We were live on Premier Fm (93.5) of Radio Nigeria/Federal Radio Corporation (FRCN) as guest to discuss the issue of child sexual abuse and how to prevent and eradicate it as much as possible. It was very interesting to have the discussion presented in pidgin English with the amazing OAP (Mr Felix). Every child has a right to be free from every form of sexual molestation. That is what we are advocating for at TotalChild Children and Teens Network as a non-governmental organisation (NGO). We want to use this opportunity once again to call on all well meaning Nigerians to use whatever platform they have to spread the message. Every minute a child is being sexually abuse for no fault of theirs. Their life is being destroyed by the same people that should be protecting them. We cannot afford to fold our hands and do nothing. You might not be a victim but somebody you know, even your child (male and female) can be a victim tomorrow. Join us in whatever way to spread this message of #Nochildsexualabuse and God will reward you amazingly. We thank the Manager and OAP at Premier FM, Ibadan for the opportunity given to us to inform thousands of listeners in Ibadan and environs about child sexual abuse and educate them on how to prevent it. Thanks for being a socially responsible radio station. Also I want to thank the team of volunteers at TotalChild for their unwavering support and encouragement. We want to use this opportunity to call for partnership, support and sponsorship to help take this message far and near. The more people are informed about child sexual abuse, the fewer victims there will be. If you are interested in what we do, you can get involved in 3 ways: 1. Volunteer Partner: Join our vibrant team of volunteers to administer support programs to schools and other institutions 2. Resource Partner: Donate academic and other materials to support our cause. 3. Financial Partner: Donate fund to support our high-impact programs and outreaches to reach children and teenagers in schools, orphanage homes and other organisations. WINNING WAYS BY CYRIL ISI SACRIFICING YOUR FUTURE FOR 5 MINUTES PLEASURE “Life presents many choices, the choices we make determine our future.” It is disheartening to see how young people live their lives recklessly without any thought of the consequences their action has on their future. The story of the female student of Babcock University who was videoed in a sexual act, is one that always got me thinking of how morally bankrupt humanity has become. While I am not standing as a judge in her case to condemn her, I just want to pick one or two lessons from her story. What happened to her can happen to anybody. We even have people who do worst things. It’s just unfortunate that her own sex tape was leaked to the public domain and became a subject for discussion. To young people out there, before you do anything, please consider your future. For every decision you make, there is a consequence, good or bad. You should think of how the consequence of your decision will affect your future. When you decide to do things, don’t just consider the immediate gratification but also ponder on the effect it will have on your future. You can decide to start taking hard drugs because of the immediate “feel good” effect it has on you. But what about the damaging effect it will have on you when you become addicted to it? Think about how that decision can ruin your entire life and make you a subject of ridicule. You can decide to have sex and make videos out of the act for your viewing pleasure. But have you thought of the damage that video (sex tape) can cause you when it’s leaked to the public and the whole world start watching you on the internet? Have you considered the damage it will cause to your name, family reputation, the psychological and emotional trauma that will result from it? Most times prevention is better than cure. Don’t do something that your future self will never forgive you for. You can choose to go into stealing and other illegal ways of making quick money (yahoo yahoo inclusive). But have you thought of the consequence of being caught in the act and prosecuted? The number of years you will spend in jail after prosecution? The productive years that will be lost while serving jail terms? The stigma of being called an ex-convict for the rest of your life and the disappointment you will bring to those who love and care about you? Please young people don’t allow five minutes pleasure to ruin your future. Look carefully before you leap. Think before you act. There are somethings you can never erase from your memory. The thought of it can hunt you for the rest of your life. Don’t do anything that will bring shame and reproach to you and your family. Be morally conscious and be responsible for your life. You will not be young forever. Use your youthful age wisely by investing your time and resources in the right things. And do something that your future old self will be proud of when the time comes. Be happy. Be successful. Be YOU. Follow, like and get more at: www.facebook.com/cyrilisimedia facebook | Instagram | Twitter @cyrilisi www.cyrilisiblog. Email: talk2cyrilnow@gmail.com

NO EXCUSES “99% of failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses.” A lot of people have lived an unfulfiled life because of excuses. A lot of people have fallen short of the glory of God for their lives because of excuses that does not hold water. We have people who would have become great in life and make global impact but they allowed excuses to ruin their chances. They have so many excuses why they can do what they ought to do inorder to become who they are ordained to be. Everyone have excuses. But the few that decide to ignore their excuses and take actions irrespective of the challenges that surround them, are the ones that are doing great in life. Excuses will always be there for you, opportunity won’t. If you must succeed and breakthrough in any area of life, you have to put aside the excuses and grab the opportunities. Forget about all the obvious challenges, weakness, disadvantages, criticism and other limiting factors and focus on your strength and abilities with a positive mindset. Then go out there and make something happen. Do that thing you have always wanted to do. Make the mistakes and learn from the process. Then watch as success will come smiling at you. I am one person that has lost so many golden opportunities because of excuses. I always have this feeling that I am not good enough or have what it takes. Once I take a decision to do something that is praise worthy, at the slightest criticism, I will just give up. For years, this plagued and limited me most especially in my calling. Until one day I made a personal decision never to allow excuses to stop me from becoming what God wants me