ABUJA – The Oba of Benin, His Royal Highness, Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II, has called on South Africa Government to put measures in place to end the frequentc xenorphobic attacks against Nigerians in their country.

The Oba made the call during the post coronation reception and Cultural display organised in his honour yesterday by the Edo indigenes resident in Abuja.

The Royal Majesty said that Nigeria did so much of work for South Africa to be freed from apartheid and also helped Angola in many ways and as deserve better treatment rather than attacks.

He said: “We are a little sad in Nigeria that our Nigerians are constantly being bombbarded with hostility and aggression.

“We appeal to South Africa Government to do its best to stamp out this hostility to Nigerians as Nigeria played a lot of role in the fight against apartheid, so that Nigerians can live in peace in their country.

“This will enable Nigerians to reap what they sowed in other African countries.’’

The Oba also emphasised the need to uphold the Edo culture and value system.

“I want you to please uphold your culture very high, hold our value system seriously and do not let anybody destroy it because that is the identity we have.

“Anywhere you go their culture is very important to them, so let us not import other people’s culture from foreign land to supersede our own that is why I try to encourage the use of indigenous language in the homes.

“That is why I also encourage the re-introduction of Edo language in schools and it is worrisome that history is not taught in schools.’’

He urged Edo indigenes in Abuja to do their best to uphold the unity of the country.

“I want to plead with all indigenes of Edo in Abuja to do their best to keep within the law, keep within the regulation and try not to find a way to use shortcut to breach established regulation in whatever you are doing.

`We will be praying that you succeed in whatever legitimate activities you lay your hands on.”

The Oba further expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for the honour done him at the Vila and also during and after his coronation.

In his adress, the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, represented by Mr Festus Osaigbovo, Director General, Edo Liaison Office, Abuja, said that the position of the Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Oba Ewuare II was sacrosanct.

According to him, the Oba’s responsibility was not only to preserve the tradition and culture of the people of great Benin Kingdom but to also ensure that there was peace, harmony, justice among his subjects.

Governor Obaseki praised the Oba, whom he said upon the assumption of the stool of his forefathers ensured that there is peace and justice on the land.

“Permit me to mention that in the past one year of my Administration in Edo state as the Executive Governor, the state has been relatively peaceful.

“A lot has been achieved owing much to the tremendous support and cordial relationship to the Oba’s palace,’’ he added.

On his part, the immediate past Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, also commended the Oba for his leadership style, noting that he had built on the enviable foundation laid by his forefathers.

He said that the Oba had introduced and continued to innovate the way every new leader should do that anything can always be better.

“Those who have watched your actions, your pronouncement, your styles and your carriage are proud to have you as our paramount traditional ruler.

“By your title you are the Oba of Benin but in truth you are the Royal Father of Edo.
“We are proud of our father, we are respected because of our intelligence, creativity and because of our resourcefulness, Edo man will never take second.

“This why our Oba is number one.’’

Mr Dickson Omoregie, Chairman of the Edo community in Abuja solicited the permission of the Oba of Benin to erect a Bini House for display of artifacts of the rich cultural heritage of the Kingdom.

According to him, this will accommodate the Benin Cultural Artifacts for local and international viewership to be unveiled by the President and witnessed by other Heads of State and international community.
End.

I own both parents. And infact they had another litter of puppies on the 6th of Nov. I was shocked to see the picture of the dog online six months after she had been sold.
I told Bobby and rather than admitting his fault he started boasting that he had no time to check about dogs he sells.

I have screenshots of our chats. He claimed that one Dr. Remi Adeosun advertised the dog to him so I told him to verify but he insisted he doesn't need to.

When I raised a eyebrow about his sincerity he quickly came here to put SOLD on it.
Such a disgraceful act

If I didn't warn you about this you probably would've deceived people into thinking this puppy is for sale. This is a puppy I sold since May. How could you put same for sale in November and claim ignorance?

THE Ijaw ethnic nationality across the Niger Delta has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to call the revered Oba of Benin to order over alleged second-class treatments meted out on Ijaws in Ijaw communities of Edo State.

They specifically frowned on an alleged deployment of soldiers to prevent Ijaws and their monarchs from gaining access to Olodiama kingdom in Ovia North Local Government Area for the coronation ceremony of the new monarch, HRM Alagba Bunafa on Monday night and Tuesday morning.

Scores of Ijaws from Gbaramatu kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State, Idweni Kingdom, Kolokuma Kingdom, Ogbeyin kingdom and others were reportedly denied access to Olodiama kingdom for the coronation by stern-looking soldiers laying siege to the access road to the kingdom.

At a press briefing held at Warri Club on Tuesday morning, the Benemowei and spokesperson of the Gbaramatu Traditional Council of Chiefs, Chief Godspower Gbenekama, accused the Oba of Benin of masterminding the deployment of soldiers to block the road leading to Olodiama kingdom Monday night.

Gbenekama, who spoke on behalf of the people and monarchs of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Idweni Kingdom, Kolokuma Kingdom and Ogbeyin kingdom who were in attendance, averred that the siege being laid on Olodiama was calculated to portray the Ijaws as troublemakers.

He wondered why the military would allow itself to be used by overbearing Benin to desecrate and degrade the traditional institution of the Ijaws as if they are second-class citizens.

Gbenakama described as ironical and counterproductive the Federal Government’s deployment of soldiers to scuttle the coronation of a royal which it usually relies on to engender peace in the region. We will not be bullied by the Edo's

He disclosed that the coronation of a new pere in Olodiama was significant because the people had had no monarch for a long time, but just recently agreed on a suitable choice for peace and development of the kingdom.

“This is not acceptable to the Ijaw kingdoms. They were on a peace mission to celebrate with their kin and kiths in Olodiama kingdom.

“One wouldn’t know why the military went to set up a roadblock but we want to say that this very very unacceptable.

“The Kings have tried to get into Olodiama but they are being repelled by the military authority.

“We’re not happy over it. This is not an issue of militancy, neither is it an issue of criminality.

“It’s an irony for a government who relies on traditional stools to engender peace in communities to also turn against the same traditional institutions,” Gbenekama conjectured.

According to him, the unfortunate treatment of the Ijaws in Edo State might have been informed by the economic assets sited in their kingdom, a situation is seen as giving them an upper hand in the scheme of things in the state.

“The Benin kingdom has been struggling to annex Olodiama kingdom because of the oil and seaport sited there.

“So, one won’t be surprised when this kind of things happens. We deduce that the hand of the royal father of Benin Kingdom is behind what is happening.

“It’s just the face of the military but it’s the hand of the Oba of Benin,” the fiery activist opined.

While declaring that the Ijaws were not at war with the FG, the Ijaw kingdoms warned the FG not to drag other Ijaw kingdoms into the dispute Benin’s have with their kin and kith in Edo to avoid a spiral effect through misconceptions.

“The Ijaw nation is not at war with the Nigerian nation nor is the Ijaw kings at war with the Nigerian nation.

“The best they’ve been doing well is to ensure that there’s peace in the Niger Delta, but this what the Nigerian government has succeeded in repaying them with.

“Olodiama had had kings in the past, but there’s been an interregnum, so it’s in a bit to install a new one. Because the people have come together and agreed that the interregnum was over.

“The FG is drawing other Ijaw nations into the crisis of Olodiama kingdom and into the misunderstanding that’s in Edo State.

‘We’re appealing that our royal fathers should be allowed to do what they’re meant to do in Nigeria.

“The Edo State should not pull in other Ijaw kingdoms into the crisis. Olodiama kingdom is a sister kingdom to all other Ijaw kingdoms.
