lynx200:
On point @op. Right now I am even thinking of leaving the industry. I am a scriptwriter but most producers do not respect the place of the scriptwriter. There are so many times I have had to walk away from jobs because of the poor pay and working conditions. Many of the so called producers and directors know nothing about the job and some boast openly they can write a script in a day shocked. When you try to correct them they start reminding you that they put the money down for the production. I know of so many good writers who have left and I am working on joining them unless something happens.
lynx200 this is not time to leave. Let us just hope for the best.

I believe something will happen when the writers guild put down structures similar to what is obtainable in WGA.
You don't have to walk away because of these challenges the industry is facing. I believe that with time, good stories will become scarce while old ones would have been overused, then there will be need for more set of new stories that can qualify for the cinemas. That's when the service of really good writers will be needed.
smiley wink

Writers should never complain that their profession is the most abused in the movie industry because that is how it is all over the world. That is how it has always been. Sadly. sad

Things will improve, I believe.

P.S:
I used to watch "Dormitory 8" and whenever it gets to the end credits I'll see your NAME boldly written. Then with bright eyes, I'll tell my cousins "that guy is one of the best writers in Nigeria and he is my friend".

I still believe it all starts with a "good" story. And if it is so, good stories will soon be in high demand if truly the industry is on the verge of Renaissance.

Very valid rants.

Story they say, is King!

The filmmakers just have to trust the script first. wink

Plus production, acting, directing, post-production and marketing need to be addressed too.

Mrs Obong na real mid-day special news caster. grin
Olofofo... who send am message?

As per the script ehn... I still dey laff because I'm still imagining the awkward disappointment on Mrs Obong's face. haha..grin
But Briareos has said well. No more comment.
I know you put that translation there intentionally.tongue It is a temptation many writers try to fight. It is sweet but don't fall for it anymore. Such details can be included with your treatment or characters bible or something like "additional notes" I think.

Nice dramedy.

Nice effect bros! This is the kind of creative thinking that breeds a good FX artist.

My guess is the shot was actually taken from the front (probably help from a friend) , your reflection from your neck down looks photoshopped
There is a guy standing beside him.

The guy is wearing a vest that has a pattern of stars on it.

I think this second guy is with the camera.

Prof!!! Long time, man. Are you on any instant messenger now?

I laughed hard when I saw her reply. The sad truth is that such misunderstanding happens over and over again in real life and has led to many terrible consequences.
Only a certain level of intelligence will look beyond the misunderstanding and "laugh" at it. smiley

The "cinema-going culture" has improved greatly in Nigeria.
And appreciation of Nigerian made films in cinema is gradually becoming encouraging.

Now is the time for IMAX or whoever to come give us more screens.

Is there really any point in studying a course you have no passion for? I know many people do it mostly because all they see is the profit in the long term, but I'm not programmed like that.
m
I need advice, because I'm really unhappy and I might even say depressed anytime I think of this course

*singing Tomorrow from Annie*
I say you go ahead with the course and finish it.

But ensure to always keep track with your passions along the line.

Then you'll win both ways. If you need to use your law degree you'll know by then.

Most of us just go to school to have the papers since our real passions cannot be studied within the four walls of a classroom.

This seems to be your case. So I say go ahead and have fun. Murder the course and have a swell time in school. (follow my signature) wink

I thought you were gonna be a sports journalist or blogger sha. But "writing is also good" especially if it is screenwriting wink.

prof800 wishes you luck.

Come one. the puff adder's venom kills after an average of 2-4 days....that isnnot deadly jorh!!
Ah!
My all time favourite snake!

Very amazing behaviour.
When asleep, you can safely lift it up, put it in a basket and take it home
...provided you don't touch its head or wake it up.
(I've actually seen this happen here in my swampy rain forest).

When awake it is even less aggressive until it feels threatened.

But contrary to what you said, it is deadly. Its mode of attack is to inject multiple venoms and a long bite.