to be. This decision came after I listened to a message by the famous Myles Munroe. After that encounter with Myles Munroe, I took a leap forward, ignoring my weaknesses and lack. Since that time, my life has never remained the same. Every area of my life including my business has experienced progress like I have never had before. Do not let excuses deprive you of your place in destiny. There are many people who are not as good as you are, who cannot even measure up to you, who are not as opportuned as you and who does not have the abilities and skills that you possess. Yet, they are out there fulfiling destiny and making global impact irrespective of their weaknesses and challenges. And you are there making excuses and waiting for everything to be perfect before you launch out into the deep. My dear, everything will never be perfect. Do what you have to do with the little you have and one day providence will smile at you and everything will become good. No more excuses. Attend that training. Marry that woman. Take that job. Write that book. Make that investment. Buy that property. Start that business. And one day, you will be glad you did. Be happy. Be successful. Be YOU. majamajic:I was not abused as a child. I am just an advocate for child right. I am a man that was fortunate not to be abused as a child. I had my own fair share of trauma growing up as a child but it was not sexual abuse. Mine was emotional and physical abuse which resulted in low self esteem that I am still battling with. Pls if you have any experience of child sexual abuse, help share. It will help to create awareness and prevent it. You might just be saving a life by sharing your own experience. |
Today, November 19, is the International Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse. We are calling on parents, teachers, care givers, organizations, government institutions and everyone to please join forces to help prevent child abuse. Children are the heritage of the Lord and they are the future of tomorrow. Let's not abuse them physically, sexually or emotionally. We can have a world that is free from child abuse. Every child has a right to be free from abuse, let's respect that right. Let's help to create awareness about child abuse. The more people are aware about it, the fewer victims there will be. TotalChild Children and Teens Network is dedicated to preventing child abuse. We say no to child abuse in any form. TO KNOW MORE ABOUT CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE, GET THE BOOK: UNDERSTANDING AND PREVENTING CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE. A handbook for young people, parents and professionals working with children. CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE The immediate and long term negative effect of child sexual abuse can never be over emphasized. Everyday we hear news of one horrible story or the other of children and young people been sexually abused. The reported cases on the media are just a small fraction of the numerous cases of child sexual abuse that occur on a daily basis. About one in 10 children will be sexually abused before their 18th birthday. About one in 7 girls and one in 25 boys will be sexually abused before they turn 18. Nearly 70% of all reported sexual assaults occur to children ages 17 and under. This is alarming and not an issue that anyone should turn a blind eye to. The most annoying part of child sexual abuse is that the perpetrators are usually people that are close to the child. About 90% of children who are victims of sexual abuse know their abusers. Only 10% of sexually abused children are abused by a stranger. This even makes it somehow difficult for the child to be protected because you can not really say who the perpetrators might be. Parents, siblings, relatives, neighbour, teacher and friends had been known to perpetrate the crime of child sexual abuse. Because of the magnitude of the problem, it is important for everyone, parents, teachers, care givers and even children and teenagers to not only be aware, but be fully involved in preventing sexual abuse as much as possible. Awareness and prevention skills are vital tools to help fight the crime. And that is why this book was put together. The more people are informed about child sexual abuse, the fewer victims there will be. Please do not say it does not concern you. If you escape it, your child, siblings or relative might not. Help in anyway to create as much awareness as possible. You will be saving a life and a future. WINNING WAYS BY CYRIL ISI TAKE A STEP “You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step” It was rightly said that the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. If you don’t start something, you can never finish it. Every notable achievement in life always starts with a step and gradually progress with consistency to become great. The act of taking the first step is what separates the winners from the losers. Winners will always act in faith and take the first step even when it seems like everything is not okay or the journey will be a tough one. Losers will always chicken out at the thought of starting out. They will keep on procrastinating and procrastinating until they end up not even doing anything again. That’s what makes them losers. Life is a series of steps. Things are done gradually. Once in a while there is a giant step. But most of the time we are taking small seemingly insignificant steps on the stairway. If you want to achieve your goals in life, you must decide on what to do inorder to achieve the goal and start taking steps to accomplish it. Every big goal broken into smaller goals become achievable. There are small steps you have to take consistently to help you achieve what you want. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step. That’s where faith comes in. Faith has to do with you believing that all things are possible. Every journey starts with that first step along with the desire to achieve something. Even if you can’t totally see it yet. Rome like they said was not built in a day. Everything in life has a process. You have to follow the process to achieve what you want. If you don’t want to follow the process and decide to cut corners, you will be doing yourself a great harm. Start now. Take the first step now. No need to delay or procrastinate. If you keep delaying or procrastinating, you will never achieve your dream. Procrastination is the thief of time. Don’t wait for everything to be perfect or to be in place before you make your move. Sometimes you have to step out in faith believing that everything will be okay. When you do, you will be amazed at how things will work out to make you achieve what you want if you do not give you. Take the step today and be celebrated tomorrow. Be happy. Be successful. Be YOU.
