kadman:What kind of stupid move is that anyway? Wedge urself in someone else's territory with your car? You dont know who might be waiting ready to do u in? For Naija? |
190:Baba 190, whats a Spyder Edition of Camry. Will like to know. Any pics? |
So you wanna do a deal for 35m with these lousy pictures? Are you serious? ![]() |
unclejojo:Wouldnt ALABA market be better to source it? ![]() |
fernald: fernald:Candid advice? Here i go. First i will like to let you know that there's no task that's too daunting that cant be overcome. However, what i will advise about car business is that YOU HAVE TO PHYSICALLY SEE THE CAR YOU ARE BUYING! Especially its better that way. As long as a car is used, its better for you to see the car in person. Can you buy a car on a website without seeing it? Sure! But from the little tiny knowledge i have, i will not buy a car without the car being in my presence, especially used. I dont care if they say the car is 2010!. If its used, i wanna see it in person!. You wanna hear it run. Feel the car! "Taste the car" and just have a physical "aura" of the car before you commit ur money. There could have been a body work or some type of imperfection on the car, you should be able to see it. A website MIGHT not allow u to see such imperfection. With that said, theres also a question of getting the best price. The website(s) you will be dealing with might not always have the best price or better put, best price and best selection at all times. You might not have the opportunity of a best selection. Again, not all cars a dealer/seller has makes it to the website. You walk unto the lot, and you can find a car that you like and decide to buy it. Before it even hit the site. Also, its very hard (if not near impossible) to strike a good deal even on the phone, talkless of a website. You got to a dealer and lets say he's asking for $9,000. You look at him, and pull out like $7,000 and hand it to him. Don't say anything. He counts it, looks at you funny and say "where's the rest?" and you reply "That's all i have". He said "its too small" You replied: "I cant come up with any more $$$" He might reject the offer, but it will be difficult. Salespeople dont like to let $$$ slip thru their hands. Unless of course its a really low offer. You might not exactly get the car for $7,000 but may be $8,000 after lots of "back and forth" But he's willing to spare you his time cos you are "serious, willing and able" to go thru with the purchase!. A phonecall/website can't help you like that. So here are your options: Get a reliable person in the US that can do that for you for a reasonable fee (preferably a LICENSED Dealer) OR Start by going to Cotonou and buy US spec cars there. You will be able to make ur selection. Bring it to Naija and people will know you with the car business. You can build your business that way. Let me know if you have more questions. |
kadman:There's ur answer. He answered u already on top. |
@ poster, Why is there so much discrepancy on the Odometer reading and reported CARFAX? |
vin? |
I am creating this thread for anyone who has cleared a vehicle thru Lagos port in the last 6 months to share with us the cost and experience(s). Good or bad Just tell us the type of car cleared and the cost. Your experience? Let us know too. (Don't try to ask people to call or email you in private for any recommendation. If you cant share it here. Keep it for yourself.Period!) To fellow forumites: Please check and re-check any recommended agent before you use them. Ask for reference(s) before committing any money at all. Thanks |
eros:He doesnt really need to apologise to me at all. This is a forum and we are here to share info. If someone else decide to brag about how they are living it up and put everyone else down, i guess it reflects their own value system. The issue with Acura/Honda is well known here. Some Naija guys dont know till now, hence my comment. If someone else decide to attack me on it, well so be it. Unfortunately, our culture dont always welcome or readily share important info that can adversely affect others. Some people will "fall into a pit" and just sit by and watch others fall into it too. Very common in our culture. What a shame. |
freshmoney: Stupidity is a disease. |
I will like to know if anyone know a really good block industry in Lagos/Ibadan area. I am looking for company(s) that can produce good standard blocks. Capacity to produce large quantity in short time also. How much is their price? Thanks. |
