Renowned Gospel singer and evangelist, John Kola-Idowu, has led a solemn prayer dedication for Nigeria, calling upon the Christian community to intercede and pray for the nation’s well-being amidst its challenges.

Addressing journalists in Osogbo, the state capital of Osun, during a press conference, the dedication of Psalms 1-150 to the Christian faith, Kola-Idowu emphasised the significance of prayer in seeking divine intervention and guidance for the nation.

“In the midst of challenges and uncertainties, we turn to the timeless wisdom and spiritual guidance found within the Psalms to intercede for our beloved country,” stated Kola-Idowu, highlighting Nigeria’s myriad social, economic, and political challenges. He underscored the importance of unity in prayer, transcending tribal, religious, and background differences.

The evangelist urged fervent prayer for Nigeria’s leaders, emphasizing the need for wisdom, justice, and integrity in governance.

He also called for prayers for the vulnerable and marginalized, seeking comfort and support for those in need.

While emphasising the role of prayer not only in spiritual upliftment but also in addressing the nation’s circumstances, Kola-Idowu urged Nigerians to pray against insecurity and for the nation’s economic recovery, harnessing the power of prayer for tangible transformation.

“As we lift our voices in prayer, may we be reminded of the words of Psalm 33:12, ‘Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,'” stated Kola-Idowu, invoking blessings upon Nigeria amidst the solemn dedication.

Nairaland / General / Niger Delta Group Bemoans Hardship Caused By Subsidy Removal, Demands Kyari's Sa by Princsk1(m): 1:37pm On Jul 22, 2023
The National President of, the South-South Youths Initiative, Imeabe Saviour
has decried the hardship caused by fuel subsidy removal across the country.

According to him, the removal of the subsidy was sudden and was done without a concrete plan in place.

Imeable in a statement on Saturday and available to journalists in Abuja also called for the sack of the GMD of NNPCL, Mele Kyari

The statement read, " We understand that a cabal made of few greedy Nigerians have used the subsidy placed on Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, popularly called Fuel, as a way of enriching themselves and there has been the growing need for the state to withdraw its partial funding on the importation of the product. But, we thought that a well-articulated, thought-out action and reinvestment plans, would have been put in place and same effectively proposed and communicate to the people before any action would have taken effect.

"While the people were struggling to acclimatize with the increase of PMS to 511/litre, the government again hiked same to 617/litre. This can only happen in a Grave Nation, a dead country, where survival is not a given. We wonder about the true reason people are given the opportunity of leadership; if it is to make selfish policies and misguided actions or to make what can be adjudged as humane and liberal policies.

We have truly observed the failure of this administration to bring the needed peace and development to our people. This is propelled by the existence of people like Mele Kyari, the Group Managing Director of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited, NNPCL, in public space. His failure to play an advisory role has caused serious shame and backlash on this young administration.

Kyari has failed to make justice to his first role of advising the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on the right policies to implement and at the right time to do so. We see that he lacks the understanding of what constitutes effective corporate governance for failing to guide Mr. President on the right steps to take. Therefore, we call for his immediate resignation for failing and causing Nigerians pain.

We are calling on Kyari to resign his position immediately for failing to offer good advice to Mr. President. It is because of his actions and inactions that the entire country is in this present hardship. In sane climes, when a public officeholder fails to carry out his functions effectively and the result of such action leads to some negative impact on the people, they willingly resign their position as a mark of showing remorse.

We want Kyria to show this remorse that he has caused millions of Nigerians untold hardship. His resignation is important to Nigerians. We also want him to apologize to Nigerians for his failure to know what his functions are in the office he currently occupies, which includes providing advisory roles to the President.

Nevertheless, should he refuse to heed our call within seven days, we are calling on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to sack him and bring in an experienced technocrat that can drive the visions of this administration in NNPCL, if there is any. Going further we are aware that NNPCL plays a major role in sustaining the security of the nation financially therefore we are calling on the attention of the security agencies not to be allowed to be used by a failed system like NNPCL.

He vowed that members of the group would shut down offices of the NNPCL offices in South-South states if Kyari remains in office in the next seven days.

He said, "However if the President fails to sack him after he refuses to resign within seven days, we will have no option than shut down offices of NNPCL in the States of South-South. This is not a threat it is a promise we the youths of this nation will implement for the sake of the suffering masses."

Amalgam of youths in Ibeshe, Yewa North of Ogun State, on Wednesday blocked the major road in the town, leading to Dangote Cement, to protest the alleged imposition of an alien, one Rotimi Mulero, as the new king of the ancient town against a popular candidate, Idowu Abdulhazez Adedimeji, from the eligible ruling house, the Olokojobi family.

