Fuel injector is better in my own opinion. People are just afraid of injectors cos they dont understand it. Carburator are simpler however fuel injectors have better fuel management/delivery if maintained properly. |
This is a very interesting topic. My take is very simple: If the ROI(Return on Investment) will take more than 15-20years to recoupe all my invested income, i will look seriously into something else or at least look CRITICALLY into what i am doing/about to do. Why should anyone put money on a "flat" that will take 30-35years to recoup the funds i am putting in today? Sure there will be rent adjustments upward however dont forget that your present fund has a future upwards adjustment also if you do it properly. i.e your present money should appreciate if you put it in lets say a fixed deposit or a stock of a viable company. Nigerians have a HERD MENTALITY. Many people do things that they dont understand or why they are doing it. Hence all these wild prices and panic mentality. Some of these prices are so incredibly unreasonable i cant begin to make sense of it. |
Since the problem is not affecting all the Hondas, i will advise that if you intend to get any of the potentially affected vehicles, you should get a copy of the VIN report. Most repairs (Even regular oil changes or service) shows up on VIN Report. Definitely, a transmission repair should show up since it will be done by one of many Honda Dealers. Then you decide what your next step will be. Good Luck. Good Riding ![]() |
For those that are familiar with Honda Babyboy, SOME BATCH (FEW I UNDERSTAND) have transmission/gear issues. To the best of my understanding, the problem was suppose to affect year 2000 thru 2003. However, i have read of the gear problems affecting even 1998 models and sometimes as new as 2004. According to Honda, the problem suppose to only affect V6 Engines, (Honda Accord and Acura Car) but i have read different. Some 4-Cylinder Engines have reported the problems. So its kinda confusing. Most cars tend to develop the problems late in about 80,000-100,000 miles while others begin very early. To the best of my knowledge, the problem ONLY AFFECTS AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS!. Honda actually had a recall on some of the transmission but for those that already made it out of the country, too late. Below is a letter from Honda addressing the issue. American Honda Expands Voluntary Transmission Recall to Certain Honda and Acura Automobiles TORRANCE, Calif., June 29, 2004 -- American Honda Motor Co., Inc. today announced that it will expand its existing voluntary recall of light truck models for a potential transmission defect to include certain Honda and Acura passenger cars. The voluntary action involves approximately 499,000 Honda and Acura passenger vehicles with V6 engines and 5-speed automatic transmissions. Affected models include certain 2003 and early 2004 model Accord V6 sedans and coupes, 2000-2003 and early 2004 Acura TL sedans, and 2001-2003 Acura CL coupes. The company has found only one confirmed instance of a transmission failure related to this defect in its passenger cars, with no accidents or injuries. “We are acting out of an abundance of caution to ensure that this doesn’t become an issue for our customers,’” said Tom Elliott, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. The situation is created by insufficient lubrication of the transmission’s secondary shaft second gear that can occur under certain driving conditions. Prolonged operation under these conditions can lead to heat build-up and under certain circumstances may eventually result in chipped or broken gear teeth or breakage of the gear. In the event of a chipped or broken tooth, the owner will likely experience abnormal noise from the transmission and seek repairs. In rare instances, this condition may lead to gear breakage and possible locking of the vehicle’s transmission, creating a potential safety hazard. Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted via mail and will be asked to take their vehicle to an authorized Honda or Acura dealer to be repaired free of charge. Customer mailings will begin in late July. In most cases, the repair involves a simple gear inspection, which is accomplished without removing or disassembling the transmission, and a modification to increase the flow of transmission fluid to the affected gear. If there is any indication of damage to the gear, the dealer will replace the complete transmission assembly. Customers concerned about the condition of their vehicle may visit Honda’s Ownerlink website. Customers may also contact their local Honda or Acura dealer, or call Honda customer service or Acura customer service. Note: This information is being released in conjunction with an announcement concerning a related recall action for Honda models in Japan.
They actually waived the transit visas because they lost customers to Delta. Nigerians now have a choice. You can fly straight to the u.s without dealing with all their bullshit. i have vowed to avoid all european flights if i need to travel us/naija. Even if they offer rebates plus their waiver i no go take am. Bloody imbeciles. Na now them no say dem go remove transit visa. Imagine back then having to pay $80 for a transit visa that does not even let you get out of the airport. I mean what the f is dat.
