Since 1990, 34 new countries have been created. The dissolution of the USSR and Yugoslavia in the early 1990s caused the creation of most of the newly independent states.
You probably know about many of these changes but a few of these new countries seemed to slip by almost unnoticed. This comprehensive listing will update you about the countries which have formed since 1990.

Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
Fifteen new countries became independent with the dissolution of the USSR in 1991. Most of these countries declared independence a few months preceding the fall of the Soviet Union in late 1991.

Thirteen other countries became independent through a variety of causes.
21. March 21, 1990 - Namibia became independent of South Africa.
22. May 22, 1990 - North and South Yemen merged to form a unified Yemen.
23. October 3, 1990 - East Germany and West Germany merged to form a unified Germany after the fall of the Iron Curtain.
24. September 17, 1991 - The Marshall Islands was part of the Trust Territory of Pacific Islands (administered by the United States) and gained independence as a former colony.
25. September 17, 1991 - Micronesia, previously known as the Caroline Islands, became independent from the United States.
26. January 1, 1993 - The Czech Republic and Slovakia became independent nations when Czechoslovakia dissolved.
27. May 25, 1993 - Eritrea was a part of Ethiopia but seceded and gained independence.
28. October 1, 1994 - Palau was part of the Trust Territory of Pacific Islands (administered by the United States) and gained independence as a former colony.
29. May 20, 2002 - East Timor (Timor-Leste) declared independence from Portugal in 1975 but did not became independent from Indonesia until 2002.
30. June 3, 2006 - Montenegro was part of Serbia and Montenegro (also known as Yugoslavia) but gained independence after a referendum.
31. June 5, 2006 - Serbia became its own entity after Montenegro split.
32. Febraury 17, 2008 - Kosovo unilaterally declared independence from Serbia.
33. July 9, 2011 - South Sudan peacefully seceded from Sudan following a January 2011 referendum. Sudan itself was the first to recognize South Sudan and did so one day early, on July 8, 2011.

Why is it oil and gas revenue alone is being shared across the country out of all the solid minerals?

Nigeria constitution needs to be rewritten, because it favours only the well to do (rich) people in the society.

Nigerian state inherited obnoxious laws that made Niger Delta a victim of internal colonialism.

I hope soon Niger Delta will be given the right of resource control.

Freedom will come only when there is unity in the efforts to be free among the SS and SE with well calculated and coordinated strategies from the underground. Plainly put a secret cult must exist.

I have a question to ask.
Have you ever been caught up in a tricky triangle where the management or directors gives the project their commitment but the end user in the organisation for example the accountant does not have the will to let the project succeed and starts frustrating the implementation to create an impression of incompetence of the developers. You know a situation where the end user by default has the leverage to give the management a thumbs up signal that the job is done and completed.

Not everyone has the privilege to install Visual Studio on all the computers he or she has access to.
And also some chap might be on http://www.dotnetperls.com/ studying c# and need to try out the example codes there. I personally spent 6 months looking for a visual studio CD four years ago you might not get one readily but need to test some codes.

Not everyone has the privilege to have their computer connected to the internet all the time.

For those that want to learn c# or test a simple code but do not want the burden of having to install the heavy resource consuming visual studio, you can do this.

All that is needed is to make sure your computer has the .NET framework already installed and a c# compiler exist in the computer.

To confirm this, check that the c# compiler (csc.exe) is in the location:
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319\

1) Now create a folder where you want your program.

2) In the folder create a .BAT file with the content below.

3) Also in the folder create a .CS file with your c# codes.

If you have never been to the creeks and do not know what the creek is like, if you have never traveled by boat through the Niger delta waters, if you have never seen a flow station or an oil platform or pipeline before, QUIT thinking the Nigerian military can easily use force in that area. So many posts on nairaland stinks of ignorance. You roam around the west all your life and you want to be opinionated about things in a far away region with crisscrossing pipelines, oil installations, tank farms, vast waters ways and rivers, dozens of helicopters in the air, gas flares, expatriates foreign nationals and a host of other stuff. Please take a chill pill.

The fact is that the work ethic of a typical Chinese or Indian worker is very strong. We as Nigerians do not come close.

And things are actually working in China. They produce 1,200,000 MW of electricity, (1.2 million MW), compared to Nigeria still struggling to cross the 4,500MW threshold since time immemorial.

That is why the Chinese employers of labour have had to draw up rules to stop the Nigerian employees corrupting their setup with our ways.

To all the accountants and auditors out there. What is the difference between a Sub Ledger and a General Ledger. I noticed it is difficult for even the professionals to answer or explain this. One is likely to get different contradictory explanations when you ask a cross section of them.

This is a good case study for the society and even the world at large to determine and draw a line between what is rape and what is consensual sex.

It might interest some of you to know that some consensual sex that have all the characteristics of rape and forced sex are sought after and enjoyed by some women. Some circumstances in the later future can make the woman claim rape.

I have been reading and expecting the legal practitioners to give a submission on the legal view of this.
I personally think she will lose this case in any court of law.

We really need to commend her for her openness in describing and trying to make us all understand what took place, where and when and her state of mind at all stages.

But she failed to add
1)The role of her parents (her mother in particular). I find it disturbing for a girl of 17 to be allowed out until 12am midnight. What kind of mother is that?
2)How they finally disengaged after 6 months of rapes that happen almost on a daily bases. Was she the one that initiated the disengagement? Or was Mustafa? Or was because she had no choice but to leave town for studies abroad?
3)How did she manage to get raped almost on a daily bases then going home and resuming work the next morning like nothing happened for 6 months? How did her relationship with these guys skip the knowledge of her female friends?
4)When did her trauma actually started? Was it after the accused finally got married to another girl? That is what I think though.

The biggest culprit here is her mother. Where was she for the 6 months her teenage daughter was having sex in cars in the streets of Abuja and getting raped without her notice.

The biggest loser here is Sugabelly. No matter how this story or case turns out it is clear to everyone that she is a loose girl with no good parenting and the disgrace might hunt not only her but her entire family for long time to come.
