Nicole2024: Hello all,
Please i’m 25, single, no sibling in Canada and currently have up to 3 years work experience with a Bsc in mass communication. Heard about the express entry program and I'm thinking of entering the pool this year and plan to take IELTS in April. I'm also taking the BCS IT certification later in the year so I can get more points with two or more certificates
However, my work experience is divided across different fields: 10 months in digital & content marketing during NYSC (ICT company) and 2+ years in product management at a fin-tech
Although, i’m planning to use product management as my primary NOC (21221). I'm concerned that my NYSC experience wont count to help me reach the 3yrs requirements as it’s in a different field.
Apart from a masters which is not feasible right now. What do you advise to get more points? Thanks everyone 🙏🏾 I understand your dilemma about your NYSC, you can claim full one year for it. Explain the first month was orientation and the last month was statutory earned leave. That gives you your full one year |

Faratioluwa: Now, I understand. Thank you so much.
So all I have to do is wait? It won’t be nice of me to just say yes, however, I do not want to take over the paid job of your lawyer. But in the spirit of a really supportive thread, there is more to Express Entry than just being in the pool. There are many questions to ask like, your current scores, your profession, do you need an added certificate, do you even have your profile login details, etc… |

Rukevwe999: OK perhaps I was generalising. To talk about Nigeria sometimes you have to be specific about what part of Nigeria you're referring to, eg North, west or South. But in our modern age culture spreads, and by culture I don't mean the ones passed on to us by ancestors, I mean certain environments, social norms and values that make up these cultures. Sometimes to understand a culture we have to understand the mindset and values of the society practicing it. There are certain trends and way of behavior and mindset you'll see among different citizens of the country, and some of them are not good. For example we have a materialistic culture, our societies have a damn obsession for money and prestige. We are so easy to bribe and emotionally sway with money. In the south we love enjoyment, sex and splendor, this desire combined with poverty triggers our endless love for money. Even our love for God is connected to money and materialism. I've observed that in societies where piety and simple living is not recognized, money becomes a god, and thus poverty prevails, and corruption thrives where there is poverty. Haven't you ever wondered why in poor environments songs about money and sex sells well? I am struggling to find your values here that wants to make you stay. |

Faratioluwa: Hello everyone, please can someone explain what this info means. My aunt lives in Ontario, Canada and she already got a lawyer there to work on my express entry progress but the man is just weird. He sent me this document and said I'm already in the pool and I should wait for either an employer to pick me from the pool or for a province to nominate me but from what I'm seeing I'm not eligible for Provincial nomination. When he sent the document, I told him I didn't fully understand and he said I should read it till I understand because he's not going to spoon-feed me. Someone should please help me. Firstly I think his comment is unfair, by you needing a lawyer to put in an Express Entry application for you, he should have known you would requiring a bit of spoon feeding through this process. Assuming your profile is what he has sent in the screen shot, yes you have an active Express Entry Profile with an associated score and you await the day your points will fall within the group of those who will be called for application. However, while waiting, it is not an uncommon occurrence for provinces to show interest in your profile if you have certain qualities that meets their criteria at that time. When and if they do, they will request you to put in a formal application to the particular province. The reason they are interested in you will also be stated. I hope this helps. |

sukkot: it’s common sense na. 25 million Naira is like 13000 pounds. The average British person does not have up to 1000 pounds in their aza. So you spend 13500 pounds to relocate to a place where the average person does not have 1000 in aza. Is that not the definition of madness 😆😆😆😆 Not having 1000 in his/her/two spirit’s aza doesn’t mean that’s all the individual’s net worth, think about it in a broader context. There are many reasons he/she/two spirit doesn’t need cash |

Rukevwe999: One reason I don't have an enthusiasm to japa at the moment is because of my personal values and my view of life, work, and the world. If i want to japa, i do so because there things about the country i personally admire about the place I'm immigrating to, like language and culture, and suits my person. I don't believe in migrating out of the country for survival means except in periods of political insurgency, war, and natural disaster.
Everywhere is fukked, there's no Utopia anywhere, even in the so called USA and Canada where people see as heaven, unspeakable things happen to people over there. You'll go online and see their citizens complaining bitterly about the state of their nation. Some Americans even believe that there is an incoming civil war and advice leaving the country. When you look at all the paranoia in the West it makes you ponder. You look at Nigeria despite how messed up the system is, we're still better than many countries in the world - by a far margin.
I believe in living life with meaning and purpose, if you can't live a meaningful life in Nigeria, you can't have one in another land which has a different culture. If you go to a "greener pasture" with the purpose of mere survival soon it would turn brown. Nigeria can be fixed, every great nation has had it's fair share of bad leaders and economic meltdown, and they fixed it. Nigeria can be fixed. I believe that many problems in Nigeria are interpersonal and has it's roots in our culture and family systems . If I may ask, what is Nigerian culture? |

I can only encourage anyone who can afford it because you'll get yourself sorted in the UK after 5-6 years and begin a fresh new life with great future.
Free school fees for your kids up to University level and you can pay your debt back in Nigeria within two years with interest.
What of free NHS healthcare It's unquantifiable !! Get sick in Nigeria and you're a gonna 😧
So, why would someone decide to hope for uncertain future in Nigeria if you can raise such money Well said, also to add, many people who struggle in Nigeria still struggle abroad. Sometimes it is not about the society but your individual skills. |