The youths accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of conniving with certain powerful individuals in the town to scuttle the age-long process of Obaship in the sleepy town.

According to them, despite several court rulings and Ifa Oracle pronouncement confirming Adedimeji as the rightful candidate, the Governor and individuals insisted on a wrong candidate, Rotimi Mulero.

Nairaland / General / Ede Poly Gets Research Grant To Boost Women's Participation In Politics by Princsk1(m): 9:04pm On Apr 06, 2022
The Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, has secured a grant to deepen women's participation in politics and democratic governance, as well as to end discriminatory tendencies against women, through a project titled: IMPACT OF CITIZENSHIP LAWS, PRACTICES AND POLICIES ON WOMEN’S RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN POLITICS AND GOVERNANCE IN OYO and Osun States.

The project is being sponsored by National Women Trust Fund and Ford Foundation, with a Chief Lecturer and Director of Legal Services of the institution, Dr. Mrs Jade Mohammed as the Principal Researcher and Coordinator of the project.

Enunciating the scope of the project and it's inherent social impacts, at the end of a workshop held in Osogbo in March, Mrs Mohammed explained that the concept of 'Citizenship' encompasses a sense of solidarity beyond difference in either ethnicity or religion.

She, however, asserted discriminatory citizenship / indigeneship triggers the feeling of alienation from a community, weakens social cohesion and promotes tension.

According to her,'' Discriminatory Citizenship/Indigeneship is a major bane of women's participation in politics. Existing works on women’s political participation have focused on education disadvantage, job stereotyping, unemployment, cultural stereotype,
and political perception in Nigeria.

"Obviously, less attention has been given to discriminatory citizenship laws, policies and practices affecting women’ s participation in politics and governance in Nigeria. There is thus the urgent need to break all barriers militating against women's participation in politics and governance, including discriminatory Citizenship/ Indigeneship practices in order to attain SDG 5".

Recall that a maiden workshop with critical stakeholders was held on March 24th, 2022 at GMT Hotel and Event Centre ,Osogbo, where participants unanimously agreed that the prevalence of discriminatory citizenship/indigeneship against women remains violence against women.

There was an eloquent call at the workshop to stop Discriminatory Citizenship/ Indigeneship and other forms of discrimination against Women and to also strengthen women Voices and participation in current democratic dispensation, changing the mindset and removing all barriers hindering nomination of women for elective and appointive positions is also being advocated.

Meanwhile, women politicians at the workshop noted that a new barrier is created each day to exclude women from governance, with Political Parties demanding for PhD,MSc. certificates as part of the conditions for nomination of women into positions.

According to them, this is an antithesis of Gender Inclusion in all ramifications and violence against women.

The project is a component of National Women Trust Fund Project for Strengthening Women Voices ,Institutions, Rights and Ending Violence against Women.

Crime / SOFIA OHAEKELEM: How Police Investigations Proved My Innocence – Husband by Princsk1(m): 9:58am On Mar 06, 2022
The sudden death of the Nigerian-American business woman and Chief Executive Officer of Vintage Café, Wuse, Abuja, the late Mrs Sofia Ohaekelem, did not only come as a surprise but for the shocking and overwhelming report linking her beloved husband as the principal suspect and the killer of the successful and warm-hearted entrepreneur.

Mr. Hyginus Odinaka Ohaekelem, who is yet to come out of his shell of grief and mourning over the death of his wife of four years and mother of his two sons, was also faced with the additional encounter of answering questions over the death of his wife to prove his innocence.

Is the death of the late Mrs Sofia Ohaekelem a natural death? Was a crime of culpable homicide established against her husband, Hyginus Odinaka Ohaekelem? Only Police investigations could answer these questions and more.

The husband of the deceased business woman, Odinaka, however revealed to us that his journey to innocence started on October 7, 2021 when he voluntarily reported at the Criminal Investigations Department of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command on invitation to answer to petition against him that he killed his wife with a food poison. He commended the three (3) months rigorous and discrete investigations conducted by the Police and the professionalism displayed by the investigating officers. He said everyone that could be linked to the case was invited and examined and the American embassy was part of the process throughout the period of investigations.

Indications from Police investigations into the case clearly uncovered the cause of death and since exonerated Hyginus Odinaka Ohaekelem of the allegation of having killed his beloved wife. The Police have also released the remains of the late entrepreneur to her husband for her burial.

