While holding might be good for stability we need a reduced interest rate to stimulate the real economy. I do not know how Ghana have been able to achieve this within a short time but it is something to consider. The real economy is depressed, the average joe is unable to borrow to do business.

I received my PPR on November 7, and I submitted my passport to VFS Lagos on November 10. On November 11, I got a notification that it had been sent out, but since then, I haven't received any updates. Please note that I renewed my passport, so it's different from the one I used to apply. Has anyone else experienced a similar situation?
Did you send a webform about your passport change?

Thanks I wanted to explain that the money was sent to my business acct because that’s the account I used for business deals and use for large sum..
Also since part of the money will be moveable to my personal acct, it will make the VO believe cus they know some pple pay for POF..
If the house was bought personally why send the money to a business account. You may have just complicated things.

Both do not amount to much, it is down to your experience, competence and network.

Who ever mentioned that birthday celebration is a religious event? Celebrations have always been a part of humanity and it has never mattered the reason for celebrating as long as it is civil. The origin of the thought is what is misguided.

Hello all. It's been a long time since I followed this thread (I was very active in 2020). Quick question, does it still apply that once an applicant gets the medical request, their application is likely to be approved? Are there any new developments that contradict this view?
Nothing is certain right now

Thank you.

I am going to contact the school this AM and figure out the payment of his school fees ASAP. I am hoping it's refundable.

About GIC, his sister here in Canada has CIBC, is that whom she needs to contact? Or are there known Canadian banks that do this effortlessly and easy?
Also, his Dad who is sponsoring has a Naira account at Zenith, can he do this wire transfer?

Thanks.
So I will offer you a reliable solution, firstly, all tuitions are refundable if the applicant is unable to secure a visa. The issue with GIC is that our ridiculous banks do not have a way to convert Naira to USD for transactions such as this, usually one will buy inflow from the black market which is quite difficult to explain. I believe some people also use some investment apps. To solve it, he will need a domiciliary account, I will advice opening it with the same Zenith as I’ve used them recently, withdraw Naira, buy USD and deposit as cash in his name, he should also keep the teller as proof.

With this he can Initiate the first tranche of GIC, the single limit with our banks is $10k USD a day so the GIC amount must match $10k USD. After this is received by CIBC there will be an option to add deposit, he can then proceed to initiate the second tranche to make up the total required for living expenses.

A second way is to send you the Naira and do a gift deed covering that amount and stating it is for your child’s living expenses. Then use an app like CAD Remit or Lemfi to transfer all the sum into your Canadian account then add the bank statement after it reflects as proof of funds. It gives the visa officer comfort that the funds are genuine.

Thank you.

1. I have requested for this and will get it tomorrow. Hope this one page MyBankStatement Ticket is verifiable in Canada?

2. If we pay the fees, is it refundable if he doesn't get the visa?

3. How can I register for GIC. What's the best way. Can I tell him to send me the money in Canada and I fund the GIC here or must they show a direct trail from Naija account to GIC Bank?

I am asking because I presume the bank transfer from Zenith to a GIC would take time and we quickly want to reapply for January start.

Thanks and appreciate your responses.
Don’t make a simple situation look complex and if I was the visa officer I would have denied you too because the submission was clumsy. Here are my reasons:
1. Inability to submit a legible statement, compression will make it blurred, deterring the officer from making an informed decision. Solution is to use mybankstatement
2. If you have that sufficient cash as indicated in the account statement, nothing should hinder you from paying at least one year school fees and a GIC. To address this, pay one year fees then let your spouse Open a GIC with the student’s details but fund it on his/her behalf using a wire transfer and should show the transaction trail though.

The visa will be granted most likely if addressed in this manner.

Hi, Gurus in the house. I need an insight in a mistake I made in my application. I am a first time applicant and I got admission to Niagara college for January resumption date. The day I filled my study permit, I was asked for ULI number for institution and checked my admission letter but couldn't find it. Unknown to me me it was on another page of notice of work permit (it's a co-op program). I browsed it and saw the the institution had 2 ULI numbers and picked the wrong one. Last week I got a mail from the campus to that ULI of Niagara college Toronto informing me that they dont have record of them offering admission and the likely think it's Niagara college canada and I should let IRCC know there is a mix up. Yesterday IRCC sends me a mail to respond why the institution they contacted can't verify my admission which I was expecting. I need to know how to couch my reply that makes them understand it was an oversight from my part. I have 7 days to respond.
You have been quoting ULI, I hope you don’t make any future errors. It’s important to be thorough in applications.

