Ikeja, Surulere, Yaba and environs are some of the choicest places on the mainland because they are close to economic hubs within the state and a short distance to VI and environs where most corporate jobs are situated. Houses appreciate in value, therefore rent will also increase as the value of the house appreciates.
If the old landlord decides to sell the house today, he will sell it at a value higher than that of 20 years ago.

Govt need to create a more viable economic environment and a working wage structure not the death minimum wage we have. For your Information, Canada has raised minimum wage earning to 20 Cad per hour. Some province like Ontario earn more.

Newly built houses can use inflation and cost of building materials as reason for the exhorbitant rent they're collecting but not old houses with no modem facilities nor renovation.

You can't build your house 20yrs+ ago and be claiming same rent rate with newly built houses with modern amenities.

The truth is,if u have money here in Nigeria,u will go a long way in life.

Saving ₦400k monthly from a ₦1m salary should get you a bungalow within 3 years (excluding land).

Saving 1k CAD (Not even possible) from your less than 2k3 CAD (After tax/vat) can't even get you a one bed house in 3 years anywhere in Canada.