Now that his innocence is established, would he press charges against his accusers? Mr. Odinaka said, there are persons indicted in the investigations so far that are nowhere to be found. He said he trust that the Police would intensify efforts to arrest these persons and bring the investigations to a logical conclusion.
He further thanked God for saving him and exonerating him from the grievous allegations against him and gave account how the sudden death of his beloved wife would remain indelible in his mind. says it is difficult to bid Sofia his beloved wife, good bye.

Nairaland / General / Breaking News… Amosun Backs Down, Cedes Ogun APC State Chairman To Dapo Abiodu by Princsk1(m): 10:28pm On Feb 02, 2022
Information reaching us from the Ibikunle Amosun's camp indicates that leaders of the group met at Sen. Amosun’s lagos residence on Wednesday, to deliberate on the aborted reconciliation process by the National Reconciliation Committee. They were said to have agreed that it was wise to play on the side of caution so as not to repeat the 2018 quagmire that cost them the party ticket.

A reliable source from the National HQ of APC confirmed that due to INEC deadline for the party to formerly notify the body of its Convention date and to avert further extension of the Caretaker Committee tenure, it was imperative for the party to maintain that status quo ante should be maintained in those states with contentious issues, which include Ogun, Kwara, Kano and others.

In attendance during the meeting were the erstwhile APC Chairman Chief Derin Adebiyi, Chief Ojuko, Alh. Agba and Hon. Adekunle Akinlade the 2019 APM Guber candidate among others. By that directive, Gov. Dapo Abiodun’s chairmanship choice will be sworn in tomorrow at the state chairman.

Meanwhile, fillers in the State suggest that the Amosun camp is sticking to it's guns and are determined never to have anything to do with the Gov. Dapo Abiodun faction who have been in charge since 2018.

Without mincing words, the next three weeks and post National Convention will define the future of APC in Ogun State and the nation at large. It is indeed our hope that Gov. Dapo Abiodun will be able to manage the ephemeral victory.

It is no more a news that the Gov. Dapo Abiodun"s faction represents less than 20% of the State APC party members, despite the huge fortune expended by the Governor to hijack the party from Sen. Amosun’s 22yrs (2000-2022) well greased political machinery across Ogun State and beyond.

Obviously, 2023 will be very interesting for keen political watchers. Analysts are skeptical and reasoned that Gov. Dapo Abiodun should not celebrate too early because such a concession by the Sen. Amosun’s camp might be a Greek gift.

What is clear is that the Amosun's camp will contest the APC governorship primary come August 2022. Game on they say.

Crime / Special Report: Amcon At Efcc: Hobbling The Hunting Dog by Princsk1(m): 6:48pm On Jan 27, 2022
The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) is in hot pursuit of more than N5 trillion Nigeria’s taxpayers’ monies trapped with bad debtors. The Ahmed Kuru-led management has particularly shown courage in leveraging the AMCON’s amended Act to rally all forces against recalcitrant debtors, irrespective of status and societal positions. In this Special Report, Newsclick Nigeria’s Senior Correspondent, Olusegun Kugbayi examines the underlining issues behind the recent invitation of the AMCON Managing Director by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which some Analysts see as a new ploy to distract the Corporation and whittle down its enforcements as the election cycle gathers momentum.

The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) has in recent period shown a renewed agility in its pursuit of recalcitrant bad debtors. The bad debt corporation appears to have found new winning tricks with increasingly successful court cases and orders mandating tracking and seizures of assets of bad debtors. Riding on the back of increased powers and clarity in its amended Act, the bad-debt corporation has upended its assets search, recovery, litigation and management processes, blocking several loopholes previously being used by highly powerful obligors to evade payment of bad debts running into several trillions of naira. The amended laws and improved processes, have resulted in recent huge trough of court orders and seizures. With the humongous amounts and personalities and properties involved, the headline news have added to the discomfiture as the nation is increasingly waking up to the realities of the “big men” and the mess of debts owed the nation, in an era of increasing national borrowing to finance budget deficit.

This was the background to the recent petitions by some powerful fronts to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against the management of AMCON alleging impropriety in the pricing and disposal of assets. The case of Atlantic Asset, which facility led to the collapse of the defunct Skye Bank Plc and loss of investments by shareholders, featured prominently in the petitions. The invitation and questioning of the Managing Director of AMCON, Mr Ahmed Kuru were carefully orchestrated and ‘leaked’ to turn what could have amounted into inter-agency exchange of files, to a headline breaking news couched in semblance of investigation of AMCON and its hard-fighting MD.