Centerpoint: Please I need with this because I'm very confused
This refers to your Canadian Work Permit application. I have reviewed your application and documents you submitted in its support. Subsection 11(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act provides that a foreign national must, before entering Canada, apply to an officer for a visa or any other document required by the Regulations. The visa or document shall be issued if, following an examination, the officer is satisfied that the foreign national is not inadmissible and meets the requirements of this Act. I have concerns that you do not meet the requirement put upon you by subsection 16(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA), which states: 16(1) A person who makes an application must answer truthfully all questions put to them for the purpose of the examination and must produce a visa and all relevant evidence and documents that the officer reasonably requires. I have additional concerns that you may be inadmissible under subsection 40(1) of IRPA, which states: 40(1) A permanent resident or a foreign national is inadmissible for misrepresentation (a) for directly or indirectly misrepresenting or withholding material facts relating to a relevant matter that induces or could induce an error in the administration of this Act. Specifically, I have concerns that you owe $100.00 to the crown How did you pay the application fee? |

phabulous88: PPR and LANDING GIST
Timeline AOR: 4th August 2023 BIL/MEP: 25th August 2023 Biometrics done/updated: 29th August 2023 ADR1 – Wife's passport ADR2 – Schedule A for wife ADR3 – Schedule A for me PPR: 12th October 2023
The Decision to Travel:
I first heard about Express Entry in 2015 but didn't pay close attention to it at the time. Many of my close friends eventually moved through this program. However by end of September 2020, when EndSars protest was beginning to gain momentum, we knew we had to leave the country.
- 1st October 2020: Applied for WES ECA for my MSc. - 28th October 2020: Received ECA results. - 31st October 2020: Took my first IELTS (LRWS/8,8.5,6.5,7). I applied for a remark on my Writing, and it was adjusted to 8,8.5,7,7, with an overall score of 7.5. - January 2021: Wife (@Phabulous93) took her first IELTS (LRWS/9,8.5,8,7.5), scoring 8.5. wife’s ECA was by CES, and her LLB was evaluated as a Professional degree. This took about 6 months. - My wife's CRS score was 484, and mine was 455, so she stood a better chance. - October 2022: I wrote my second IELTS with an overall score of 8.0. - December 2022: My wife took her second IELTS, scoring an overall 8.5.
HEARTBREAK
- We remained at a CRS score of 484 for almost 2 years, and on my wife’s birthday in March 2023, IRCC decided to draw 484. Unfortunately, she lost 5 points on her birthday and she wasn't selected. - My wife was heartbroken, but as I consoled her, our son walked in and started singing Nathaniel Bassey's song, "You are God from beginning to the end, There's no place for argument, You are God all by yourself...".
TEF in 4 months!
- In January 2023, my wife started practicing with Doulingo, just in case we needed French - After loosing 5 points and missing out on the ITA in March 2023, she made the courageous decision to learn French formally and dedicated herself to studying day and night. At a point, she had like 2 French tutors. - Mind you, she was still working full time. We practiced speaking French together, and I even downloaded various French translators so I could practice speacking with her. - I gingered her to write the TEF exam in June (3 months after she lost 5 points), but she was like, the average time to learn French and pass the TEF is between 9 – 12 months. - And I was like, I know. Just see the TEF in June as a mock exam so you get familiar with how the exam is… - So we registered for it and she wrote the French exam on 15th June 2023, and the results came out on 20th June 2023, less than 1 week later, and we received an extra 10 points. - Sharperly, I updated our profile, and the score jumped from 479 to 489. - One week later, we received an ITA (cutoff was 486).
Ah! Baba God o! Thank you.
eAPR - In putting together our application, we ensured that it was thorough and included a letter of explanation for pretty much everything. - Our Proof of Funds (POF) was 100% ready since October 2023. However, due to the Naira devaluation in June 2023 (all thanks to Tinubu and the CBN), we had to get a Gift deed to complete our POF. - We also included 25% of my Pension as a buffer in case the Naira depreciated further.
Additional Document Requests:
- ADR 2 & ADR 3 (Schedule A IMM 5669): I'm not sure why they requested these, but I suppose it's because my wife worked with a Local Government during her NYSC, and the word "Government" might trigger additional scrutiny. - My wife and I are both Directors and Shareholders of several small companies. We had to provide a separate letter of explanation, clarifying that these companies were part-time and did not interfere with our full-time jobs.
LANDING
- Booked Egyptair and landed Toronto 7am last week. Before 9:00am, the I heard those beautiful words, "Congratulations! And welcome to Canada!" - We were heading to Calgary, and had a 9 hour layover in Toronto. So we used the time to sort out our SIN, Sim cards (Fido offered us a $35, 50GB plan) and our bank account (CIBC).
Finally guys, if you can, please learn French o! It's not easy but if you can, abeg write it. If we didn't write French, we will still be at 479, hoping and praying that the cut off points drop. But here we are, living in the beautiful city of Calgary as Permanent Residents.
Ah! Baba God! Na you do this one o! Thank you Jesus! Merci beaucoup wifey @Phabulous93, Que Dieu vous bénisse. Amen

MrBnet: Hello Gurus,
I received an ITA in the last STEM draw, just a month after submitting my application.
Here's my dilemma: my Naira account, where I've been receiving my salary for the past six months, doesn't have enough to cover the POF. I'm considering liquidating my stocks in Bamboo and transferring the amount to my account. Alongside, I plan to attach a Letter of Explanation (LOE) to account for this large deposit.
However, my agent is advising against this move, suggesting instead that I open an investment account and deposit the funds there. This approach is quite new to me.
I would greatly appreciate any insights or advice on this matter. Has anyone had a similar experience or suggestions? Do exactly as you plan to do. Also I have no idea why you need an agent considering the wealth of resources here. |
