Politics / Gallant Men Of Nigeria Army's Roadwork today morning (Photos) by princemmab(m): 1:04pm On Sep 26, 2015
I was in Zaria today and was thrilled when I saw those gallant Nigeria Army 73rd intake recruits in their thousands, grouped in various battalions and escorted by hundreds of armed soldiers doing roadwork in the streets of the town, under the showers of today's early morning rain. Each one of them wore a camo trouser and a vest according to their battalion's colour with a backpack and a small fold 'boarding school blanket' (of course the type we had in CSSKD) fastened to their backs. My heart melted as I gave ears to the morale song a particular group of these combatants were chanting: at the peak of their voices with rain shower pouring heavily on them, they all had their both arms stretched out like they were holding imaginary rifles and were shouting;

Sambisa oo sambisa,
sambisa oo sambisa,
who go go oo sambisa,
Na me go go oo sambisa
I say na me go go oo sambisa

Some might say it's just lip service because they were compelled to do so, but on the contrary, these guys were doing this with gladness. Some of them even added a few dance steps (garalla and shakitibobo) to the roadwork. I saw happiness, gallantry and bravery in their faces.

Sambisa forest is known to be one of the major hideouts of dreaded insurgents of Nigeria in Borno state and while I lived in Maiduguri, Borno state, from the 'uprising' of insurgency up to the time when our Kanem Borno city was chaotic and full of unrest, and the word sambisa became a synonym to horror in those 'troubled years', but today these braves ones are ready to be used a tools and machinery to restore total peace to our nation, I salute their bravery. May God bless and protect them.
Plenty gbosa for you

Long live COAS, Major-General Tukur Y Buratai who inaugurated Operation Lafiya Dole and father of a fellow ex-commando (TKB) *famz
Long live: all ex-commandos who went further to serve in the Armed Forces and all combatantly serving officers and soldiers.
God bless The Nigerian Army and the entire Armed Forces and may the souls of all fallen heroes continue to rest.

wkkwl:
Greetings my friends,

Am planning to do a course online in public Health with Texila American Uni in Guyana can someone help me verify they re real.

People said they re approved by WHO, and also notable bodies Please can someone confirm this and also can i get a job in Nigeria with an online Degree, What do you guys think

why i am opting for it is that i am working and if i leave my job, knowing fully the condition of Nigeria right now with getting jobs its not easy out there actually,i will have to study for 2years and i will be going to Ghana for that,am sponsoring myself, so my job is sustaining me tho the pay is not much but i wanted to get a degree and add to it then i will be ok,but i need ur suggestions.

A friend told me about the school, she said is good and all she said by september she would be 1 yr with the sku...

Your advice and contributions are welcomed thanks

Texila American University is genuine. I know more about their medical and nursing programmes than their online studies.

What you nee to know now is if online degrees are recognised in Nigeria.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Can I Get A Job With My 3rd Class Degree??? by princemmab(m): 10:20am On Jun 26, 2015
bodeoni:
Its not the degree that gets one a job, its your ability. The degree is just a way of shortlisting so as to reduce some load. One thing you could do is to de-emphasize your education on your CV and emphasize your achievements. I also think you should look outside microbiology cos its a course that hasn't really found its place in Nigeria hence few job oppurtunties.

Modified
By way of addition, I know some people will recommened that you start self-employment. Believe me, its not always the best option especially if you don't have adequate resources and proper know-how for whatever trade you might choose. Like I said earlier, de-emphasize education on all your applications. What you need to do now is gain some serious intermediate-expert level competency in various skills esp skills like Problem solving, Interpersonl skiils, Communication skills, critical thinking/questioning. You should also develop your research I.e knowing where/ how to obtain information and to properly harness or utilize said info for profit.

Nigeria is rapidly evolving and those who will be on top in the times to come are those who can properly harness the power of information (or knowledge)

Its not going to be easy, a lot of people will look down on you cos of the class of your degree. Some will even offer to pay you peanuts. You must be constantly developing yourself as you will always have to prove what you are really worth.

It will be all good in the end.

Politics / Re: Yakubu Dogara Holds Thanksgiving Service For His New Position As Speaker (photo) by princemmab(m): 10:25am On Jun 15, 2015
DTaj:
I could see quite a number of people wondering aloud how Speaker Yakubu Dogara could be a Christian! With due respect, it appears that a lot of men and women of the younger generation (below 40 years) are intellectually lazy! What stops anyone from using their ubiquitous gadgets to check Dogara's profile. So easy!

It was this intellectual laziness that caused a so-called founder of a branding and communication consulting firm and a former President of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Lagos State, Chike Ofili, to repeatedly claim in a long essay on Premium Times about recent political developments that Speaker Yakubu Dogara was a Muslim and that APC had given the Speaker to a Muslim from the North East! And a lot of equally ignorant, mischievous, and bigoted readers (largely PDP supporters) were applauding him!

It is incredible that in spite of the various clarifications about the ethnic and religious configuration in the North, some people still believe that EVERYONE in the North is a Muslim! It is akin to saying that EVERYONE in the South-South is a Christian when a very large part of Edo North are Muslims...

There are indigenous Christians in Kebbi, Niger, Nasarawa (large), Bauchi, Kaduna (almost the whole of the South), Borno, Adamawa (South), just as there are indigenous minority Muslims in Edo, Enugu, Anambra...

And not every one who bears Yakubu, Ibrahim, Abdullahi, Shehu, Balarabe, Haruna, Bala, Amina, Laraba, Aisha, etc in the North are Muslims. Those names, although largely Muslim, have been ingrained into the culture in the North and because the majority language spoken in the North is Hausa, most people adopt the names, whether Muslim or Christian...

And what is this one saying?
