3 gbosa!!! for you.

But unfortunately, A.M is where most content producers run to in order to earn stipends.

Hopefully there would be better deals for us and more media platforms for a competitive market.

yes and goody-goody. You missed. grin

You know this fact that "tovot" is a palindrome cos it gives the same word when spelt backwards.

Another fact is that "bathtub" is also a palindrome. Spell it backwards you still have "bathtub".

Okay, no it's not but for a seconds there you almost believed me. grin grin grin grin

TV/MoviesRe: Where Or How Can I Get A Good Market For My Screenplay/script? by prof800(m): 8:14am On Mar 06, 2015
Why do producers turn your scripts down?
Could it be that there is something missing in your scripts?
Screenwriting is a profession and there are standards and set rules of writing a movie script. Does your script follow standards and set rules of a normal screenplay in terms of structure?
What is the theme and setting?
Is it a typical Hollywood story or typical Nigerian story.?
Will it cost too much too produce which scares off the producers?
Is your story too macaroni or watery?

Do the producers even know a good story?

These are just a few questions your may want to consider.

Have you ever given your scripts to a friend and received positive feedback?
Have you tried entering your screenplays into screenwriting competitions and festivals?
Have you given one of the scripts to a critic to help you review and give you constructive criticisms.?
Have you posted a sample work or excerpt of your script on an online forum like nairaland.com, indietalk, screenwritinggoldmine etc.. in order to catch the eye of possible buyers/ sponsors.?

These are a few things you might want to consider doing.

I just need to tell you that selling a screenplay is sometimes harder than writing it itself.
It takes patience and luck. I know a writer in Alberta who has been trying to sell his scripts since 2007... and this guy is very good, in fact one of the best writers I have seen. So be patient and hope for the best.

TV/MoviesRe: Opinion: How Comedian A.Y Should Tackle The 30 Days In Atlanta Piracy. by prof800(m): 4:50pm On Mar 05, 2015
Brandnew2:
Now what will salvage the situation since our lawmakers don't seem to be up to the task.

Besides, you are talking about U.S here. They have a well grounded judicial system. You can't compare that to Nigeria where everything goes. As at this moment, it appears to me he has no choice than to negotiate with them @originalsly
I my opinion, he doesn't need to negotiate with anybody.
He should just beat the price down close to how much the pirated copy sells (just as originalsly has said). After all, he has already made so much money from the movie, made a lot of profit in the Box Office. Remember this is currently Nigeria's all time highest grossing movie.

You know people still pirate hollywood and bollywood films but it don't affect the market very significantly.

TV/MoviesRe: Opinion: How Comedian A.Y Should Tackle The 30 Days In Atlanta Piracy. by prof800(m): 3:22pm On Mar 05, 2015
Originalsly:
@OP...there's no table large enough to be sitting down with the pirates. Copying a movie is sooo low cost that anyone can be a pirate. Piracy is controlled by having the movie industry collaborating with the FG to have specific laws ...and having them enforced. E.g....the same piracy was widespread in the US.... movies open in the cinema one day and available on the streets the next....laws were on the books.. movies were seized.... sellers arrested if caught...paid a small fine... and were back in business the following day. New laws were set... piracy became a felony...if caught you face prison time or/and a fine of $250 000. Pirated copyrighted (Hollywood ) movies disappeared from the streets overnight. Are they still available?...yes...but it's like buying cocaine... deep underground...hard to find. If his movie is on the streets then he should release official copies for N500 or even less. People would buy.
This is the post I was waiting for. smiley

Is that figure right? 800,000 just seems totally weird. And later on the article reads... "the Katsina State Youth Empowerment Scheme which has cumulatively graduated over 10,000 Youths across various trades and skills since 2010".

Doesn't look like a Red One @ Prof... looks way too small.
How many youths are in katsina for us to have 800,000? Really weird.

