Politics › Re: EndSARS: "Activists" Demand That Lagos Must Not Be Burnt Down Again (Photos). by Proflere: 6:59am On Oct 18, 2021 |
SmartPolician: Lagos State encourages and harbours touts more than any state in Nigeria. As a result, there is a large number of people who are willing to key into any protests to loot and destroy things. It's a good thing to remember those who lost their lives during the EndSARS protest.
However, this must NOT be done with another protest. It could be in a square (TBS), big hall or online. I can imagine how much that protest that was hijacked by jobless hoodlums cost Lagos State and other states in Nigeria. Protests are good but we must NOT destroy the little progress we have achieved over six decades.
In fact, the military should be deployed in strategic places across Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole. When these senseless protesters see battle-ready soldiers, no be person go tell them to go back.
People are only interested in protests, but nobody asks how those whose businesses were senselessly destroyed (or means of livelihood ruined) are faring. Many of you are not still getting the point. Is it the right of the citizens to protest peacefully? Yes it is. Is it the right of the government to provide security? Yes it is. Now the government failed, instead they were deploying thugs in SUVs to go disrupt peaceful protest which doesn't make sense in any way. No protester with playcard will dare a uniform man with gun. Lagos state was burnt down because the government failed in it's duty to protect lives and properties. Now I expect the government to be strategic in dealing with protests henceforth, not just by intimidating people telling them there must not be protest. These guys wanted to use a hall for the remembrance and they were able to secure one, only for the owner to say no later after they were threatened. Of course aftermath of riot will hit the citizens the more than the government, but a sensible government should prevent such riot systematically and not by clamping down on people's right. Nevertheless, if the government is not ready to protect protesters, I think everyone should just take fate and allow things slide.... We will be free from this wickedness one day. |

Mine too was last month, traveling from Lagos to Abuja for a tax investigation only to be robbed at ikeja under bridge. My boss had left me on the Job totally as she was tryna see if I was capable, therefore most of the documents were in my System (Lenovo Yoga). My Laptop bag was taken with everything inside of it. Luckily for my my phone was inside my pocket so I was able to call my mama and my boss who both gave me courage that I should not panic. The first five minute after the robbery, I cried a very sincere cry in a long time. I was about becoming the first person to board an aircraft in my family ( at least that I know of) only for this to happen at an unexpected time and that was the reason for my tears. My boss was to go with me ofcourse, so immediately I called her, she went back home to pick her own laptop and joined me at the Airport. I got to the airport and spoke to the attendants, they told me to just show them soft copies of my documents, which I did and they allow me board. I got to Firs Abj, downloaded some documents from my mail and I was able to defend the client beyond expectation. Two weeks later I was back in Abj for the final reconciliation with my boss and the exercise would go on to be one of the most successful and the fastest the firm ever recorded.
I came back to Lagos after the robbery and went to Ikeja police station only for them to ask me to bring 30k for police report. Even after proving to them that my uncle is an ASP, they still collected 10k from me.
