TAKE A STEP OF FAITH

I want to welcome you to the month of March. The word march means “a movement forward”. It was just like yesterday that we stepped into year 2020. And in a jiffy, we are already in the month of March preparing to wrap up the first quarter of the year. At the beginning of the year, a lot of people usually have big dreams. Some set goals while others write down New Year resolutions. And as the year progress and the days turn into weeks and weeks turn into months, they tend to loose the enthusiasm with which they entered the New Year. When challenges and set-backs start to raise their ugly heads here and there, they tend to slowly let go of their dreams and ambitions. Frustrations and despairs start to set in and before you know it, they are back to their old way of living their lives. They just live their lives to chance and say ‘what will be, will be.’’ The dreams, goals and New Year resolutions gradually fades away.

I want to encourage you today not to give up in the face of daunting challenges and obtacles. You have to make a personal decision to fight for what you believe, fight to see your dreams come through, fight to get the change that you so much desire and fight to make sure that you do not live your life by default but by design. One way to do that is to take a step of faith. Every journey starts with that first step along with the desire to achieve something, even if you can’t totally see it yet. The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are.

What is it that you have decided to do this year and you are yet to do it? Hey bro, get up. This is March. It is time to march (move) forward towards achieving your dreams and goals for this year. Start now by taking that bold and first step in faith. Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase. You want to be gainfully employed this year? Take the step of faith. Start searching for vacancies and start sending applications now. You want to go back to school? Start processing your admission now. You want to get married? Start making the wedding plans and sorting out things with your partner.

Whatever it is that you want to accomplish this year, this is the perfect time to start. It is better to explore life and make mistakes than to play it safe. Mistakes are part of the dues one pays for a full life. Things don’t just happen. Someone has to make them happen. What will be, will not be. It is your responsibility to make them be by taking charge, making the right decisions and taking the step of faith. This is not the time to sit down and watch. Don’t be a spectator in your own life, be a participant and an active player. Decide your fate. Be involved in making your life count. Do what is expected of you. Make the right decisions and implement them and before you know it, all things will fall into the right place to move you from where you are right now to the next and higher level of success.

Just start now by taking the step of faith and you will be glad you did. Start now to write that application letter. Start now to write that proposal. Start now to prepare that business plan. Show up for that interview. Propose to that girl of your dream. Connect with that person for the right purpose. Embark on that journey. Start that project. Don’t wait for everything to be perfect. It will never be. Just take the step of faith and everything will be alright.

At TotalChild Children and Teens Network, we are already making impact with our training program for students on how to prevent child sexual abuse. This program is called CHILDREN AGAINST SEXUAL EXPLOITATION (CASE). The objective of the program is to train students on what child sexual abuse is and how to prevent it.

On Wednesday the 12th of February, 2020, we will be at OLUYOLE GRAMMAR SCHOOL, OLUYOLE, IBADAN to train the students on STRATEGIES FOR PREVENTING CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE. It promises to be an educative, informative and interractive training session for the students. Please check the flier for more details.

If you own a school, run an orphanage or works with children/teenagers in churches, mosques or any institution, we can come and train them on how to prevent child sexual abuse. REMEMBER the more people are informed about child sexual abuse, the fewer victims there will be.
