. you can even get rebates for taxes sef

A colleague of mine used gross monthly for application and got visa with this. and also a friend based in the US advised i used gross since not explicitly stated

Well , enuf of my story. thanks for the clarification bro

And about the income declaration, you are supposed to declare your net income after tax so you ain't far from the actual thing. The help desk cannot help you fill your form.
Hello Tvegas,

Can you clarify on your source of confirmation of the above information. I say this because I applied with net monthly income and was denied.Part of my denial reasons i believe was because of my income. i researched this further after denied and even mailed the embassy on what they require in this income field and they responded in a general manner with no specifics. On my research, i found on US embassy official pages such as Mexico ,dubai and I think Indian that the citizens should input gross monthly income before some certain deductions

So I would be really be interested in your source as I my wife would be re-applying soon

@bj2012golf,

Check the email address you used to create your nairaland profile. You should see an email from narialand saying I requested to contact you.check your junks/spam folders in case you do not see it in your inbox

I am not too sure i understand you by the statement " can't sign into d email addy attached to dis NL profile". if you means that you created your nairaland profile using a yahoo email account and you cannot sign into the yahoo account, then i would advise you update your narialand profile to a functional email address you still have access

I would also advise you contact the embassy to advice you if your wife can proceed with renewal with drop box(logically, you would need to re-apply since she is requesting for a separate visa type but all these process have exceptions so as to make them less cumbersome and rigid) and if they decline that, then let your wife alone re-apply for the B2 visa. for yours, i think you should just renew with dropbox. this may make it easier to present your wife's application for a B2 visa

@bj2012golf,

From my own interview,what triggered the VO looking at the wall was when i and my wife was asked about our monthly income so i believe they have a sort of analysis sheet that grades you based on monthly income. From what i gathered online,based on searches about what to put in the monthly income field and from my friend staying in the US, i was advised to take my gross earnings and divide by 12. that i did not do as i just put my net monthly income which is minus some quarterly payments ,pensions,tax deduction and be bee looo. I saw this advice on some american embassy sites for india,mexico but naija own was not that specific so i think my VO took my income as gross monthly and applied an estimate of further expected deductions on it and determined that was not sufficient to fund a US trip even without asking for a bank statement so that is something i am correcting on the next application

Also, i strongly believed that the VO saw little or no ties to home country as na my whole family dey apply so my wife is applying alone next time to so such ties. All the deductions by VO was based on the form DS160 information as she did not ask for any evidences

I hope this analysis can help you during your next interview.Sent you a PM.

Hmm congratulations

Well my wife, MIL & were denied renewal of our B1/B2 visa on thursday, the VO's first and main grouse was dat the hospital bill of $8,645 was too low for birthing, second was dat we cldnt fund d expenses (we av saved N3.4m).

We av however applied again, dis time around without my MIL, interview date is dec. 2nd, wonder wat more we can do?

Comments welcomed

Thanks n God bless
hello bj2012golf,

Was also denied a while back with no clear reason like yours though.Did you have the hospital and docs fee breakdown as mailed to you to show as evidence that the said money is sufficient?
Also what was the basis for the VO concluding that you could not fund your trip, was it on the basis of the hospital bill of $8,645 plus other expenses such as flight cost versus your bank balance OR was it based on his/her assumption that birthing costs more that you budgeted, lets say an outrageous $20K and he/she believed that your bank statement could not fund it

Finally was your total budget very close to your bank balance as the VO also want to see you have a reasonable cushion after your travelling expenses

Hello PrinceAdeAde and Neoski,

I had my interview with my hubby in September using Doctoresparati and we were granted. Strong ties depends on what the VO is looking out for. But if you have landed property documents or shares and letters from your jobs if you are working amongst other burden of proof, i think you will be fine.
Cheers!
@Beauty,
You are absolutely correct but note I stressed this in my earlier statment that "there are also cases that the visas are granted without issues thus this advice is not absolute" and also i mentioned that majority of the VOs use the information on the application forms and the interview as they are trained to do so. requesting for additional documents to back up your cases is not a giving but may be requested of you notwithstanding so the best option is to present you application in such that on the merit of the application alone, it does show strong ties to your home country

Nope, appointment is not straightforward for docs using WHMC
Dr la and rizik would need some deposit to book appointment but dr huyuh does not however she would request for all your tests results and medical records before accepting you as a patient

if your visa interview date is that close, i would suggest you try dr fagbohun in richmmond(about 30 mins from houston i hear) and he uses oakBend medical center. You can email hime on fagbohunmd@yahoo.com and he would respond with the overall delivery costs. He doesn't issue appointment as he says that with his years of experince,only an email correspondence is required

@shelly23,

I hear you but I would really be interested if any one with a connecting flight can share their experiences as the ones I have seen so far on this forum are experiences of final stop POE.
You know these immigration officers are clearly misbehaving as their attitudes and behaviors are clear violation of human rights and should this get to the appropriate authorities, it would be looked into but the sang is no one would report and everyone just wants to get in,get out and not be tagged for reporting such incidences which may cause future "consequences" so if you do actually have a connecting fligth, you have an airline carrier to check their excesses to a point. that's all am saying

