The key is not the will to win. Everybody has that. It is the will to prepare to win that is important.

To win is the desire of everyone. No one wants to lose. No one wants to fail in any cause. No one wants to write an exam and fail. No one wants to start a business and fail. No one wants to be involved in a competition and fail. No one wants to start a marriage and fail. Everyone wants to win in whatever their hands find doing. Everyone wants to enjoy the sweet taste of success. But winning does not just happen. Winning does not come by luck or chance. There are things to do in order to win and stay winning in any human endeavor. There are procedures to follow. There are principles to adhere to. And there are prices to pay if you really want to enjoy good success.

When we talk about masterstrokes for winning, we are referring to the strategies, the skillful actions and the important things that must be in place in order for one to win and keep winning in life. If you study the life of great achievers in any field of human endeavor, you will discover that there are some vital things, some habits, some character traits and attributes that have made them to climb to the top and achieve peak success. Winning is not the right or privilege of certain people. We are all built and have the capacity to win. But winning can only occur if we activate the masterstrokes for winning. You can win in any field or in any competition you find yourself. You can climb to the top of your career. You can become anything you want to be and your dreams can come through only if you are willing to pay the price or do the things that are required of you. Nothing good comes on a platter of gold. You have to pay the price to win the prize. If not you will end up a looser. No pain no gain.

When you discover and put these masterstrokes to action in your life, you will become a resounding success, a pacesetter, a celebrated achiever and a force to be reckoned with. These masterstrokes of winning will take you to the peak of your career, set you apart from your contemporaries and give you a name and fame. They will take you from obscurity to limelight and make you a toast to your generation. The masterstrokes for winning include the following: Dedication, Determination, Diligence and Sacrifice.

1. Dedication: This is the willingness to give a lot of time and energy to something because it is important. It is a state of being committed to a course. Dedication is the hours you put in when nobody is watching. You can never win in anything, if you are not dedicated to it. If you must win, you have to be sold out to the thing. Your time, energy and resources must go into it. When you are dedicated to a course, you will want to give everything to it. That is what brings true success.

2. Determination: This is a trait of having clearly defined goals and a strong desire with an intent to achieve these goals despite any obstacles and roadblocks you may run into. It is one thing to be dedicated to a cause; it is another thing to be determined to win in that cause. When you are determined, you will refuse to take ‘NO’ for an answer. You will refuse to allow any challenge or obstacle to stop you or discourage you. You will refuse to give up when things are not going as planned. It takes determination to really excel in anything in life because there will be roadblocks and disappointment on the way to the top. So if you really want to be a winner, be ready to be dedicated and have a strong determination to win. Winners are not peopled who never fail, but people who never quit.

3. Diligence: Diligence is the conscientiousness in paying proper attention to a task. It is giving the degree of care required in a given situation. Diligence is working hard and smart. It is taking responsibility in order to achieve a particular goal. If you must win, you must be diligent. You must work harder than the others. You must be ready at all times to pay the price in order to win. Laziness and lackadaisical attitude has never made anyone a winner in life. It is hard work that does. When you see a man who is truly diligent in what he does, he will be honored and celebrated in no longer time. Say no to procrastination. It has never helped anyone to achieve anything good. Do what you are required to do. Do it at the right time and take action for your success. Do not be among those that are cajoled or begged to work. Hard work will take you higher in life and make you win always.

4. Sacrifice: This is a loss or something you give up, usually for the sake of a better cause. It is giving up a pleasure to get a treasure. If you really want to win, you must be willing and ready to give up a lot of things. For an athlete to win in a competition, he must eat the right food and supplement at the right time, focus on functional exercises, drill and include conditioning in his routine. This will involve him sacrificing his time, energy, certain food, and even sleep in order to be in shape. He will have to give up some of those things he truly enjoys doing just because he wants to win. That is sacrifice. This is applicable to every career or cause. If you must win and be the best, you must give up a lot. You must invest in yourself, study hard and work hard. You have to be awake when others are sleeping just to put in more time to your cause. Winning means you are willing to go longer, work harder, and give more than anyone else. Most times, you will have to sacrifice money, sex, food, alcohol etc in order to achieve your goal. At the end, it will be worth it.