Exactly my point!. These ppl are rude, snobby to high heavens! Unless i wanna visit someone in Europe, they can keep their rebates and stuff. Why do i wanna go and spent sometimes up to 12 hrs layover somewhere they dont like me? You have to sit at the airport! No leaving! I am like, "I live in the US!. Why do i wanna stay here when i am legal in the US? The only thing DELTA has been bad is the luggage allowance!. I cant imagine what a direct flight from Virgin or any other airline do to them? They will sit up straight! ![]() |

Is this car for sale in Cotonou or already in Naija? Did u say its US specs? |
I have been living in California since 1992. I am contemplating a move to Jacksonville, FL. Anyone in the house can clue me in on the day-day rigors there? Good? Bad? Whats ur opinion. Lots of Naijas? Thanks in anticipation for sharing ur views. |
Dont waste time. DELTA !!!!! Most European countries will be looking for transit visas before they allow u in. WTF? |
sucessful1:I have been in calif. since 1992. I lived mostly in Southern Calif. (S/B County, Orange, Riverside County) I am presently in Riverside. Attended Calif State University, Los Angeles. I seem to be tired of it though. My plan is to move to Jacksonville, Florida if i have a chance. I am hoping by the end of the year or not later than mid 2010 God willing. |
safspecial:What will be paid more is the towing charge (it will be towed from where its bought) and actual oceanfreight on the ship. This depends on the car. A camry for instance will be about 1200-1300 Dollars. Add clearing charge in Naija and cost of getting it to your door there. By the way, have u bought the car already? If not i will let you know that sourcing of the car itself will incure some charges. Otherwise, if all i have to do is pick up the car where its already bought its not that hard then. its a case by case basis. naijaking1:Sorry, i have been out of the loop a while ![]() |
@ Chief_D I so much like the way you handle issues, but I must tell you, promise is right in what hes doing , hes only trying to keep things in order . I have helped many people in compressing and uploading their car pictures on nairaland and can still do it again if situation comes calling. I'd rather advice you send the pictures to promise72 to assist you, else www.nairalist.com could be a better option, since negative replies won't cease to trail your threads,
Let anyone know that the car doesnt belong to me. This is the picture that was emailed to me. All i did was resize and post it. No interior or engine pics! This is all i got!
|
naijaking1:i am asking here in the US. Where is the car being bought from? ![]() Pay Attention! |
sucessful1:If i can advise u, i will move to either Atlanta or Florida (Northern part), its cheaper, weather is good with little threat of hurricane. I have been in Calif for over 15years. Dont believe the hype. its way too xpensive here. |
Thanks Igwe, I just think that someone with the pics will have posted it by now. Rather than several ppl requesting pics individually. Posting will have solved the problem. Not all potential buyers will have time to request pics individually. Awaiting the pics patiently. |
@ sheyai I just sent you the pic. @ gbengaijot Thanks. Really, I don't know what the deal with Promise is, I have had like 5 people from Nairaland up to my place to see the car and we still on pricing. Maybe he has intimacy issues or some kind of complex - I don't know, but I feel pity for him - he wants to be noticed. From what I see, most people who scam others are paranoid about scams, so he might be a scam, for the fact that he cant give an email for me to send the picture to. Like I said I'm not some desperate salesman or someone who the car is a meal-ticket to. If I have it off fine, and if not, I cruise it.
my email is promise72@yahoo.com. I will post it for u. |
@ poster, What state are we talking about? |
sultaan:I respectfully PARTIALLY DISAGREE. Your question is still incomplete. Is someone in the US buying for you?. If that person walks into a local dealer where he/she lives, they might probably charge tax cos its a local resident. Deal with a dealer who is familier with selling overseas. Tax can be avoided provided all shipping docs is provoded later for dealer's record in case govt ask later. Let me give u an example. In California, you are not reqd to pay sales tax if you dont live in the state. However, YOU MIGHT BE LIABLE if someone buys the car for you and that person is a California resident. Also, even if a non resident buys the car, it has TO BE TOWED!. If you show up to drive the car away, you guessed it! YOU WILL PAY TAX!. So lets have all the reqd info on the deal. Which state (all state tax laws are different). If you still worried about taxes (it can be substantial for costly cars) let me know. I might be able to help you. I have a dealers license. I can buy and ship to you and you can avoid all the tax and document fees. Good luck. |
The car will probably take longer than usual. coming from california |
3 pages!!! If the car is so good and good price. Why is it still here? ![]() No pictures? Let anyone who has the pics post it? |