@Neoski,

You husband would needs to sign a notarized form and send to you in the US for you to process your baby's passport if he not physically present.
I would advice you read the thread extensively as this information is well captured within
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by PrinceAdeAde: 11:44am On Oct 30, 2014
Neoski:
My question is that I would like to travel to give birth to my first child using doctores para ti,me and my hubby will be going for the visa interview but my hubby might not be able to travel with me because of work after we are given visas.will I have issues at Poe if I travel alone?
@Neoski,

I would advise you apply alone to prove strong ties with home country with your hubby staying back coz if you apply together and based on the information you are limited to provide on the DS-160 form(from which majority of visa decisions are made), the VO may be tempted to think that you, ur hubby traveling for 1st child that you guys wouldn't be coming back. He can apply after you have been issued a visa to state he wants to support you during and after delivery

Note that are also cases that the visas are granted without issues thus this advice is not absolute. am also talking from experience coz my family was denied. I do not belive you would have POE issues if he is granted and could not make it as travel plans changes but you may want to hold some form of documented evidences to validate these changes to minimize the risk of the POE immigrant harassment
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedure? by PrinceAdeAde: 11:33am On Oct 30, 2014
I think another way to circumvent all these horrible POE experience would be to board a connecting international flight and have your POE at the connecting point. I believe they may be unable to delay you beyond a reasonable time due to your connecting flights on the airline
Airlines usually come looking for their passengers to avoid delay and refunds as the delay is not your fault

Just thinking this may help except someone had an experience faulting the above assumptions

Take my case for instance, I met an elderly friend at the American ambassador's residence on July 1st,during the independence day celebration. He is a commercial attache at the US embassy but knows nada about the birthing process. I told him about my plans to birth in the USA and he warned me not to follow wifey for her interview, that they may cancel my visa and that wife should package her pregnancy at the POE. Whose words was i suppose to believe,if not him?. Luckily i stumbled on this thread took my time to read and applied everything. Its even easier for you because you have a visa already, notify the embassy of your plan. You will be travelling by the 7th/8th month, so you have at least 2 months to read this thread and jot down all the information needed. Wish you the best.

@Nobody,

I think I agree with you to best ignore than insult fellow adults on a free board forum who no one pays for.You never know the story behind the other side so please be slow to judge and push away. This is being taught in a lot of emotional intelligence/team work/conflict mgmt trainings out there.

I read through the whole pages and coz of the background I have on boards such as this but others may just bump in and see pple asking questions and others receiving answers and they'll just take a go at it.

It would have been easy if a welcome page pops up when joining to share the ground rules but since we have none,members are left to intution to determine the next line of action and mind you,intuition is build based on experiences so if I have never visited such a board, i would just draw my conclusion of interaction based on the first set of information I see.

What I am trying,either ignore,politely answer the question or enlighten the new member on the ground rules

Please,I and my wife go rejected recently also and want to re-apply.I tried sending you an IM but your profile name is not hyper-linked which is weird which translates to you being an administrator or the system malfunctioned.Can you please send me an IM . @Imo007,

Read through your experience and didn't know what to feel(anger,thankfulness for life..) . Well as some pple have mentioned, i think you need to sue the hospital for negligence and mind you, you can actually sue the hospital against some post that mentioned you can probably only suit the physician
1. Negotiate the bills well with them to see if they would break as am sure they would be thinking that they can exploit you since you have never mentioned a lawyer.Is there a way to get the diagnosis of the placenta thing as evidence?
2. While doing that,consult a lawyer to determine the process,associated costs and all that to determine if option 2 is a viable alternative.
3. You may also want to report them to the regulatory body for hospitals in the area. regulators have serious power in advanced countries and your case would be strong if you have others with similar experiences to solidify your claims

Option 2 is my advisable option but evaluate all carefully coz if you dont get a leadway in option 2 & 3 and you have to revert to option 1, the outcome may be very unpleasant

Above it all, Thank God for life

@All,

I believe we need more of this experiences on the board as i noticed that there the only few we have comes out after someone summons the courage to share and you start hearing others worrisome experiences. I believe this is an anonymous board so please share all you positive and most especially your negative experiences as you may as well SAVE SOMEONES LIFE BY SHARING IT.

The best thing you can do is to take time on your laptop, begin to check different dates close to your travel date on travelstart.com or wakanow.com, some days have been fully booked so flexibility is important. For example on travelstart Nov 24th was 250k while Nov 22nd was 114k. After confirming an affordable date call the delta office directly and make your reservation. We thank God for your life and that of the baby. That is what matters most. I have a friend in phoenix at the moment and she has had only good things to say about them. I pray things turn out well for her and my friends on this thread also planning to use them. Sorry about your refusal. I think the practise is that you can reapply at anytime. However, i will advice you to present a transcript of your interview on this thread so like minds can advise you on how to package your application. All Visa officers will tell you to reapply even though they've signified on their system that you dont qualify for an NIV yet.
Hello Tvegas,

Thanks for your response.I did share my transcript a few hours after my interview even such that FreshFace responded to my postings.
I looked for it to refer you to it but I cannot find it so I believe it was removed by admin and this may possibly be linked to why I was recently suspended from the forum which i am still yet to fathom.

Primarily, the VO did not ask for any supporting documents ( despite me taking along a burden of proof as advised on this forum)as she evaluated our application(myself,my wife and son) based on the information provided on the DS-160 form even though we came out clearly that the primary reason for travel is for child birth
