To the prayers, I say AMEN. |
At this crucial situation we presently find this God blessed country, Nigeria, a prayer was written by a Nigerian poet for the good citizens to say. Please find the prayer verses below: On the shallow ground upon the rock, it was planted Though the roots quickly spread, the leaves were flaccid And if it manage to fruit, it has no place in the basket Yet with much daily labour, it has not reach the market Then the question arise, why some were planted in the bucket And others in the garden, with much fruits for the market Though with our eyes we watch the Sanctity lost And with the dignitaries, oppression lyrics sung With much bitterness, some oppressed enters the morgue Others bask in the euphoria of faith, hoping for a luck Though lightning of doubt struck as each year clocks We seem to be in the dark, been held-on by force Each time we make plans on taking laws into our hands We are cornered by the powers, being so covered all around And when negotiations we called for, even in the town Showers of sweet words rained from their mouth Even in the law court where the judge is found The hope of the common man is trampled upon And now that it seems all hope is lost, We turn our faces up, looking unto the Lord Crying out our minds in prayers, word by word Oh Lord our heavenly father, save our course Redeem this land of ours from every evil curse And make Her a joy to behold, even across the world To your withered strength, my nation, arise I pray And to the poor economy, arise and shine To your lost glory among nations, return and shine To the voice of the oppressors, be silent in shame For the Lord Almighty shall lift up your horn in fame And across all your borders, true peace shall reign For sweet songs of love, in you shall be heard With free and quality education, even for the lad The dwellings of the rich and the poor shall no more be far Cries of unemployment shall be of the past For no more rulers we’ll have, but leaders with a heart To drive the nation with love and peace, together in a cart And so we say a prayer for the Nation!