Nairaland / General / Pda, A Willing Tetherball !!! by Princsk1(m): 12:17pm On Jan 25, 2022
Recent developments in Prince Dapo Abiodun's faction of the APC calls for great concern by well-meaning stakeholders of the Ogun project. Like the proverbial turtle, PDA is being misled by no other person than Hon. Tunji Egbetokun who, from the inception of the administration in 2019, never hid his preference for Sen. Olamilekan Solomon Adeola's (Yayi) agenda. A very reliable source within their camp claimed that Egbetokun was quoted as saying that his primary business is to make sure that PDA and SIA do not resolve their differences.

They asserted that knowing SIA as a God-fearing man, if PDA were to genuinely approach him and seek his forgiveness, SIA will oblige him. This they believe will automatically end Yayi’s planned incursion into Ogun State political space, so they hatched the plan to continually instigate PDA against SIA by telling their mutual friends and political associates unkind words about his former friend knowing fully well that those words will get back to SIA thus creating further cracks.

Their ultimate plan is to present Sen. Olamilekan Solomon Adeola (Yayi) for Governor in 2023. How they hope to achieve this remains a mystery. After encouraging PDA to throw jabs at SIA during the “legacy” projects' commissioning by Mr. President, they commenced recruitment of party stalwarts across the State for their 2023 "Yayi for Governor" project. When asked what will become of PDA's re-election bid in 2023, Egbetokun was quoted to have said that PDA is a goner because they have enough materials on him for “abuse of office” to force him to step aside quietly whilst paving the way for Yayi in 2023.

The source who attended one of the many meetings in a Lagos hotel was surprised that people who were supposed to be PDA's confidants are the ones scheming to blackmail him. The source further claimed that he met Sen. Olamilekan Solomon Adeola (Yayi), Hon. Tunde Olaotan, Hon. Tunji Egbetokun and others in the hotel trying to convince them that PDA will not contest in 2023.

To this end, PDA should look inward for his enemies because whatever they claim to have on him must be strong, for Yayi to port from Senatorial Aspirant (W to W) to Governor of Ogun State come 2023. This said, PDA should as a matter of urgency make peace with his God and seek forgiveness from SIA. How Egbetokun and Olaotan plan to sell an Ekiti man as Ogun indigene remains a big riddle.

That Egbetokun is a sly, cunning and manipulative character is no news, that he feeds fat on the ambition, greed and ego of our political leaders is also a forgone fact, what is sad is that we continue to create the space for him and his likes to fester. At one time or the other, it was OGD against SIA, then SIA against OGD, now it’s PDA against SIA. It is of note that these three gentlemen were friends at some point but lost themselves to ambition, greed and ego. So like a virus - Covid, Egbetokun simply saw fertile hosts to feed on.

Unfortunately, the ultimate loser in all of this is Ogun Stare. Another character with very questionable past that want to be governor in 2023 at all cost and who is manipulating his closeness to Awujale is Mr. Jimi Lawal. This individual was indicted for embezzlement by a commission of enquiry, he literally killed a bank and ran away. But like others, he got away on technicalities and loopholes in our legal system. H.E Ibori is another character that exploited our legal system but met his Waterloo in the UK. If Mr. Jimi Lawal had committed these offenses in the UK, he would still be cooling his heels in prison, but alas! this is NIGERIA. He too wants to earn his retirement payoff from our collective treasury at 64!.

In reality, it is time PDA settled with SIA and by extension the SIA political family. The likes of Egbetokun and Olaotan must not be allowed to continue feasting on their ego. SIA and PDA should close ranks for the greater good by making sure that the interest of our dear state is put before any other interest. PDA should “clean” up his financial dealings and make sure that funds appropriated are well recorded. As an accountant and Chairman Senate Committee on Finance, Yayi has the resources to dig up any financial dirt on PDA. A word is enough for the wise.

Nairaland / General / 2023: Ogun West And Necessity For Consensus Candidate by Princsk1(m): 8:43am On Jan 15, 2022
Since the creation of Ogun State on 3rd February, 1976, from the defunct Western State, by the Military junta led by the late Murtala Mohammed, power distribution and sharing among the three socio-cultural components of the state have been imbalance against the people of the West, comprising majorly the Yewa, Awori, Egun and other clusters .

The chronicle of political epochs in the Gateway State, specifically democratic administrations indicates a power sharing arithmetic continually domiciled between the East and the Central and perpetually putting the West at bay in the status of second fiddle.

While genuine concerns and efforts of critical political stakeholders in the state and beyond have resulted to various moves towards changing the narrative on the grounds of fairness and equity, several factors within the zone and from outside had prevented it from coming to fruition.