TV/MoviesRe: How Can Someone Promote A 26 Episode Series Movie? by prof800(m): 4:43am On Mar 04, 2015
Aarenga:
My dearest NLs, please, give me advise on how to go about promoting a 26 Episode TV Series Movie. I just shot one (A Yoruba Culture) and need to know how I can promote it and make my money back.
Thanks for your anticipated co-operation in this regard.
Your best bet would be to get it on air. Try a tv station say Orisun.tv on startimes etc. Apply as a content provider and hope for the best.

But if you are the producer then you know you should have a marketing department. Their job is to market and promote the series. So get ready to employ marketers to get the job done for you.
Check with tv series you see on tv, they have marketing departments. Tinsel has, Clinicmatters has, even tejubabyface has. And those are the ones i feel do not even need marketing.

I'm sure you must have a well cut trailer. This should be part of your selling point. Let it be everywhere. Share it on youtube and anywhere. Plus your pilot episode should be very captivating.

Personally I don't think your title "gbomo gbomo" is so catchy, it sounds too generic. (yea, I did some background check on you, sorry).
Going by the title, I would never care to watch this series no matter how much marketing you do to me.

Even if the series is about kidnappers, must it be titled kidnappers.?
There should be something else in the story we call "high points", where a better title could be drawn from.

Think about that. Goodluck.

Folks in the forum. Please I would like to be more acquainted with the name in the subject as above known as "IMDb".
I will be glad that we all learn from it especially those who find knowledge very interesting. Contributions from those that know how it works and one can use and benefit from it is strongly needed. Thanks.
IMDb (International movie database).

http://www.imdb.com/?mode=desktop&ref_=m_ft_dsk

It is a database containing info on all movies, tv series, production houses, actors, actresses, screenwriters, directors, cinematographers, etc.
But it is also a cool movie site/forum. Where viewers can see box office results, latest news in hollywood, movie trailers, fun topics and trivias, as well as view discussions on the message board.
Registered users can rate movies, create topics and participate in discussions on the message boards. etc. Just like other nice forums like nairaland, one can benefit from IMDb particularly in getting to meet people.
You can also create a profile for yourself and your film works (if any) to serve as online resume.

IMDb pro users can have direct access to hollywood producers and actors plus many other goodies.

Tho you might have to "settle" the site to access some of these juicy goodnesses.

That is the little I know.
PoliticsRe: These Are The People Denying Us Of Power Supply by prof800(m): 8:19am On Mar 02, 2015
barristerMDGs:
We can't stop complaining about epileptic power supply because, like the boko haram case, we have insiders denying us of the light.

These are some if my Identified insiders denying us of electricity.

1. POLITICIANS. I remember some times back when I was still in my vlla. We hadly had light 6 hours a day, But Anytime this my villa first son visits, we are sure of 22 hours of light. Its like they are reserving the light for his visit.

2. VIEWING CENTER OPERATORS. This got me thinking whether those operating a football viewing centers are staff of electricity distribution company. Hardly can you see light when there is any foothball match going on just like now. They always switch the light of so you would go and watch the match in a viewing center.

3. Filling Stations and Generator Deallers. These people must be spending heavily on Electricity Distributors to ensure that their stock doesn't stay longer than expected. They are doing a great job in extorting from Nigerians the money they don't have.

4. MULTI-NATIONAL COMPANIES. These people ensure that they receive the larger ration of the unavailabe power suply causing those with less bribe bargaining power to starve of electricity.

5. VANDALS. These are people who discovered a better way of using government property to their profit. What do they need light for when they can out some money into their pocket, courtesy of unprotected NEPA property. They have to make the better choice of risking their lives to extract something from Government
You forgot to mention THE ENGINEERING COMPANIES, particularly those that deal in generator services. Companies such as MIKANO, JOHN HOLTS, JUBAILI BROS etc. ...these are the main culprits but most of us cannot see it.
Believe it or not the government is even partially innocent.