freshmoney:Can u read? Did u see where i said that "some". May be u dont know what some mean. I will refer you and your arrogance back to primary school. ![]() |
bababuff:Are u sure thats naija plates? |
eros:I dont have any Acura for sale at all. I will however advise you that whatever you do, if i were you, i will get a manual transmission if you will be getting a 2003-2004. You can get an auto for 2005 and up. Some Honda V6 and Acura 3.2 (2000-2004) Auto transmission CAN BE PROBLEMATIC. The keyword here is "SOME". You dont wanna take any chances with your $$$$. Good luck! |
jayon: jayon:Somehow these two statements are not agreeing with each other. Two years ago is not "straight form the port" Unless the Jeep was in a fisherman's canoe paddled by hand. It still doesn't explain where the 25,000+ miles go. We will still like to see engine pictures. I might owe you an apology ![]() |
Kx:WTF ![]() He is selling a LEGITIMATE product! And YES he can keep the profit! Its his sweat! What do you say to the politicians stealing your money everyday? You hail them and give them Cheiftaincy titles! |
its much easier to write about something that you lived!. Too many times we have accused the western media of saying something about africa that they dont know about. As soon as they try to do it the right way, we want them arrested! ![]() I support the guy and his approach |
Does the transmission have oil in it at all? |
Emperoh:There has to be a time when we will stop blaming everything on our "incompetent mechanics". How do u explain the horrific experience(s) that people have right here in the US? Check the consumer reports (i am sitting here with a print edition) and they will advise you strongly in staying clear away from those vehicles. They are notorious especially for electrical problem. Reliability is beyond just a car starting everyday. The little things counts also (durable door handle, durable power windows, widows that ACTUALLY stays in the track that doesnt derail etc) These are the things that goes side by side as durability and being counted too. The truth is that some German cars these days cant be counted on to deliver, day-in, day out on these simple things. Sunroof that ACTUALLY closes all the way! That doesnt leak within one year of buying the car. They are not boring to drive. I can imagine. As a matter of fact, i will admit to have never driven an Audi Turbo/VW Turbo ever in my life. However, i dont have to have been burned by a fire to know that burning hurts. ![]() |
Simmarco:Isnt VIN required for all posting? Something to hide? |
chipass: mhm:Church!!!! Preach!!!. Newer German cars are to be approached with caution!!!Proceed at your own risk!!! |
jayon:@ Seller, This car has been "missing in action" for 4 long years!. Its not a typical government/official vehicle here in the US (which can sometimes explain it). Its got another almost 25,000+ miles unaccounted for ![]() Are u sure its not Naija used? Its last registered in California in 2005. Hmmmm Underneat the front tires somewhat muddy and the interior is somewhat dusty. That's is just my observation. I am not going to reach a conclusion at this time. Can we see the engine picture please? |
So it's the foolish Africans that pay for these cars?. I know for sure that Asians(apart from middle easterners) don't have time for luxury cars and since Europeans and Americans seldom buy it, the only real market they have middle east and Africa. Russians love to cruise on expensive cars too, do they also lease theirs?. Go to Moscow and see for yourself.
Not really. The banking system in Africa especially is not very strong. Unlike here. I dont know any bank that will let you lease a Bentley. The road might ruin the car that it will be worthless after lease ends. Loss for the bank. Until the banks have a strong capital base, i guess its cash and carry for now. |
i am assuming you are in the US. For whatever you do, get mack trucks. As much as Freightliner/Volvo trucks are good, Nigerians are not too crazy about them. You will be begging them to buy it. Why? It will cost you about the same to ship and clear only to be stuck with them. Why o why? Be smart about it. |
kayjegs:Are u sure u can easily maintain Ford pick ups in Naija? How easy is it to get parts? |
Bariga1:Its Nigerian used! ![]() No VIN Necessary! |
Lexus is a pocket guzzler.
Whatever happen to the former reasonable Aloy.Emeka? That guy made sense. This "clone" Aloy.Emeka" is baffling me. Lexus a pocket guzzler? My former LS400 gets 20-22 miles per gallon at 100miles/hr for a V8!Lexus has one of the lowest (if not the lowest) maintenance cost among the luxury cars ! |