Above all, I give glory to God who didn't allow Satan spoil my joy. Hallelujah!! |

Boss, closing down the BDCs is a smart move with evil intention. Emefiele is aware that banks make their highest profit by selling to these BDCs and he didn't put anything in place to check the greediness of these bankers. BDCs are still in business and they get Fx from banks at a higher rate, that is why the parallel rates are very high too. Emefiele should checkmate these bankers and see how things will workout. Buhari is not reversing the policy because his brothers are not yet really affected, rather they are still in business with higher profits. By the time they are totally shutdown you will see how the northerners will start boiling. Faiththatworks: Mr Emefiele should do the needful and declare bureau d change as an illegal business. Anyone buying or selling forex outside the banks should be treated as a criminal. To all.those who have made their mind to always criticize Me Emefiele can you please allow the man breathe. This crazy parallel illegality was established by Gen Babaginda to siphon money out of Nigeria, and closing it down will take some time and balls from any CBN governor. We all need to support the CBN governor as he cleans the Agusean stable. Currency speculation,Currency trading must be declared an economic crime and anyone caught doing it must be sent to jail. The CBN governor declared only banks will sell forex in Nigeria some months ago and the heavens didn't fall, even to my suprise,Gen Buhari didn't reverse the decision, that shows the Governor was right in his decision. For those who are trying to beat the system by using illegal visas to purchase forex,Mr Emefiele must force the embassies to open an hotline or a web portal where the banks can confirm people's visa before selling forex, anyone caught using fake visas to buy forex should be treated as a scapegoat, and charged with currency speculation and fraud. God bless Nigeria. |

You all talking about Owanbe party tax have not thought of how that will lead to double taxation. Each and every item used in most Owanbe parties are already taxed, why should there be a separate Tax again. 50% of every party cost most times is on feeding and entertainment. Food items are exempted from VAT, but then other ingredients would have already include VAT in their prices, a state like Lagos will still charge Consumption Tax at 5% which would have been part of Hall rented for such parties. If we calm down and do the analysis properly, you will know that more taxes are generated from Owanbe parties than religious organizations in Nigeria, even though the latter make more money Canvass: I absolutely subscribe to your brilliant points, especially that Owambe own. All those 'Ijebu' men that places premium on grand parties over more important things and all those claiming 'big-for-nothing' must get sense by force.
Only that the same politicians putting the laws in place would be the first to circumvent those laws. Such a sad country. |
Politics › Re: VAT Collection: Appeal Court Orders Rivers, Lagos To Maintain Status Quo by Proflere: 8:34pm On Sep 10, 2021 |
I stopped reading where you said Oil contribute less than 10% of the GDP... Lol, you from Ghana? Ibkhaleel001: LET US VOMIT OUT THE SOUTHERN HOOK, LINE AND SINKER
Northern Nigeria has more graduates and Professors than South Africa. The real problem is not as Southerners paint it and you echo it like empty halls.
Practically, millions of Northerners are either unemployed, misemployed, or underemployed. Our problem is our chances are blocked and our resources dominated by Southerners who paint the wrong picture for fools to believe them.
75% of government spending is connered by Southerners via the domination of salary earning, contracts, projects, bail outs and other interventions. Trade and industries are dominated by Southerners who have easy access to multi billion credit facilities courtesy their domination of state financial structure and instruments and institutions.
Every ministry is dominated by them. All our markets are monopolized by them due to their control of capital that enable them to finance business and take more risk due to ease of acces to money. They conrol their markets by regular disruptuons of our businesses officially and by direct frequent violence unofficially. Their control of and easy access to liquidity enable them to be more enerprising business wise. They buy our goods cheap and sell theirs exorbitantly.
To preserve the exploitative status quo they spread false verson of the reality. They centralize oil as the main source of wealth so that our attention will be far away from other sources of wealth they dominate.
Oil is less than 10% of Nigeria's GDP. They tell us we are the parasite and we are lazy and we are uneducated to instil a sense of guilt, self hate and inadequacy in us. We swallow all these falsehood uncritcally because we made our source of daily information their media and books. They over concentrate on our weaknesses and ignore almost completely their own weaknesses. An average Southerner having mild cold will almost by default blame it on Northerners and will not lack northerners who "speak the truth" to agree with him.
How can uneducated people have multitude of unemployed graduates? How can lazy people be producig the food of the nation? Why do millions of Southerners troop to the poor parasitic North and refuse leave? The south said so and it is?
What we need is a political economic solution. We must take control of our local markets, our institutions and our businesses in their land must be given due attention and protection and any act of disruption by way of constant destruction must be paid back in due measure without listening to their victimship outcries. They fear separation more than us because their weak economic foundation, especially the west entirely dependent on controlling government resources.
We must ask and take our fair share of every government employment at whatever cost. No people has ever prospered when their resources, oppurtunities and chances are blocked and dominated by others. Our constant preachment of peace must stop: justice and and equity must be our new slagon.
The real problem is believing in the propaganda of the enemies which saps our resourcefulness and infuse our senses with feelings of backwardness that really do not exist, or are caused by false perception. The greatest defeat one can suffer is to see oneself as projected by one's enemies.