Good morning great people....

Most of the courses i picked indicates NO PGWP even though the program takes 2years.

Does this mean i dont qualify for Pgwp after the program or i have to do the process by myself.
Yes, many courses no longer qualify for PGWP regardless of the duration.

Hi,

Congratulations on your son’s successful application.

Can you please tell me what form of POF you presented?

Looking to apply for my sister with a $100k bank draft from Canada as the sponsor. The last friend I know that used a bank draft was unsuccessful.

Can you please give me details on POF and home ties that you used?
Why bank draft?

My partner is in US (different race), we not legally married yet which I believe will be tough for her to stand as my sponsor, and she do travel to Canada for official purpose. So we planned on investing the money in CIBC for my living expenses and part of my tuition fee as I will be paying the initial deposit from here.
She can’t open a GIC for you. GIC can only be in your name and the funds must the wired from your account.

Hehehehe, he said almost. I think there is a conscious effort to reverse that trajectory. Should international students admission had progressed in the 2022-2024 manner, it would have become inevitable for Canada to become New Mumbai.

Thank you very much for this advice. Since many people have warned me about this I have decided to wait. The problem is that there are no 2-year courses available for Winter, except for few that are not available to. If I choose a 2-year course, I will have to defer again until September. I emailed the school yesterday to inform them that I will wait for my preferred 2-year course. What skills can I learn that will be beneficial while I wait for about 9 months before starting?
Learn French

It’s not that bad.
Do you know approximately how long it takes to get approval after the medical test?
It is that bad oh, trust me. There are several people I advised against this but they seemed to have other ideas about how immigration works, they are all out of status now. To your question, there is no fixed time for decision making but usually within two weeks you should get a decision

Good evening all.
Initially, I was admitted to a 2-year program starting September 2025 but deferred to January 2026 due to unforeseen circumstances. Now my program is only available in September, so I took a one-year PG certificate with no co-op and 1 year pgwp. My concern is whether I can find a job within dat year, especially since I hear it's hard to get work in Ontario. For those who experienced this, what advice do you have? How did you find a job quickly after graduation? One year fees was before I deferred.
Avoid a one year program like a plague, it passes faster than you can imagine.

PENGASSAN are quick to cite "laws of the country" which they themselves blatantly flout at every given opportunity.

The "laws of the country" which they cite talks about "freedom of association" but, PENGASSAN is making belonging to an association "compulsory".

So, who's disobeying the "laws of the land" when all workers are being constrained into belonging to a union by force?

Where, therefore, is the "freedom of association"?

The Industrial Court and, indeed, the Supreme Court needs to clarify this burning issue if a stop is to be put to the excesses of PENGASSAN and her affiliates.

@hotseat
Let me try to explain this to you like someone who failed WAEC. PENGASSAN did not coerce Dangote Refinery employees to join its Union. The employees willingly and overwhelmingly joined the Union. Upon hearing that its employees have joined the Union, after verifying all those that joined, they were sacked! Over 700 Nigerians sacked and you are here rationalizing.

PENGASSAN is the arms wing of the petroleum industry cabal. There should be reasonable excuse for industrial action not because a private company decided to restructure only for you guys to shot down IOC and others that has nothing to do with the decision of Dangote refinery.
Probably PENGASSAN is also just restructuring.

Dangote Refinery should stop preaching to us. We can import refined oil from Libya if necessary. He cannot hold us to ransom with his claim of strategic asset that wants to be unlawful. In his dreams!
Well said, we can import fuel even cheaper from other African countries. All of a sudden Dangote loves Nigerians after he has used monopoly to kill other companies and pay Nigerians peanuts for the work they do.
PoliticsRe: Dangote Slams PENGASSAN Over Disruption Move by Profgordons(m): 6:27am On Sep 28, 2025
Dangote is an over pampered aristocrat, the composition of the refinery’s management shows he is likely just a pawn. The refinery is quite likely owned by Indian entities.