Winning takes a lot. It takes dedication, determination, diligence and sacrifice. These are the indisputable masterstrokes for winning. Are you ready to win in life? Then put these masterstrokes to action and you will see yourself flying higher in life.

God created you as a human being with great and amazing potentials. There is so much that is inside of you that you can ever imagine. You can do anything. You can achieve anything. You can become anything. This is because you have unlimited abilities in you. You have all it takes to succeed no matter the circumstances surrounding you. You can achieve greatness because greatness lies inside of you. You are not created to be a failure in life. The reason why people fail is because they have not explored and maximized their potentials. There is so much inside of you to make you succeed in whatever you are called to do. But you cannot really enjoy true success until you begin to maximize your potentials, explore your gifts and talents and put them to use.

Your potential is your inner abilities, strength and capacity to develop into something in the future, to become somebody of worth and to achieve anything you set your heart to. You have inside of you what it takes to become great, to achieve your goals, to make global impact and become a person of great reputation. We all are born with great potentials. There is no one person that has more potential than the other. Our potentials might be different and unique but not better or bigger than any other person’s own. We are all created equal but with different giftings and callings.

When you realize that you have great potentials and put in effort to explore and maximize them, you will be amaze how far, how great and how successful you will become in life. So your duty is to look inward and find out what God has endowed you with. What your talent, strength, giftings and passions are. When you discover all these and focus on developing them inorder to fulfill your calling and destiny, you will become a force to be reckoned with and a celebrated success in your area of calling.

If you don’t work on maximizing your potentials for greater impact, you will not enjoy good success in life. If you see a man that is truly successful in any field of human endeavour, that man has really maximized his potentials. He has horn and developed his gifts and talent and has invested time and resources in developing his craft. When you try to develop your potential, it will make you to discover more and more potentials that lie inside of you. There is so much you can do and achieve. There is actually no limit to what you can become and achieve in life. So do not settle for less. You are not born to be poor, mediocre, wretched, or second class. You are born to be a man of greatness and success. Don’t let someone or the circumstances you find yourself tell you otherwise.

You can unleash your potentials by taking these 5 steps:

1. Set goals for yourself and work towards it: Goal setting is very vital in helping you to make progress in life. Your goal is what you want to achieve in any area of your life. It could be in your career, health, education, relationship or business. When you set goals and work towards achieving it, it will help you to stay focus, achieve greater success and unleash your potentials. When setting goals endeavour to set SMART goals i.e your goals should be Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely.

2. Raise your standards: Once you have set goals and targets that you want to achieve and you are working on them, the next thing to do to unleash your potential is to raise your standards. Once you have gotten to a point in life, you should think of the next point. For example, once you have achieved your goal of getting a first degree, you can start thinking of a second degree. That is raising your standard. If you are a comfortable tenant with no difficulty in paying your rent, you can then raise the standard by making plans to own your own house. In whatever thing you are doing in life, there’s always room for improvement. Find out the next hurdle to overcome. This will help you to unleash your potential until you become very great in life.

3. Believe in yourself: Self confidence is very crucial in unleashing your potential. If you do not believe that you can do something, chances are you will not be able to do it. If you are not confident in your ability to achieve whatever you desire in life, you will not be able to achieve it. You have to trust your ability to do something. You might have tried and experience series of failures. That should not stop you. Failure is your stepping stones to success. Don’t be afraid of failure. They are necessary elements on your way to success. Believe in your abilities, ignore your mistakes and failures, keep trying and success will be yours.

4. Take a step: It is good to set goals, raise your standards and believe in your abilities but if you do not take a step in the direction of where you want to go or what you want to achieve, nothing will happen. Small steps in the right direction will build your momentum to unleash your potentials and achieve greatness. Let your self confidence propel you to take a step of faith even if you do not know what the outcome will become. In so doing, you will be unleashing and maximizing your potential, thereby achieving greatness.

5. Keep learning and investing in yourself: If you want to go faster and higher in life, you have to keep learning and investing in your personal growth. Learn new things about what you are called to do. Read books, attend seminars and workshops. Learn new skills related to your talent and keep refining your talent. Before you know it, you will become a celebrity in whatever field you find yourself. The day you stop learning, you starts dying.
