and on her way to see the vet...she made the ultimate mistake.

I read the same story and to further complete the story, the husband never like the dog and claimed the dog was acting funny of late which prompted the vet visit, though I hate blames but never leave an unstable dog unsupervised

the fact that the husband didnt like the dog, the dog would always act funny to him. she said she had left the dog with the kid occasionally. but not in an environmant where there are strangers. its a pity she learnt the hard way, or maybe she would never get the point.

Yet again, another heart breaking story of a K9-Caused death.

I stumbled on this news earlier Today, and it was so heart breaking. Not just the incident, but also the fact that this would make more people see Dogs as wild beasts that kill babies and attack adults.

"Maureen Akowe had every reason to be elated. At 37, she had a baby girl after three years of delayed conception. Little wonder, she christened the baby Chinonso (meaning God is near).
Like most Nigerians who belong to the middle-class, Maureen employed a nanny to help care for her baby, who was already four months old. As expected of any nursing mother, anytime she took her baby out with her, her nanny moved along.
Last Friday in Asaba, the Delta State capital, the nursing mother, who is also a housewife but a graduate of Sociology from the Delta State University, Abraka, decided to get groceries for the family especially her baby, at a nearby supermarket along Okpanam road, Asaba. She took along her baby, her nanny and an Alsatian dog, which was the only pet the family had.
For anyone who loves pets, it is not strange to see them, not only as companions, but as friends in need. Maureen must have loved her dog and decided entrusting the security of both her baby and its nanny in the care of her dog. Maybe she had done that on a number of occasions and nothing negative happened.
On this fateful day when she got to the shopping mall, she pulled over at the car park and left all the occupants of the car, including the dog, to get items inside the mall. For proper ventilation, she wound down the windows of the car and dashed inside.
While she was shopping, sources at the car park said there was a shrill cry from the nanny, who suddenly alighted from the car and ran into the mall shouting, “Madam, baby! Madam, baby!” Panic-stricken passers-by and other shoppers asked what was amiss and she led them to the car.
By then, a motley of crowd had gathered and running towards the car park. The gory sight in the car elicited shouts from them especially the women. Four-month-old Chinonso, had its stomach ripped open with blood splattered on the car seat and the clothes used to wrap it. The dog, on the other hand, stood towering over the baby with blood stains on its mouth!
Taken aback by the crowd, the dog started barking ferociously and wanted to attack. Promptly, two security guards from the mall took the dog and chained it. It still kept barking and tried to scare away any attacker from the crowd.
“Na Madam carry dog put for car and talk say make I stay inside car with dog and baby,” the nanny, who identified herself as Ifeoma Chinedu, quickly told the angry crowd who wanted to know what went wrong inside the car.
“Madam talk say she dey carry dog go veterinary clinic. Na as I sit inside car the dog move close and want to bite Chinonso (baby). I shout when I see say the dog open him mouth. As I shout, the dog no hear me and I come run comot make I go call Madam. But she dey inside supermarket and no hear me. She no come outside here on time,” the nanny, who claimed to hail from one of the eastern states, concluded in tears.
While all these went on, the mother of the baby had arrived and was in tears. Obviously distraught, she rolled on the floor and kept shouting, “Chinonso!Chinonso! Chinonso!” She quickly took her baby and ran. But some sympathizers took hold of her and the baby to avoid running into any oncoming vehicle. They rushed the baby, who was bleeding from the stomach, to a nearby hospital along Nnebisi road.
The baby died before they could get to the hospital.
Meanwhile, the dog was in chains and kept away from the angry mob who wanted to kill it. They alleged witchcraft and that the dog was an evil agent. Read full story here"

Now I ask myself, Why would a dog that has been good to this kid suddenly react?

Dogs are not crazy animals. They react to actions around them and i cannot over-emphasize the need to really learn a lot about dogs before getting one. Also speak with a professional to really know what breed fits your kind of home.

From experience, I came to know that dogs, no matter how they like a person they hate to hear them scream.

Some dogs hate babies scream. The way i see it, the woman left her dog, the maid and her baby in the car. The dog began to bark at strangers and passerby which made the baby scared and started crying. The maid, ignorant of whats going on fled from the car leaving the crying baby in the car. The dog then attacks the crying baby.

It is only ideal to introduce a puppy into a home where there's a baby.This helps strengthen the bond between the duo and avoids cases like this. Keeping an adult dog around a baby without supervision is really not safe.

I sympathize with the family of the Deceased.

I beg to disagree here. Multivitamin is not necessary if the dog is well fed.

How often should you vaccinate your puppy, if puppy keeps scratching/licking its genitals, is this normal?

if this happens once or twice per day, no issues. but if it continues then you might need to visit your vet.

Yes. That. Noticed it for some time. Even saw a drop on her hind legs

probably puppy vaginitis, nothing serious. goes away as the puppy grows. ive seen it on one of my puppies but not anymore

My vet messed up the last time i visited his clinic, i complained about him using the same syringe for every dog that visit his clinic. His response was even people that have bigger and more beautiful dogs dont complain. I just left with my dog and vow not to visit his clinic again

if this is true then change your vet.

let us know your area so we can direct you to a better vet. you cant get the help you need here as it needs physical checkup.
its been days now, stop jeopardizing the life of your pet by waiting for help in cases like this.

I'm saying its rare to get the Infection from the same source. The immune system already has the memory of the virus. It knows what best to do. Now, I'm sure if it's constantly attacked, without immune boosters or antibiotics, the vrus can break the immune system.

Well, artifiaial collostrum is taken from an animal, mostly goats. They also have antibodies that boost the immune system. But there's nothing like the natural mommas milk.

I have completed my first and second vaccine. My vet said its monthly thing and another vet told me its not monthly thing... That all the dog needs is deworming.. I am confused at which of them to believe.

Vaccination I only required thrice, over a period of 3-4weeks interval.

Deworming can be done monthly.

Antirabbies at 6mnths and yearly boosters.

my pup contacted parvo virus at m vet place some months ago. it actually survived, but that period was a very tough and challenging. I'm scared of taking the dog to complete it's vaccines and don't have any other tursted vet around. what can I do?

In cases like this, once a dog has survived parvo it's nearly impossible to get infected by thesame source. So feel free to complete the shots. And ensure you administer antibiotics 3days before and 3days after vaccinating.

It's good for t skin of your dog. Prevents scaling, as seen on this puppy, and improves shiny hair growth. Coconut oil can work as a replacer too.(adin agbon)