Despite the quality and quantity of human resources from Ogun West and the strategic location of the zone, absence of clarity of purpose and cohesion among the people have been militating against array of efforts to balance the political equation in the State to the advantage of the West.

There is no doubt that many leading political players and thought leaders in the State, especially from the other two Senatorial Districts are being disturbed by their conscience, in the face of seeming political inequality and injustice against Ogun West.

However, no matter the degree of political sympathy and solidarity Ogun West enjoys from other zones and individuals with political influence across the state, there is urgent need for internal resolve among the people of the zone to have a common front towards achieving their goal.

Since politics is all about negotiation through constant consultation and pragmatic engagement, what should be the necessary and urgent next line of action for political gladiators in the Senatorial District now is to commence genuine negotiation and robust consultation within the zone for formidable consensus and further engagement across the state.

Strictly speaking, comprehensive analysis and empirical investigation of events have shown a downward trend in the political debacle in the zone, with the last gubernatorial election of 2019, which indeed signalled hope of imminent accomplishment for Ogun West.

For instance, in 2011, two candidates from Ogun West, namely : Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and General Olurin contested for the governorship seat in the state, in which Olurin came second, losing the election to Ibikunle Amosun with margin of 188,000 votes.

Again in 2015, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and Senator Odunsi, both from the West vied to become governor, eventually, Isiaka lost to Ibikunle Amosun with 100,000 votes.

The 2019 election, where Gboyega Isiaka contested again alongside Hon. Adekunle Akinlade, also from Osun West was a watershed in the political history of the zone, Akinlade, running on a relatively new political party lost the election by a whisker with a tiny margin of 19,000 votes to the Incumbent governor, Dapo Abiodun.

The above chronological index of election cycle in the state clearly indicates a downward trend in the degree of loss against candidates from Ogun West, as a result of increased political engagement across the state and strength of personalities involved. Regrettably, the vicious circle of electoral loss continued due to lack of internal strategy of negotiation and consultation to reach a formidable consensus.

Going forward therefore, the recent political reality in the state has necessitated a conscious rethink and renewed strategy among political gladiators in Ogun West.

Serious negotiation and consultation must commence immediately in the Senatorial District; it is on that note that we want to commend the display of patriotism and maturity by Mr Gboyega Isiaka, who recently announced that he would not be contesting during the 2023 governorship election in the state.

So, from all indications and in line with the present political permutation in the state, all eyes and attentions are in the direction of the last man that springed a surprise in the political space, the man who displayed uncommon political dexterity and sagacity of virile engagement across the state and beyond party lines.

Adekunle Akinlade, the young, dynamic and responsive administrator and politician is the man of the moment and by the preponderance of public opinion across the three Senatorial Districts in the state, Akinlade remains the point of compensation and emancipation for Ogun West.

Aside his impeccable pedigree and impressive academic background, he had carved a niche for himself as a vibrant lawmaker and seasoned administrator with remarkable achievements.

Akinlade, by his unprecedented record at the poll in 2019 has proven beyond any reasonable doubt that he possesses the requisite capacity, acumen and personality to break the age-long jinx of political stagnation in Ogun West and liberate the zone into a new dawn of inclusive governance.

As it stands, every individual from Ogun West, irrespective of party affiliations or geographical location must readily come together in unison and utmost agreement to advance the cause of the zone by supporting Adekunle Akinlade as a consensus candidate for the zone.

It is crystal clear that with Akinlade as a consensus candidate for Ogun West, coupled with the present mood of the state and the sympathy the zone presently enjoys across the state, the coast is clear for victory come 2023.

Nairaland / General / TETFUND Honours Ede Poly On Prudent Utilization Of Funds, Efficient Research D by Princsk1(m): 7:10pm On Jan 13, 2022
The Tertiary Education Trust Fund(TETFUND) has honoured the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, for what it termed frugal management of funds as well as efficient and effective execution of projects.

Nairaland / General / Alleged Confusion In Ede Poly; Figment Of Imagination Of The Writer-management by Princsk1(m): 7:17pm On Dec 26, 2021
The management of Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, has described the alleged confusion in the institution over delay in the payment of salaries as nothing but a sheer figment of imagination of the writer.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the Protocol, Media and Public Relations Officer of the school, Sola Lawal, and made available to newsmen on Sunday.

The statement added that while the delay in the payment of salaries is a general issue among some Federal Government's agencies and parastatals, the management of the institution is therefore working towards providing succour to ameliorate the present condition of staff.