Almajiri is system suffocated by lack of finance. Poverty is a direct result of economic domination and exclusion. Degrees are not unavailable. Marrying four wives will not stop as it is never a problem but a great social system. Once we assert control on what is rightly ours, that self concious timidity will evaporate and be replaced by confidence and bold enterprise. Up to the Seventies we were the richest people in Africa. As the central government grows and takes control of resources our wealth progressively dwindles. As the southerners intensify drums of hate and aggression we draw back to give peace, that is never forthcoming, a chance.
Try asking for propotionate representation in all government employment in all institutions and at all levels, they will cry out about mediocrity supplanting merit as if those half literates southerners dominating the place are Einstein incanates. Or they will blackmail you with Islamization.
Try treating their traders in our markets as they treat ours and they will cry xenophobia as if the regular denial of market space, heavy taxation, constant disruption of business and officially sanctioned harrassment of our traders in their land does not exist.
Try replacing Southern union leaders and foreign sponsored NGOs operating in the North with our own people and they will start wailing about marginalization.
Well, their era of dominance and false propaganda is coming to an end with the coming of age of young northerners who could no longer accept marginalization because of blackmail or threat. These new bold Northern youth have seen how southerners cowered when asked to leave the North two years ago. Their cries for secession are empty ruse.
We will be better off without them and they will definitely be worse off without us. They know we lack nothing, while their millions selling substandard, fake good, drugs and inrdinately high interest bank loans fleecing the north and feeding on cheap food and services will have nothing on returning back home. Their franchise firms and industries will lose over 100 million costumers overnight which is more than their home market demand.
Soon we will ask for equity or call it quit. We know who we are and we know our strength. |
Politics › Re: VAT Amendments: NBA, SANs Caution NASS, Fault FIRS Planned Revenue Court by Proflere: 6:29am On Sep 10, 2021 |
If you say people clamouring for state to collect VAT are gullible because if all this your baseless reasons, then you are more gullible. Talking about input VAT and output VAT, lol... Let the state laws take effect first and see for yourself. Also companies under 25m threshold won't be affected even if asked to pay VAT, in the first place the VAT is not your personal money, it is a tax that is passed to the consumers and if you already charge it, you must remit. Ibkhaleel01: Unjust hatred for people will consume you. We see the obvious in the very hilarious VAT battle that is happening. I just dey observe. Many supported Governor Wike's decision to be collecting VAT because they say "the North contributes nothing and they want to be collecting". But if they know their facts they will understand that they are digging a hole for themselves. They will realize it is all of us that will suffer when States collect VAT. First of all, after Lagos, the next place that contributes the highest VAT (20%) is the FCT which is in the North. Yes this is followed by Rivers at 6% but Kano is next with 5% and this is followed by Kaduna. So no, it is not as you have been misinformed. The only special case is Lagos. So your State will suffer. Even Lagos will suffer with much more people migrating there. When resources are shared among Federating Units, it is shallow to always think it is injustice. Give Lagos 100% of it's VAT, Mukaila from Sokoto, Chinedu from Aba and even Lasisi from Osun will all migrate there. So what is the point again? Secondly, in the federal system, companies with less than 25 million were not VATable. You think you are doing Northerners but your company will become VATable once Wike's law is replicated in your State. Why do you think commercially massive States like Abia and Anambra do not top the list of VAT contributors? Because those boys in the market were not exactly VATable, wait until what you are blindly supporting takes effect. VAT will be collected like motor park tickets. Then you will see where hate has led you. Third, people will most likely pay VAT twice across different states with different laws because Wike does not know what is input and output VAT and did not listen to Nojeem Olasubomi Yusuf and others who politely asked him about it. Some have even termed Wike the leader of restructuring in Nigeria. A gullible people in search of heroes. Being used and misled by every opportunist. Stop allowing yourself to be used by politicians to settle their personal scores while they tell you they are fighting for your interest. You need to first know what your interest is to know who is actually fighting for or against it |