It also stated that the writer is a desperate alarmist who is a former student and notorious of tarnishing the image of the school through unverified and unsubstantiated stories of dangerous negativity .

The statement, therefore, warned the writer and his co-travellers to desist from such shenanigans, adding that failure to put stop to their mischiefs could land them into trouble as necessary legal action would be taken against them.

" On behalf of the Chairman of the Council, Air Cdre Emmanuel Jekada and the Rector, Dr John Adekolawole, we want to state here unequivocally that there is nothing like confusion in our citadel, the atmosphere is calm and under control.

While we consider the reporter of the story as a confusionist himself and wicked alarmist, It is imperative to inform members of the public that the problem of delay in payment of November salary is not peculiar to Ede Poly alone, it cut across various institutions and agencies, as the Management is not unmindful of untold hardship facing by the entire staff of the Polytechnic, especially during this yuletide.

"The Management once again appeal for understanding and want to assure members of staff that the Council Chairman is working assiduously to ensure that the November salary is paid unfailingly as necessary efforts are in place to forestall further delay in salary.

"Once again, we commend the resilience and strong determination of the entire work force for their patience so far, while wishing them a prosperous new year in advance", the statement said.

Nairaland / General / Anambra Apc's Primary Election: A Reflection Of The Man, Dapo Abiodun by Princsk1(m): 10:27am On Dec 23, 2021
A leading Canadian prolific writer and poet, Margaret Atwood, after painstakingly observed performances of stupid people in power and the degree of desperation they displayed in the quest of getting to the position of authority and responsibilities, even with established paucity of knowledge an capacity, then concluded that ''Stupidity is the same as evil, if you judge by the results''.

The pronouncement of the Federal High Court, Abuja on Monday, in which the temple of justice frowned at what it called illegality in the purported conduct of All Progressives Congress, APC's Primary election of June 26, 2021 in Anambra State, which was superintended by the Governor of Ogun State, Mr Dapo Abiodun, was another triumph of light over darkness of electoral fraud of high magnitude in Nigeria.

In the first instance, Dapo Abiodun's Chairmanship of APC Governorship Primary Election Committee for Anambra in the last gubernatorial election came as a signal of an imminent disaster to majority of Ogun State citizens and many alike across the country who are familiar with the Governor and his penchant for illegality and manipulation, coupled with obvious lack of capacity and intellectual strength to undertake complex issues of that nature.

Dapo Abiodun did not disappoint anyone eventually, as there were avalanche of reports of how the Governor assembled like minds in a hotel to negotiate how figures would be manufactured in favour of his preferred candidate with utmost impunity and without recourse to democratic ethos and sanctity of electoral process.

While many looked away, the eloquence of the rest of aspirants in the exercise, who dished out evidence based narratives to substantiate the claim of non-existent primary election in Anambra on June 26 is now being justified by the competent court of law.

The fraudulent pronouncement of 230,000 votes allocated to Andy Uba by Governor Dapo Abiodun in the kangaroo APC primary election, at Golden Tulip Hotel, Agulu Lake, Awka on Sunday, Jun 27, 2021, and the subsequent performance of Uba in the governorship election of November 6, where he struggled to garner just 43,000 votes clearly exposed Governor Dapo Abiodun and his gang on the basis of critical reasoning.

By his nature, the Ogun State Governor is absolutely averse to conventional procedure and decent arrangement; he has been known since the beginning of his career as a man with toga of lopsided and manipulated process.

Dapo Abiodun's educational background is a pointer to the above fact, including his early political expedition and the 2019 gubernatorial election in Ogun State, which is now becoming a reference of regret to majority of his followers and admirers, including those who he co-opted into the gang of obscurantism.

Ogun State has never had it so messy since the inception of her existence, where the helmsman would be a point of disgrace and embarrassment to the revered state of eminent and exemplary personalities.

That this present Governor in the State has brought the greatest odium to our dear State is an understatement, the latest fraud he coordinated in Anambra should serve as a didactic revelation to every conscious Ogun indigene to now understand the nature and orientation of the man in the saddle and come together to rescue the state from the hands of political wolf in democratic regalia.

While we implicitly agree with the thoughts of Atwood that stupidity is akin to evil based on assessment of results on the face value, we want to convincingly add that our assessment of APC Governorship Primary Election in Anambra on June 26 and as pronounced by the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja intrinsically indicated a combination of indolence and kleptomania.

To us, APC's Primary election in Anambra is indeed a reflection of the man, Dapo Abiodun.

Crime / How Popular Thug, Asiri Eniba Allegedly Attacked Gov Oyetola’s Convoy by Princsk1(m): 7:20pm On Jan 20, 2021
There was an alleged faceoff between Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, and a notorious thug, Kazeem Oyewale popularly called, ‘Asiri Eniba’ on Sunday which has caused an uproar in the state.

It was gathered that Asiri Eniba gang members blocked the route of Governor Oyetola’s convoy and engaged his security at old-garage in the evening of Sunday.

An eyewitness told DAILY POST that the gunshot was so much that later forced the convoy to take another route and to save the life of the governor.

It was also gathered that a dispute had ensued on Sunday afternoon between the governor’s security crew and Asiri Eniba at a function which allegedly impelled him to leave the function and to plot the attack when the convoy approached the Old-garage pack, Osogbo.

The thugs also allegedly destroyed the big banners of Gov Oyetola mounted at Old-Garage.

It was gathered that the popular thug, Asiri Eniba, the chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Oroki Branch is one of the leaders of the State Boys.

The notorious group was allegedly empowered by the administration of Rauf Aregbesola who is now the Minister of Interior.

Hence, Asiri Eniba was said to have been enjoying the favour of the present administration since the commencement of Governor Oyetola administration.

The genesis of the feud between Asiri Eniba could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report. But operatives of Amotekun corps have taken over the Old-garage and Ola-Iya motor parks since Monday.

Contacting the Special Adviser to the governor on security, Mrs Abiodun Ige, she denied knowing anything about the attack. She said she was not aware of any attack on the governor.

Ige said, “I was not with the convoy on Sunday, and I am not aware of any faceoff or attack on the governor. You can contact the commander of Amotekun to find out why they blocked the parks.”

Speaking with the Field Commander of Amotekun in the state, Comrade Shittu Amitolu, he told DAILY POST that the corps decision to block the parks was due to intelligence reports gathered that illegal drugs dealings were transpiring inside the commercial motor parks.

Amitolu noted that Amotekun was empowered to fight criminal activities such as illegal drug dealing, cultism and more.

Politics / 2023: Northern Oligarchy Planning To Use Jonathan As Short Bridge: Security Expe by Princsk1(m): 7:19pm On Nov 30, 2020
.says APC came with four legs without head in 2015

A leading security expert and political analyst in Nigeria, Mr Lekan Jackson-Ojo has described the alleged plan to make the former President Goodluck Jonathan stage a comeback to the presidency as a gimmick of the Northern political elite.

He opined that the Northern elite, having realised that the constitution can only allow Jonathan to spend only one term more, decided to use him as a short bridge back to power, adding that such agenda would be at the detriment of the former president .

The security expert made this assertion in a telephone interview with our Correspondent on Monday in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

Jackson-Ojo added that the level of damage the All Progressives Congress, APC, had done to Jonathan in the count down to 2015 general election would not make him sellable again amongst Nigerian electorate.

He explained that in the bid to destroy the then ruling party, the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, the APC succeeded in destroying former President Goodluck Jonathan and terribly defamed his personality.

He said'', The rumour making the round that the former President, Goodluck Jonathan, is planning to come back and complete his second tenure as stipulates by the Nigerian constitution, is nothing but a fallout of the political permutation of the Northern political elites, who are desperately looking for short bridge to come back to power after 2023.

"It is a dangerous dummy the northern oligarchy wants to sell to gullible Nigerians, it is obvious that they don't want a fresh person that will be constitutionally eligible to spend an eighth years of two terms, they don't want a long bridge, they desire short bridge back to power.

"This gimmick could be compared to what happened to Pastor Ize Iyamu of Edo in the recently concluded gubernatorial election in the state. While Oshiomole of APC completely destroyed Iyamu in 2016, and vociferously massacred his character to favour candidate of his party, having realised the political strength of Iyamu as grassroots mobilizer, it became practically impossible for him to sell Iyamu again in 2020.

"In the same vein the present ruling APC, that came to power in 2015 with four legs and no head destroyed Jonathan to hijack the political machinery in 2015, calling him all sorts of names, saying he was corrupt, weak and clueless.

"Sincerely, if former President Goodluck Jonathan falls for this cheap political popularity this time around, he will surely die politically and fail woefully. It will then create the opportunity for the North to scale through on the platform of PDP with their candidate".

Jackson-ojo added that while the North could come together as formidable political front in all the 19 states, including the FCT to support a particular candidate for election into the presidency, the South would be greatly divided amongst itself along ethnic and religious lines .

He stressed that the greatest power of the North is neither intellectual nor economical, but in the unity of purpose and agenda, saying the North could easily mobilise all it's social structures, including the traditional institution to achieve it's political goal.

He continued '', Somebody is trying to contest for the presidency from the South, as we speak, that person can't get any support form Ondo, Oyo, Ekiti and Ogun, and he was said to be nursing ambition to become president, where would that support come from, and definitely, Kwara will go with the North, forget that Yoruba are majority .

"Let me tell you this bitter truth, those who are romancing Jonathan to contest the 2023 presidency are those individuals that are working against Tinubu in the APC, so, Jonathan should be wary of these political gladiators, they can't be trusted in anyway".

Health / 4-month-old Baby, 15 Family Members Contracts Coronavirus by Princsk1(m): 5:41pm On May 16, 2020
...6 health workers test positive

A 4-month-old girl was among the 20 new coronavirus cases recorded in Kaduna State on Friday.

The State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Amina Mohammed-Baloni, in a statement on Saturday, disclosed that 15 of the 20 new cases are family members.

She also explained that six health workers were among the new patients.

The statement said, “A four-month-old girl is regrettably one of the new patients, and investigations indicate that her father has travel history to Kano.

The infant, who had been brought to the hospital for respiratory issues, was tested in accordance with the updated guidelines which advise that persons with such symptoms be tested. Her parents have also been tested and their results are being awaited.

“The 20 new cases are spread across seven local government areas. Chikun has seven (including five members of the same family), Giwa recorded four from the Shika community,"

Also three cases are in Kaduna North. Sabon-Gari and Kaduna South have two cases each, while Igabi and Zaria have one each. Six health workers are among the new cases, underlining the risks associated with containing and managing Covid-19.

The latest cases show that Covid-19 has spread into nine LGAs: Chikun, Igabi, Giwa, Kaduna North, Kaduna South, Makarfi, Sabon-Gari, Soba and Zaria.

In addition she noted that, widening spread of COVID-19 means that the risk of infection has increased for persons who do not stay at home or who fail to observe necessary precautions when they go out.”

The commissioner urged Kaduna residents to observe physical distancing and avoid large gatherings.

She advised Parents to shun non-essential travel or interactions to avoid taking the virus home and infecting their children and loved ones.

“They must also exercise personal responsibility regarding not allowing visitors into their homes. One of the COVID-19 fatalities in the state got infected when he received visitors at home.”

Lastly, The Ministry of Health appeals to all residents to wash their hands regularly with soap and water, wear facemasks if they have compelling reasons to go out, observe physical distancing and avoid large gatherings. Our communities should also continue the public service of reporting suspicious cases in their areas. Stay home, stay safe, save lives”.

Nairaland / General / Uniosun Launches An Online Forecasting Model For COVID-19 by Princsk1(m): 6:47pm On Apr 01, 2020
The Osun State University, Osogbo has launched an online forecasting modelling in other to provide academic thrust to guide the policymakers in the deployment of intervention strategies to combat Coronavirus.

The institution in conjunction with some specialists in the field predicted that COVID-19 confirmed cases could raise to 150 - 158 on the 1st day of April.

Though as at the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, confirmed Twelve new cases of COVID-19; 9 in Osun, 2 in Edo and 1 in Ekiti State which make all the total 151 cases.

The Public Relations Officer of the institution, Ademola Adesoji said the forecast is part of the school contributions to complement the effort of the government in avoiding the spread of Coronavirus disease.

According to him, the online predictive model was developed by Kabir Abdulmajeed, a first-class graduate of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Osun State University and currently a Sensors and Algorithms R&grin Specialist in the Oil and Gas Sector at the United Arab Emirates and facilitated by Monsuru Adeleke, an Associate Professor of Public Health Entomology and Parasitology at the institution.

Ademola stressed that the predictive model is not intended to create panic but to relate possibility of upsurge or decrease in the episodes of COVID-19 on a daily basis as the government makes frantic efforts to control the infection.

“The daily forecast is currently available on the UNIOSUN website and will be updated on a weekly basis.

“This algorithm includes a set of online models, automatically adapting its parameters and updating its predictions by streaming data from reliable information sources on the COVID-19 situation in Nigeria.

“The hope is that we may be able to predict an envelope on the number of cases daily by observing the trend in NCDC's releases.

“Obviously, it is difficult to model Covid-19 (in fact, any real-life scenario is difficult to model) - the number of tests, randomness, interventions, stay-at-home compliance, curfew, epidemiological realities, and many other factors contribute to the difficulty of forecast models in this case. This is for academic purposes.

“Predictive models can help guide our policymakers in the deployment of intervention strategies. This is what we intend to achieve,” he added.
